Shhh, Magician’s only!

Welcome to thespecial MagiciansEdition of The KadarBook.

The printed versionof this book isaimed squarely atthe general public and not at magicians.

Having said this, there is a lot of useful stufffor magicians in there. Also, as a magicianof worth, you will instantly have plenty ofideas as to how you can utilise yourdeceptive techniques without me having tospell it out.

However, this secret little book is aimed atadding a bit more info for magicians, specifically on marking the cards.

Page 4: Read your fortune...these. Also, you may, or you may not want to mark the cards, it is a normal deck of cards, so you may prefer another technique and have the cards ‘clean’. Finally,

Using marked cards gives you anenormous advantage. The magician canknow ahead of time not only what the cardsare but, by extension, what the audiencescharacter and question are, as well as a lotmore usable information.

Basically, you ask the ‘sitter’ to chose acard to represent herself (as describedlater in this book), she chooses one andtables it. By glancing at the marks, youknow the card and you know a lot aboutthe sitter. The cards have many uses, acard can be chosen for a question, areading of past, present and future, hopesand fears and, well anything you want touse them for. In each case, with a markeddeck you are always one ahead.

So, why hang around here, let’s get on withthe marking system.

How To Mark the Cards

The cards do not come pre marked, as theyare not intended just for the magic market -you can perform genuine readings withthese. Also, you may, or you may not wantto mark the cards, it is a normal deck ofcards, so you may prefer another techniqueand have the cards ‘clean’. Finally, youmay wish to mark them in a different way tothe one described here.

If you do decide to mark the cards, it is arelatively simple and quick job.

My preferred method of marking is to takea sharp craft-knife and carefully scratchaway the marks. However, you can just aseasily take a biro or pencil and make themark this way.

The cards should look worn and scuffed. The more wear they have the more

authentic they will look and the morenatural the marks will be.

The Markings.

You will notice that there are three stars inthe indexes. These are to mark the value ofthe card.

you will notice that the symbols for the foursuits also appear near to the index.

A simple scratch or pencil mark in the centreof the relevant symbol will give you themark.

Note however that the symbol for Diamondsis pretty deep in the card. What I do is this, mark the first diamond with a pencil dot. However, most times I just look at the firstthree symbols, the Heart, Club and Spade. IfI do not see a mark, I know the card is aDiamond.

Page 11: Read your fortune...these. Also, you may, or you may not want to mark the cards, it is a normal deck of cards, so you may prefer another technique and have the cards ‘clean’. Finally,

A few more tips on marking.

It is rare that you will be performing with theKadar Deck in the context of a magic trick.

You are reading people’s minds and their‘fortunes’. As no one is expecting trickery,no one is looking out for it. So the marks canbe really quite bold.

Scratching, pencil or fine coloured markerworks better than a black sharpie. A bigblack marker blob does tend to stand out alittle more.

OK, now that you have marked your cards, read through this book again and see howyou can run the routines with theforeknowledge of knowing what the cardactually is. Remember, this does not justmean that you know the card, but that youalso know the thoughts of the spectator!

Onwards….

Kadar Fortune Telling Cards.

The old fairground looked a little run downand in need of a new coat of paint, but itretained all of its old world charm and wasstill a magical wonderland for the young boywho entered it’s confines. Some inner sensedrew him to an empty amusement arcade, and another step back into time. All of theattractions clearly came from a previous era. Most were mechanical and the few electricwhich lights spluttered and fizzled looked asif they were not expecting any visitors intothis secret world. To the boy it was a place ofwonder and enchantment, even if the coinshe placed into these neglected attractionsdid not seem to coax them into life. With justone coin left the boy discovered four verystrange cabinets tucked away in the furthestand darkest corner of the arcade. ‘Kadar seesall. Kadar knows all’. They seemed to besome kind of elaborate fortune tellingmachines. Four cabinets and one coin, thechild had to choose wisely. The coin wasplaced into the slot and although he did not

expect anything to happen, the cabinetclunked into life. The lights spluttered on andfilled the dark corner with color, the innerworking made a painful grinding noise andthe whole thing seemed to be powered byhissing steam. The heavy velvet curtainsslowly parted revealing a strange mechanicalpuppet towering over him; some kind ofgaudily dress oriental mystic, with jewelledturban and intricately patterned clothes. It started to shake the rust off from its innerworkings and lent forward, its eyespenetrating and strangely alive. Had he havebeen older, the boy may have felt discomfort, even some degree of fear, but this wasreplaced by the sense of wonder known onlyto children. Although the seer’s lips did notmove, it spoke to the boy somewhere deepinside. As it spoke, the child felt a strangesurge of energy glowing around him. With afinal hiss and flicker of the lights. Themachine spat out three curious playing cards. Then the curtains closed and the darknessreturned.

