Fostering children’s speaking and listening abilities and developing word recognition at the pre-school age is essential in preparation for phonic knowledge and skills. By the age of five, children should be equipped with enough phonic awareness to be readers by the age of seven. The Apps Learning Centre has designed a reading program to introduce phonic and reading skills to pre-school aged children. Run by industry professionals in a fun and multi-sensory environment, the program develops awareness in: print and meaning; speech as the written letter or word; recognition of letters in own name and environment; rhyming and alliteration; rhythm of language; exploration of sounds and words; and the ability to take information from stories and make personal connections. These active 30 minute sessions cater for small groups of young children (and their carers). READING GROUP To register contact Mary-Anne Apps 0412 544 173 [email protected]
