Option #1 Option #2 Option #3 This task is for those of you who missed out on passing the first creative writing internal standard, or anyone who would like to try and improve their grade. I have a couple of options below, using minor characters from the novel, but if you have an alternative idea run it by me to get the okay first. Remember that the use of figurative language techniques is imperative (simile, metaphor, personification, hyperbole, onomatopoeia, alliteration, etc.….) You may want to include a quotation from the story it could be useful in concluding your piece. But keep it really limited 1 would be enough. nnn Imagine that you are Auntie. You have had to leave early for work the next morning, but you leave Raphael a letter trying to persuade him to give the bag to the police. You could include: Your reasons, what are you worried about? Language that will make Raphael feel guilty if he keeps it (emotive language) Language that will make Raphael feel proud if he returns it (emotive language) Rhetorical question Anecdotal evidence to strengthen your argument Command/ imperative. AAA Imagine that you are Gabriel Olondriz. Write a diary entry from his point of view, recalling the visit from Gardo and Olivia and reflecting on his life. Reread pages 101119/140147. You could include: Reflections on his life in prison, description Reflection on the person, events that resulted in him being imprisoned Thoughts about his grandson, Jose Angelico his actions, news of his death etc. What does he think of what Gardo has done, is doing? His thoughts about Olivia Anything else that you think might help you create an interesting diary entry. TTT Write an additional chapter (short) from Pia Dante’s point of view as she watches the boys in the Naravo graveyard. Reread pages 205209. You could include: Her thoughts and feelings prior to seeing the boys. What is she doing here? Remember her childlike point of view Her memories of the past, her father What does she think the boys are doing? Description of the boys, is she scared of them? Anything else that you think might help you create an additional chapter form Pia’s point of view. Creative Writing
