Reading has at all times and in all ages been a great source of knowledge.Reading skills are essential to succeed in society. Those who are good readers tend to exhibit progressive social skills. A person who is widely read is able to mix with others. He is a better conversationalist then those who do not read. He can stand his ground. Reading broadens the vision. It is in a way a substitute for travel. It is not possible to travel as much one would like to and reading can fill in the gap created by the lack of travel. Having confidence in reading only comes from the daily practice of reading. A good reader can interact with others in a far better way because reading has widened his vision and point of view. Thus a widely-read man is a better conversationalist and is able to see the other side point of view. Pinaod Central School, in celebration of November as Reading Month, had several activities. One of them is the implementation of Reading Hour in their remedial time . It is done everyday at 3:30 in the afternoon , a 15-20 minute oral reading activity by the pupils from grades I to VI pupils. In this activity, the pupils are motivated at first the proper way of reading , then they encouraged them to read in pair or in group which trained them to become independent readers . With this, the pupils look forward everyday for their reading activity,wherein their fluency in reading developes. Remedial classes for children at risk and in frustration reading level are also intensified by the teacher advisers. The highlight of the Reading Month Celebration is its culmination on November 3 , 2014 which is also the nationwide Araw ng Pagbasa with the theme “Nasa Pagbasa ang Pag-asa . Inspirational message were given by the school principal Mrs. Virginia M. Divina , while Mrs. Alelie DG.

She also read story which captured not only the ears but the heart of the listener. There was also audience participation, in a way of group reading of a short selection from famous writers of small and big books who have contributed and inspired us to love reading.

PCS celebration of National Reading Month held last Nov. 03, 2014. Mrs. Virginia M. Divina our principal gives her opening remarks and inspirational ideas about genuine love for reading. Pupils in all grades were very attentive and excited for the said event.

Mrs. Allelie DG. Santos read a short a story infront of the pupils. The pupils rarely get to see this fantastic lady outside the classroom so it was nice to share some of her favorite books with the kids. Comprehesion questions were asked after the story. The story has a moral lesson that they surely can apply in their daily lives.
