RE Curriculum 2012TRANSCRIPT
RE at The Bromfords
It is the aim of the department to offer all students the opportunity to explore and learn about the
nature of religion and the influence of religious beliefs on individuals and on society as a whole.
Through the study of religion we aim to enable students to increase their knowledge and
understanding of religion, at the same time empowering them with the skills of questioning,
appreciation, empathy, making informed judgements and critical insights.
RE is not in any way involved in instructing a child in any one particular faith, this is not our role and
we do not try to influence any student’s beliefs. Our role is to help students explore a wide range of
views, both religious and non-religious. However we do aim to uphold t
moral absolutes.
We aim to support the school through ensuring that school procedures are followed, by all members
of the Department and that our policies are consistent with those of the whole school.
Finally we aim to ensure all students at The Bromfords School will leave having had an informative
and enjoyable experience of Religious Education and that we will have contributed to their personal
development so that they can take their place in the world with confidence. We hope w
helped to foster the values of respect, empathy and tolerance which will help them make sense of the
society they live in and the world as a whole.
The RE department comprises 3 full time staff, with additional help offered by members of the Se
Leadership Team.