I was that child, many, many years ago. Now Iam an adult and the grey world has drainedme of the magic the small boy found soeffortlessly. Years later I returned to where Ithought the fairground was, but it had gone, replaced by the dead concrete block of asupermarket; somewhat less enchanting. Ioften wonder what became of the fourmagical machines that had transported me toa more mysterious world, I guess they haveno place in this fast moving world oftechnological marvels. As to the cards, well Istill have them; three beaten up old playingcards, each one with a strange messagescrawled on them. I never could understandwhat they meant, until now…

Welcome to the strange and mystical worldof Kadar. My aim with these cards is to mixmy memories of the old fairground fortunetelling cabinets with all that my great aunttaught me about genuine Romany fortunetelling.

This tiny book will give you a ticket into thisworld where magic is alive and strange oldforces are evoked.Above all they are intended to be fun, no onegoes to the fairground to be serious. Yetalthough you will enchant and enlightenanyone you show the cards to, you will findthat over time they will speak to you and themessage that they give just may change yourlife.

How to read your fortune

with the Mystic Kadar Cards.

First take your Kadar Deck and remove thejokers, next remove the four aces and placethese face up in a row before you. Thendivide the remaining cards into two decks, one deck with the Kadar fortune tellingCabinets (Jacks, Queens Kings), and theother deck with the Message cards (theremaining number cards). Put these pilesface down below the aces. You will also needa coin. Any coin will do, but silver or gold isbest.Think of a question that you want the greatseer to answer, now pick up the pack ofcards containing the Kadar Cabinets. As you are shuffling, close your eyes andimagine that you are entering an oldfairground from your childhood, you walkinto an amusement arcade, all of themachines there are old and curious. At thevery back of this arcade you see fourcabinets that are the most curious of all. There are no lights, heavy curtains are drawn

inside the cabinets hiding their contents fromview. They seem to have been switched offand abandoned long ago. Yet, they fascinateyou and pull you to them. The first cabinetsays ‘Questions of the Heart’. The nextcabinet says ‘Questions of the Mind’. Thenext Cabinet says ‘Questions of Creation’,and the final Cabinet says ‘Questions of theBody’.You have but one coin, which cabinet do youput it in?Let your instincts guide you to the cabinetthat you think will best answer your question. Now take the pack with the cabinets and startshuffling these. As you do so imagine thecoin going into the slot of the chosenmachine. The machine whirs into life, thecabinet lights up and you hear strangeoriental music coming from an oldmechanical device inside. As the curtainsstart to open, deal one of the cards face upand place it below the Ace. Look at the card, but try not to read it yet.Now take the last pack of cards. These arethe messages from the Kadar machine. As

you shuffle these, imagine the figure from thecard you just turned come to life. It moveslike a mechanical puppet, but it seems oddlyalive. It looks you in the eye, it seems toknow you, and you seem to recognize thefigure inside, as if from a dream or a previousforgotten time.Deal three cards from the pack face up andplace them below the Kadar cabinet. One of these cards will make sense to youright away, this is the card describing yourcurrent circumstances. It makes sense to youas it reflects what is currently happening inregards to the question. Rearrange the cardsand put this card in the centre, below theKadar Cabinet. One of the remaining cards representscircumstances in your past that have lead upto your question. Look at these two cards andthe correct card will reveal itself to you.Place this card to left of the centre card.Place the remaining card to the right of thecentre card. This represents the future. What is the great seer telling you? You willneed to read the next section to find out!

The Jack of Spades represents activethinking; cutting away the outdated, rationalizing. The Queen of Spades represents supportingjustice and rationality.

Page 22: Read your fortune...these. Also, you may, or you may not want to mark the cards, it is a normal deck of cards, so you may prefer another technique and have the cards ‘clean’. Finally,

The Kadar Cabinets can also manifest asactual people with these qualities, individualswho enter the querent’s life to help them. The best way to understand the cabinets andthe advice they are giving is to imagine thatthey are real people, albeit strange andmystical people. What would these peoplebe like? How would they think and whatwould they say in response to yourquestions?

Kadar’s Tickets.

