Creating collaboration focusedinfrastructure at Bayer

As closer coordination between global and India offices has become increasingly critical,

Bayer wanted to place the latest meeting and collaboration technologies at the disposal of

their teams. The new Thane office complex (Bayer House) and the factory in Vapi, Gujarat

were identified for implementing these solutions.

The ChallengeBayer, is one of the world's leading innovators in agricultural

sciences and conducts research into new technologies to increase

agricultural productivity and improve future food security.

Actis was approached to help when Bayer decided to move teams

from different locations to their new Thane corporate offices.

The project involved creating and integrating several Meeting rooms,

Conference rooms, Training rooms and Boardrooms across multiple

floors of the building.

Bayer also wanted to have collaboration, meeting and training

facilities for use by staff at the Vapi Factory location.

At Thane, a dedicated Collaboration Level (on the 6th floor) was

envisaged to put the latest meeting and collaboration technologies at the disposal of their entire team.

The Professional Services Group at Actis deployed an integrated

collaboration solution at Bayer, Thane. Multiple Focus rooms (one on

each floor) have been created for small group meetings. In addition,

Bayer has converted their 6th floor into a dedicated Collaboration Level

with Meeting rooms, 10-seater Conference Rooms, 14–seater U–shaped

room, Training rooms, Boardrooms, and a 15–seater O–shaped

Conference room.

Actis has set up all the rooms with full digital (IP-based CAT5) data and

control infrastructure featuring the latest XTP Solutions from Extron.

This helps eliminate the

need for multiple types of cabling and simplifies both the installation and

maintenance processes considerably.

The 2 Boardrooms and 2 Training rooms also work in “combined mode”

to create for larger meetings or special a single large Town-hall type space

events. When used individually, these Boardrooms and Training rooms

are ideal for smaller groups to collaborate and learn. All 4 rooms that

make up the Town-hall are centrally controlled via a . common controller

A special Round-table Conference Room was designed for better one-on-

one interactions with everybody in the room, and has 4 x 46” LED displays

for viewing presentations.

Bayer has also created Meeting rooms and a Video Conferencing room at

its Vapi Factory facility – which allows better interaction with the Thane

Head Office. This is part of an initiative to adopt collaboration and

learning technology throughout the organisation. The Video Conferencing

room has a and convenient connectivity 65" wall-mounted LED display

interfaces for use of different types of presentation equipment.

by both the factory and administrative teams. High-brightness projectors

and ensure better trainer-trainee interactions. high-clarity audio systems

An also allows management of the iPad based Crestron control system

environment – lighting, cooling and audio-visual equipment inside the

room.

The Result

Bayer was looking to improve collaboration across the entire organisation and ensure that meeting spaces were well integrated for smoother management at all times.

The result was a unique office building, which provides access to the best collaboration technologies on every floor and for groups of almost any size and is also connected to similar facilities at the Vapi factory.
