  • INTERACTION TWO ----------------------------- From: John McFadden Sent: Wednesday, March 18, 2015 12:38 PM To: Elenore STURKO Subject: Re: theft of firearms El I apologize for writing that there are serious concerns without saying who has serious concerns. That was my mistake. People obviously took it in a manner that I hadn't meant. However, as I read your email below, one could take it to mean that police are no more concerned about firearms being stolen than they are storage tubs. We both know that's not true. I had hoped that you would have been able to say that stolen guns are sometimes used in other crimes and that's why the theft of firearms is of particular concern to RCMP. However, you didn't say that so I didn't use your statement. I frankly think that part worked better for you and RCMP. Also, using the word "added" is a literary tool, used by journalists. You said one thing and then you said another. So it is not incorrect to say that you added. However, I will ensure that term doesn't get used in stories that you are quoted in, in future. Moving on... Are any or all of the latest drug suspects gang related? Is that possibility part of the investigation. Has RCMP noted that the majority of cocaine trafficking suspects continue to be from out of town. You are aware of the 856 gang stories we've done in the past. Is it still a problem, "the 856 gang"? Or any other gang? What can police do about out of towners setting up shop here to sell cocaine to Yellowknifers? Does Yellowknife RCMP feel that Yellowknife has a larger poblem, per capita, than elsewhere in Canada? Thank you El And off the record, between you and I, I'm sorry.

  • I think we have a strong. mutual relationship. The last thing I want to do is jeopardize that in any way. I hope we are cool. Thanks From: Elenore STURKO Sent: Tuesday, March 17, 2015 3:28 PM To: John McFadden Subject: Re: theft of firearms Hi John, We are always concerned when there is a break and enter in the community. Our Members are aggressively investigating this incident and are asking the public to provide any information they have. There is no update in regards to the other B&E investigation from 2013. -EL >>> "John McFadden" 2015/03/17 12:34 PM >>> Hi there. Can you say how concerned you/Yellowknife RCMP are over the theft of the firearms and ammunition? Also we talked about the theft from the gunsmith shop on [ADDRESS REDACTED] back in 2013. You said you would check to see if there was any update, charges laid, guns recovered etc. Unfortunately, I need this for tomorrow's paper if possible. Can you help? My co-worker said police did attend. He said Friday night at 3am...so I can only assume he meant early Saturday morning. From: Elenore STURKO Sent: Monday, March 16, 2015 9:53 AM To: John McFadden Subject: Re: incident at [ADDRESS REDACTED] Hi John, We did not attend any call as you are describing. -EL >>> "John McFadden" 2015/03/16 9:20 AM >>> Good morning El.
