    Loop Attributes

When loop files are created on your JamMan device or added to the Library there are several attributes which are created within the loop files. These attributes are all given default settings as the files are created. You can manually change these attributes at any time. Here's a list of the loop attributes which can be found in the Content Window:

    • Loop #: This attribute is a read only attribute and is only available when viewing content within a JamMan device (internal or external memory). This attribute displays the memory location at which each audio file resides in the JamMan device. Clicking this field's header allows you to sort the loop list by loop #, in ascending or descending order.

    • Name: This field displays the name of each loop. Each loop's name can be edited by double clicking this field. Clicking this field's header allows you to sort the loop list by name, in ascending or descending order.

    • Length: This is a read only field and displays the total length time of the selected loop file. Clicking this field's header allows you to sort the loop list by length, in ascending or descending order.

    • Rating: This field displays the rating of each loop. Each loop can be given a rating by clicking the desired star icon. This allows you to sort by rating, filtering out lower rated loops so you can focus on the high rated loops. Clicking this field's header allows you to sort the loop list by rating, in ascending or descending order.

When JamManager XT software is installed, a default directory will be created in the application's folder. This is the central repository on your computer where all loop files

  • Printed Documentation

    22

synchronized from a JamMan device will reside. When adding files from other locations on your computer, JamManager XT will simply create a link to the file and will not copy the file to JamManager XT's default directory. If any such files are moved, JamManager XT will not be able to locate them and will require you to search for the new location of each moved file. NOTE: JamManager XT supports files containing the following file attributes:

    • Channels: Stereo • Sample Rate: 44.1 kHz - 96 kHz • Bit Depth: 16-bit - 24-bit • File Format: wav, .ogg, .aif, or .aiff

When adding files that have the same file name as a file name already in the Library, a note will be added to the description stating where the file was added from. This helps prevent accidental overwriting or deletion of files you may want to keep. As previously mentioned, when adding files from other locations on your computer, JamManager XT simply creates a link to the file. When files are synchronized with a JamMan device, these linked audio files are then transferred onto the JamMan device as a 44.1 kHz/16-bit/.wav file. Any file added to the Library that is not already a 44.1 kHz/16-bit/.wav file will be converted before being transferred to the JamMan device as a 44.1 kHz/16-bit/.wav file. When dealing with file types other than .wav, .ogg, .aif, or .aiff (such as .WMA, .MP3, etc.), the files must be converted using a third party utility before they can be added to the JamManager XT Library. Several free applications are available on the Internet that can convert other formats to a format which JamManager XT supports. If you use iTunes, you can find instructions here for converting a file to the .wav format. See Adding Files to the JamManager Loop Library.

    4. Select the desired loop file(s) from the first Content Window (standard computer keyboard shortcuts can be used for making selection of multiple loop files in the Content Window). Use the Copy or Cut Icon to add the selected files to the clipboard (or, if you prefer, right click the selection and select the desired function from the Right-Click Menu).

    5. Left click in the second Content Window and then click the Paste Icon (or, if you prefer, right-click on the second Content Window and select the "Paste" option from the Right-Click Menu).

NOTE: To use the drag and drop method for copying files, follow steps 1-3 above then select the files you would like to copy and drag them to the destination Content Window.

  • Using JamManager XT

    31

Using JamLists JamLists provide a way to create and manage "sub-libraries". They are commonly used for creating loop lists specific to the artist's set list or for backing up JamMan XT devices.

    Creating a JamList

    To create a JamList:

    1. Click the Add JamList Icon in the Resource Window.

    2. Click the JamList name to rename the JamList.

NOTE: New JamLists can also be created using the "Create new JamList" option in the Synchronize Library Window. However, this method of creating JamLists is reserved for JamMan XT device backup only.

    Adding Files to a JamList

To add files to a JamList:

    1. Click the Split View Icon.

    2. Select the location which contains the loop files you would like to add to the

JamList, using the drop down list in the upper left-hand corner of the first Content Window.

    3. Select the JamList which you would like to add the loop files to, using the drop down list in the upper left-hand corner of the second Content Window.

    4. Select the desired loop file(s) from the first Content Window (standard computer keyboard shortcuts can be used for making selection of multiple loop files in the Content Window) then drag the selected loop file(s) from the first Content Window to the second Content Window (JamList).

    5. Repeat steps 2-4 to transfer additional files.

Loading a JamList to a JamMan device

To load a JamList to a JamMan device:

    1. Transfer the files using Split View, as described in Transferring Loop Files.

    BClementsSticky Note

To load a JamList to the JamMan device, simply click on the JamList and drag it to the JamMan's Internal or External memory in the Resources view (diagram should be shown). Copying a JamList erases all the contents in the memory it is being copied to and you will be prompted to confirm this operation.