The number cards represent the ticketsgiven out by the Kadar cabinet. The wordsmay seem cryptic and strange at first, yetthey will hold meaning for you; Kadar seesall! If you do not understand the meaningright away, that is fine. Keep the cards withyou and their meaning will reveal themselvesover time. The numbers represent a scale from low tohigh vibrations of energy. The lower thenumber, the more this energy is blocked. So

Page 23: Read your fortune...these. Also, you may, or you may not want to mark the cards, it is a normal deck of cards, so you may prefer another technique and have the cards ‘clean’. Finally,

low numbers represent obstacles that needto be overcome to allow this energy to flow. The higher the number, the more power and‘good fortune’ is available regarding thequestion.

Final thoughts on the Cards

meanings.

The Kadar system does not rely uponlearning long passages of text or complexsymbolism. We believe that this would makeyour readings too logical and awkward asyou struggle to remember what you hadread. This would kill your intuition. The cardsdo have deep and complex meanings, andthese meanings will reveal themselves to youthe more the cards are used. What is more, the meanings that are revealed will be

Page 24: Read your fortune...these. Also, you may, or you may not want to mark the cards, it is a normal deck of cards, so you may prefer another technique and have the cards ‘clean’. Finally,

personal and unique to you and what youhave discovered in your contact with theKadri. So instead of learning long, complex andfixed meanings, it is better to understand thebasic structure of the cards and how toconstruct their meaning by looking first at thesimple key words for the suit and thenadding or fine-tuning the detail from thevalue of the card (the number of theparticular Cabinet card).Do not worry if it is a bit difficult to start, listen to your intuition as this is the true voiceof Kadar. Approach the cards intuitively, if ameaning suggests itself, it will be the rightone. Through practical work with the cardsmore and more of the meaning will revealitself to you. This is key, work with them oftento realize this inherent truth.

The Spirit of Kadar

To Kadar everything is energy. All Kadarsees is energy, not people, not things, notevents; all of this is a field of energy to Kadar.

Page 25: Read your fortune...these. Also, you may, or you may not want to mark the cards, it is a normal deck of cards, so you may prefer another technique and have the cards ‘clean’. Finally,

Kadar sees that in some areas of a person’slife, this energy is blocked. In some areas ofa personal life Kadar sees an abundance ofthis energy flowing in and out.To the person who is experiencing lowenergy, it may feel like everything is goingwrong and no solution is to be found. Shouldthis person to look back at previousproblems they would realize that they wereall resolved in some way, or that even if theevent seemed negative, in the greaterscheme of things, it lead to the developmentof who that person is today. So there is no‘bad’, just a lack of ‘good’. If things are notgoing your way, it is not because of ‘badluck’, it is because there is an obstaclestopping the good energy flowing freely intoyour life. Kadar believes that we make ourown destinies by the thoughts and actions wemanifest in our lives. Reality is formed inthought and dream. If we are aware of thepatterns of energy in our lives at anyparticular time, we can do something aboutit. We can see where the energy is blockedand work out what is blocking it, and what we

Page 26: Read your fortune...these. Also, you may, or you may not want to mark the cards, it is a normal deck of cards, so you may prefer another technique and have the cards ‘clean’. Finally,

need to do to unblock it. If energy if flowingfreely, we can capitalize upon it and use it toget what we want from life, rather thanblindly missing opportunities that arepresented to us.Kadar believes that people get trapped in thedetail, the ‘what’, the ‘who’ and the ‘when’.By focusing on the detail of a problem we canbe blind to the energy that really powers it.There is a three-part journey to take inunderstanding how to work with the energyof the cards. First start with the detail; theproblem, the person or the event. Second, strip away the detail and see if you can sensethe energy behind it. Do you feelempowered by an abundance of energy, ordo you feel trapped and feel that there is notmuch energy available? How does this affectyou? How does it make you feel, think, actand be? By focusing on the energy ratherthan the detail, we reach the core of theissue, we can then deal with unblocking andempowering ourselves with the energy thatis always there for us in a limitless supply. The third stage is to ‘come back down to

Page 27: Read your fortune...these. Also, you may, or you may not want to mark the cards, it is a normal deck of cards, so you may prefer another technique and have the cards ‘clean’. Finally,

earth’ and apply what we have learned to theactual matter at hand. Once we understandthe underlying energy and have removedany blocks, we can return to the detail of thequestion with greater insight. This is the core philosophy behind any Kadarreading.

How to Read with the Kadar

Cards

We will end this introduction to the KadarCards by looking at the reading we startedwith and add a little detail. The text in italics is an example of how thisadvice could be applied in an actual reading.

Your Question. You can start the reading with a specificquestion, or you can just let your mind goblank and let Kadar indicate the energysystems that are working for you at anyparticular time.

