Why I am interested in the RBS PREP program

In the rainy days of April, although most children of his age would be playing with toys, Game

boys, or computers, he did not. This is not to say that he was not interested in those things, but they

were not his primary pass-time events. Legos devoured his time each day, and he loved to read. No

book was left unread and uncompleted. When he was in third grade, his reading level and taste were

that of a high schooler. This child loved challenges and puzzles. Today he has an eclectic set of

hobbies, from playing 80s music on his blood red guitar to building theremins. These activities build

my self-esteem and confidence. In the same trend I am interested in the course at the Rutgers Business

school Pre-college Enrichment Program.

I wish to pursue a career in engineering because I have a natural tendency to enjoy building and

constructing modular objects. I understand that business acumen is essential to be successful in any

field. I am strongly interested to know the fundamental concepts of commerce. Additionally I am

interested in any new challenges and new experiences that are different from my routine schoolwork. I

am willing to spend my saturdays to acquire knowledge of business. I am looking forward to finding

mentors and friends to build a strong network of business professionals.

Although Rutgers is the university in our backyard I have been there only twice so far. This

opportunity at RBS PREP will give me firsthand experience at college level learning and I am

anticipating a successful learning experience on the campus. Business is a discipline that can be

combined with virtually any other field. I want to get an introduction to possible combinations of

business and engineering. In less than 24 months I will be off to a college and I want to attend this

program to get a feel of the college environment. I want to drive my curiosity to learn about

entrepreneurship and business programs because this may very well change my future decisions and

career path.

I wish to take every opportunity with an open mind and I intend to bring to this program my

curiosity and drive to learn. I wish to be one of the 20 lucky juniors to attend this program because I

will discover new career opportunities.
