According to their mom, Penny, the twins selected their 2-bedroom 2-bath condo that has floor to ceiling windows let- ting in plenty of light, and a spacious living room to host their party guests for their No- vember birthday. The brothers have their own rooms, but the group couldnt help but notice that Will had two beds in his room. When asked why, Jaime replied because he likes two beds.Jaime and Will have 24-hour support counselors, but they decorate their own apartment, check their own mail, and enjoy watching traffic pass from the balcony of their new home. The next stop was the home of Brendan, James, and David. David enjoyed get- ting his hair brushed by staff while Brendan showed us his room and the staff talked about whats for dinner. The individuals enjoy the pond in the backyard, a feature that is known to sooth individuals with developmental disabilities. Our final stop was Kelly and Sarahs apartment. Kelly welcomed us and gave us a tour of the amenities in the apartment building. The 24-hour concierge and fitness cen- ter are standard in many apartment homes but it was the 14-seat movie theatre that sur- prised us. Kelly pridefully spoke about the events the apartment holds such as Super- bowl parties in the movie theatre. Up in the apartment Kelly spoke about her job and taking public transportation to work. Shes been employed for 25 years with a local government agency, and she manages her own finances. Kelly and Sarah require little assistance from Jubilee staff and participate in many Jubilee events. Our tour provided our donors with a peek into quality care on the individual s terms. Jubilees versatility of service provides families of individuals a peace of mind knowing that their loved one is being taken care of where and how they want. The diversity in service provides independence for individuals, giving them the opportunity to experience life in a fashion their families didnt think was possible. Jubilee Milestones

[ There’s No Place Like Jubilee

Celebrating 40 years of individu-als with developmental disabili-ties, Jubilee strives to shape per-sonal service for each individual. Throughout these 40 years, Jubi-lee is continuing to shift from group home care to focusing on the individual’s choices. Periodi-cally tours are given to donors and volunteers to show the im-portance of separating housing from services. On November 27, 2017, Jubilee staff, board mem-bers, donors, and friends toured three residences.

We began at the new condo of Jaime and Will. According to their mom, Penny, the twins selected their 2-bedroom 2-bath condo that has floor to ceiling windows let-ting in plenty of light, and a spacious living room to host their party guests for their No-vember birthday. The brothers have their own rooms, but the group couldn’t help but notice that Will had two beds in his room. When asked why, Jaime replied “because he likes two beds.” Jaime and Will have 24-hour support counselors, but they decorate their own apartment, check their own mail, and enjoy watching traffic pass from the balcony of their new home.

The next stop was the home of Brendan, James, and David. David enjoyed get-ting his hair brushed by staff while Brendan showed us his room and the staff talked about what’s for dinner. The individuals enjoy the pond in the backyard, a feature that is known to sooth individuals with developmental disabilities.

Our final stop was Kelly and Sarah’s apartment. Kelly welcomed us and gave us a tour of the amenities in the apartment building. The 24-hour concierge and fitness cen-ter are standard in many apartment homes but it was the 14-seat movie theatre that sur-prised us. Kelly pridefully spoke about the events the apartment holds such as Super-bowl parties in the movie theatre. Up in the apartment Kelly spoke about her job and taking public transportation to work. She’s been employed for 25 years with a local government agency, and she manages her own finances. Kelly and Sarah require little assistance from Jubilee staff and participate in many Jubilee events.

Our tour provided our donors with a peek into quality care on the individual’s terms. Jubilee’s versatility of service provides families of individuals a peace of mind knowing that their loved one is being taken care of where and how they want. The diversity in service provides independence for individuals, giving them the opportunity to experience life in a fashion their families didn’t think was possible.