● Lay out the Four Aces.

Page 28: Read your fortune...these. Also, you may, or you may not want to mark the cards, it is a normal deck of cards, so you may prefer another technique and have the cards ‘clean’. Finally,

If you have a specific question put the coin onthe Ace that seems the most relevant. If youdo not have a specific question, use yourinstinct to place the coin, Kadar will guideyou…If you put a coin on the Heart, you arethinking of something to do with your innerworld of dreams and your own feelings.Maybe it is something effecting your heart, orsomething deep inside? If you put a coin on the Spade, you arethinking of something to do with judgmentand logical thinking. Maybe you are planningsomething or working something out?If you put a coin on the Club it is something todo with creative energy or your career. Whatare you creating? What do you want to dowith your life? Is there a message? If the coin is put on the Diamond yourquestion is about the material or physicalworld. Are you concerned with about yourfinances? Home? Or your own health?

● Shuffle and deal out one of the cardsfrom the Cabinets pack.

Page 29: Read your fortune...these. Also, you may, or you may not want to mark the cards, it is a normal deck of cards, so you may prefer another technique and have the cards ‘clean’. Finally,

This cards indicates the higher energybehind the question and shows you the bestway to deal with it.The suit tells you the energy that looks overyou. The meaning of the suits is always thesame, hearts for intuition and feelings, spades for logic and judgment, clubs forcreative energy and diamonds for thematerial and physical. The actual court card focuses this energy.Jacks for dynamic action, Queens forreflection and nurturing, Kings forauthoritative advice and judgment.

The cabinet card tells you how to approachthe question.Your question may be about a specificrelationship and you put your coin on a heart, but the card you turned over was the King ofSwords. This means that this card iscounselling you to take a step back and thinkabout the issue in a calm and rational manner. To carefully and logically weigh up the prosand cons and make a wise, intelligentjudgment, don’t let your heart rule your head.

Page 30: Read your fortune...these. Also, you may, or you may not want to mark the cards, it is a normal deck of cards, so you may prefer another technique and have the cards ‘clean’. Finally,

This card may also indicate an actual personin your life with these qualities, or that thisperson may show up, they will be of help toyou in regards to you question. Or it mayindicate that you should be this person; atleast for a while.

● Shuffle and deal three cards from theremaining pack

One of these cards refers to what ishappening now. Because of this, it will be thecard that makes the most sense to you. Placethis in the centre. This card will tell you of thenature of the energy in your life at themoment. Is it a low number? This means that theenergy that should be there for you isblocked in some way. What is causing thisblock and what can you do to remove it? Is ita high number? Then the energy of that suit isempowering you in the present, act on thisenergy and live it to the full. You may have drawn a 7 of Diamonds, thismeans that there is a good deal of energyavailable to you in the physical realm. After

Page 31: Read your fortune...these. Also, you may, or you may not want to mark the cards, it is a normal deck of cards, so you may prefer another technique and have the cards ‘clean’. Finally,

you have taken the kings advice and thought itthrough, you should act on this, get out thereand do something practical about the situation. One of the two remaining cards refers to thecircumstances that have led up to the currentsituation. Kadar wants you to use yourintuition to find which of these cards is theright one.If the card is low, it indicates mistakes thatyou have made, or negative experiences inthe past that have led to a block of theenergy. If the number is high, then itindicates that you have done something rightor had a positive experience that empowersyou in the present. You may have drawn a 3 of Hearts. Maybesomething happened that hurt you emotionallyin the past, and that hurt lingers on in thepresent making you cautious andapprehensive. You will need to look at this andthink what you learned from this experiencethat is useful to you today and what you can doto remove these blocks. Maybe someonebroke your heart in the past. This experiencemay have been unpleasant at the time, but led

Page 32: Read your fortune...these. Also, you may, or you may not want to mark the cards, it is a normal deck of cards, so you may prefer another technique and have the cards ‘clean’. Finally,

to you being more emotionally mature. TheKing of spades tells you to be cool andcollected, maybe this more rationalperspective is the way to avoid futureheartache? The remaining card is the card that indicatesthe future in regard to your question. If it is alow card, this does not mean that the future isgoing to be bad. However, it does indicatethat there will be problems that you will needto overcome to allow the energy to flow intoyour life. If these are not attended to, theenergy will be blocked in the future and youwill not reap the full rewards. If the card ishigh then there is plenty of energy to drawupon and empower you. The suit indicateswhere this energy is to be found. As this cardrepresents the future, and by definition thefuture has not happened yet, its meaning maynot be apparent to you now. This is to beexpected. Keep the cards with you, itsmeaning will reveal itself. Remember too thatthe future has not happened yet. This cardindicates what may happen given the currentcircumstances. The future can always be

