RCCC Bond Campaign Update from President Spalding
Thefirstbondcampaigninalmost50 years for RCCC in Rowan County hasbegun!ThecollegehasstartedtoinformRowanCountyvotersandencouragethemtosupporttheRCCCbondonElectionDayNovember2.Weneedyourhelpandyourvoteaswell.Asyouknowwearecampaigningfora$12millionbondthatwilladdressoursignificantfacilityneedsattheNorthCampus. RCCCboardandstaffmembersandSGArepresentativeshavespokenat13civicclubmeetingsandchurchesthusfar,reachingnearly1,000membersandpotentialsupporters.BetweennowandElectionDay,RCCCrepresentativeswillspeakatmorethan30clubmeetingsandchurchesinRowanCounty.IhaveheldCoffeewithCarolmeetings,sponsoredbyourFoundation,totalkaboutthebondwiththeprogramheadsanddirectorshereoncampus. bondandtheNorthCampusneedshttp://www.rowancabarrus.edu/bond/faq.html.Thesepagesareagoodsourceofinformationforanyonewithquestionsaboutthebondreferendum.RCCCalsoissendingoutmessagesaboutthebondcampaignthroughoursocialmediasites. Inthenextfewdays,anaggressiveandhighlytargeteddirectmaileffortwillbegin.AnimportantmessagebeingcommunicatedisthatvoterswillhavetofliptheballotovertoitsbacksidetofindtheRCCCbondsection.Voterschoosingastraight-partyticketstillmustturntheballotovertovotefortheRCCCbond.
Ourstudentsalsohavestartedtheircampaignefforts.Theyhavedonated$10,000tothebondcampaignand300volunteerhours!Wearesoexcitedforthesestudents,whoseparticipationinourciviclifeisnotjustanexercise;itisavitalcampaignforthefutureofthecampus.SGArepresentativesandotherstudentswillattendupcomingRowanCountyeventsandfestivalstohandoutflyers.TheSGAwillmakeuseoftheRCCCstudentactivitiesvantotransportstudentstotheearlyvotingsiteattheRowanPublicLibrary.ThenonElectionDay,studentshavevolunteeredtoworkmanyofthecountyspollingsites,handingoutvoteyesreminders.
