Reading Dreams Foundation

• Is a charitable foundation aimed at setting up school libraries in rural communities through which pupils learn to enable themselves to the development of reading skills and habits so that their dreams may soar high above their realms of books and realize their ideals.

Our Beliefs• Reading is the “cornerstone of learning & personal

growth”.• Reading literacy is a key development milestone in

quality education.• Children are our future. A child’s reading interest

and habit is established within ages 3-10. Once missed, it’s not only a personal loss, it’s also a social and national loss.

Foundation History

12/2007 Draft of a development plan in 5 phases and the naming of the organization

02/2008 Establish the first school library in Shaoshan, Hunan under the name of “Reading Dreams”

09/2008 Completion the first phase

03/2009 Register “Reading Dreams Foundation Ltd” as a charity organization

Characteristics of the Library Project

• The Foundation coordinates the bulk purchase of books & furniture; schools are responsible for renovation & the purchase of prize

• The Foundation acts as a consultant in areas of classroom setting and promotional reading activities with reference HK experience

• Schools have to conduct a reading award scheme • Provide recommended book lists & book

selection criteria; arrange teachers to select books onsite