Page 33: Read your fortune...these. Also, you may, or you may not want to mark the cards, it is a normal deck of cards, so you may prefer another technique and have the cards ‘clean’. Finally,

changed. So if the card is low, this does notmean that the energy will be low in thefuture, if you act on Kadar’s advice, you willchange this future and the energy will beraised. You may have drawn a low Diamond. Thismeans that if you are not careful, things aregoing to get ‘stuck in the mud’. What was anexciting whirlwind romance becomes staleand predictable. What do you need to do nowto stop this from happening, or what do youneed to do when the physical energy starts toget blocked? How will you bring some freshenergy into the relationship? You may notknow yet, but ‘forewarned is forearmed’!Alternatively, you may have drawn a high club. This is a great sign that the relationship will becreative and fun. This energy will be there, socapitalize on it and let it flow into your life, head for experiences that are sociable andempower you. When you have looked at all of the cards, seeif you can read the story that they are tryingto tell you. Can you see patterns or linksbetween the cards?

Page 34: Read your fortune...these. Also, you may, or you may not want to mark the cards, it is a normal deck of cards, so you may prefer another technique and have the cards ‘clean’. Finally,

Final thoughts on Reading

Some aspects of what Kadar is telling you,you will already know, as they already residein your consciousness. Some will seem tomake sense instinctively, but their meaningmay not yet be fully revealed, they just ‘seemright’ somehow. This reveals aspects of thepast, present or future that lie just belowconsciousness, in your subconscious, theseare the aspects that are telling you the mostabout the situation. Some aspects will notseem to make any sense at all. If it is a pastevent, it is something buried deep in yourmemory. If a present event, it is somethingworking unconsciously, that you are notconsciously aware of. If it is a future event, itrefers to something that you cannot fullygrasp as it lies in the future. You do not needto figure all of this out, in the same way thatyou cannot always understand what yourdreams mean. The meaning of the cards willreveal themselves at the correct time.Remember, we are dealing with energy, notwith the detail. So in the example given, you

Page 35: Read your fortune...these. Also, you may, or you may not want to mark the cards, it is a normal deck of cards, so you may prefer another technique and have the cards ‘clean’. Finally,

may be thinking about a specific relationshipwith a specific person and you may have allsorts of issues and thoughts about thatparticular person or the prospects of theactual relationship. You need to put thesedetails aside and look at the energy patternsbehind them. At the end of the reading youcan then apply this to the actual details.Always use your intuition. The cards act as astimulus to your inner mind. Trying to workthem out logically will only get you some waydown the path. Rely on your inner voice, if anidea suggests itself in response to the cards, this will be the true voice of Kadar speaking. When you start reading with Kadar you maystruggle for things to say. Just present it as afun game. If you stumble or do not feel surewhat to do next, it is a game, so it does notmatter. If you are stuck for something to say, don’t speak, silence will actually enable bothyou and the querent listen to your innervoices. Don’t let the first clunky reading putyou off. The more you use the cards the moreyour confidence will grow, and the more thecards will ‘speak’.

Page 36: Read your fortune...these. Also, you may, or you may not want to mark the cards, it is a normal deck of cards, so you may prefer another technique and have the cards ‘clean’. Finally,

One final though on reading with the KadarKards. The experience should always be funand empowering for the person you arereading (that person may be yourself!). Donot let the querent ask really difficultquestions, the sort of question where youwould not want to feel responsible for andserious outcome from the reading. Just saythat the cards are not effective for that type ofquestion. Try to use the cards to transformany negative thinking into something that willempower the querent. If the querent goesaway thinking she has had an interesting andfun time, then you have given a goodreading.Never give advice, the idea of a Kadarreading is that the querent listens to what yousay about the energy and then she makessense of it, she gives herself the advice. Onlyshe knows the answers to her questions.

Page 37: Read your fortune...these. Also, you may, or you may not want to mark the cards, it is a normal deck of cards, so you may prefer another technique and have the cards ‘clean’. Finally,

What is in Store? What you hold in your hands is just thebeginning, there is so much more that youcan do with the Kadar Cards and so muchmore meaning behind them. You may wellget all the fun you need from the cards andfrom this little book. However, if the Kadricall you and you want to find out more, weare writing an intermediate and advancedcourse in using the cards.
