RAVELLO FESTIVAL 2008 This edition is dedicated to the memory of the painter, designer and writer Enrico Job, who has been consistently close to the festival with his tremendous creativity, offering a wonderful example of the

synthesis which may reach the diversity workshop.

THE DIVERSITY The Ravello Festival 2008 edition takes into account the theme of diversity: in its positive sense, as fruitful coexistence and the pacific comparison between different entities, not approved, and in its negative connotation, as refusal of equality, fairness, tolerance, inclusion. The festival aims to show the advantages of the variety, the distinction, of polyphony, of the dialectic constructive. And it does so through music, scientific and literary reflection, dance, cinema, design and visual arts. Alongside the many news offered from the rich programme of the 2008 festival, there is one of particular importance: its extension from the end of June to the end of October, which makes it the widest and composite event within the vast European festivals panorama. With this enlargement, which requires a greater number of artists and an organisational effort far more intense, the Ravello Festival starts a new life that will be given by the Auditorium Oscar Niemeyer, finally available from 2009. The shows are the visible part of the Festival, the tip emerged iceberg. But behind each of them there is the work of tens of persons engaged in designing and implementation, in order to share with the public the joys of beauty. To them we should add both teachers and students of the cultural management school, that work alongside the festival. The professionalism of this team and the excellence of its organisation represent yet another prodigy of what Ravello is capable of.
