Fees and paymentsFeesThe tuition fees listed are per academic year. Fees listed are correct at the time of going to print but may be subject to minor change.

16-18 feesIf you are a Home* student aged 16-18 you will not have to pay any tuition fees for government funded full-time courses and many part-time courses are also free. You will still need to pay for equipment and materials cost as required.

19+ feesTuition fees apply to most courses for people aged 19 and over.

Concessionary feesIf you are a Home student you may qualify for free tuition on government funded courses if you can provide evidence that you are in receipt of Jobseekers Allowance or Employment Support Allowance (work relatedactivitygrouponly–asdefinedbyJobCentrePlus). All other types of income-based benefits no longer apply for free tuition.

Please note that exam fees and any other course fees are still payable at the time of enrolment.

Free coursesYou do not pay tuition fees if you are over 19 and studying for your first full Level 2 course or if you are under 25 and studying for your first full Level 3 course. Exam and other related course fees are still payable. Please ask our advisors for more information if you think you might be eligible.

If you are on an Entry Level or Level 1 course and intend to move on to a Level 2 course next year, you may also be able to study for free.

All of our literacy and numeracy courses (up to Level 2) are free to Home students. Most of our job seekers courses are also free for JSA and ESA claimants).

*Toqualifyforhome/EUfeesyounormallyneedto be a national from the European Economic Area (EEA), Switzerland or specified overseas territories, havesettledstatusintheUK,orfallintooneofseveral other categories. To check, please contact our advisors on 0800 371 434.

Examination, registration fees and other costsExam and/or registration fees, if applicable, are payable at enrolment. Should you need to resit any examinations, additional charges may be payable. For some courses you will also need to buy books or pay for other materials including printing costs. Please ask for details at interview (if applicable) or when enrolling.

College ID cardAll enrolled students are required to have a college IDcardandtherewillbeasmallchargeforthiscardwhen you enrol.

When to payAll fees are payable at enrolment unless you are eligible for free tuition or you are making staged payments.

Staged payments (if your tuition fee is over £150)For your convenience we offer a staged payment plan, spreading your payments over an agreed period of time if the course duration is longer than 14 weeks and costs more than £150. A £20 administration fee is payable for this service.

• 40%or50%ofthetotalfeeispayableatenrolment.

• Theremainderofthefeeispaidintwo further payments.

If you choose not to stage your payment, you could receive an early settlement discount on tuition fees providing you have enrolled and paid before the start of the course.

RefundsFees are normally non-refundable unless we cancel the course.

Support with learningAdditional Learning SupportThe Additional Learning Support team helps hundreds of students each year who need extra help with Maths and English on Level 1 and Level 2 courses and also students with specific learning difficulties at all levels.

This additional learning support can include:

Reading College is located at the edge of Reading town centre. The Kings Road campus is easily accessible from surrounding towns like Wokingham, Bracknell, Maidenhead and Slough.

TrainThere are regular train services into Reading Station from nearby towns and London Paddington. The Kings Road campus is approximately a 10 to 15 minute walk from Reading Station. You’ll find the latest train services and times at www.trainline.com or www.nationalrail.co.uk

Bus

Reading Buses and Arriva operate regular services that stop along the Kings Road.

Reading Buses; Routes 13, 14, 17. Arriva; Routes 800, 850. First Group; Route 190. Thames Travel; Routes 126, 127.

There is a preferential rate for students on some weekly travel tickets during term-time (including evenings and weekends). The latest times and routes can be found on the bus company websites: www.arrivabus.co.uk, www.reading-buses.co.uk or www.thames-travel.co.uk

Bike There is a large number of bike racks for students wishing to cycle to college.

Car Car parking is available to students who live more than four miles from the campus. Car parking permits are issued on a first come, first served basis, although spaces are not guaranteed. Special car parking spaces and access are provided for those with disabilities. The college is accessible directly from the A4 or the town centre. Junctions 10 and 11 of the M4 motorway are within easy reach. Further directions can be found on the college’s website. The Loddon Bridge park and ride buses stop just beyond the college at KingsRoad/Huntley&Palmers.
