C&CWelcome To

Where inspiration lives

Since Mrs Chesterton founded our organisation 87 years ago to provide refuge to homeless young women, we have continued to offer inspirational, person-centered care and support to vulnerable people, including:

• frail older people who require personal or nursing care

• people living with dementia

• active older people living in sheltered and extra-care housing

• people with mental health support needs

Today, we are the housing provider “where inspiration lives”. We aim to be inspirational in everything we do and to promise our residents and service users the very best service.

Most of the time this means allowing our residents to play a substantial role in shaping their service. We have a dedicated team that oversees engagement opportunities, including our Resident Scrutiny Panel, which is recognised in the industry for the inclusion into its membership of care residents and their relatives, and its focus on care issues. At our care homes, this engagement translates into regular resident and relative meetings and flexible support plans that are reviewed periodically.

We believe that life in care can be truly inspirational. We know that for many of our residents a simple conversation can be a valuable social interaction, and our homes are often a hive of activity with thriving communal spaces. We have a dedicated Creative Arts programme, which has run for over 27 years and offers our residents a source of stimulation beneficial to older people, particularly those living with dementia. Projects at our care homes include gardening workshops, interactive drama sessions, all-abilities yoga and choir groups; Rathmore House has itself hosted several activities projects including music therapy classes.

C&C’s aim is to be recognised as an innovative provider of excellent homes and services for older people. We are a multi-award winning organisation - since 2012, we have won six awards at regional and national level that celebrate our distinction in care services, housing services and our Creative Arts programme.

Have a read through our customised information pack, and come and join us where inspiration lives.

YOUR ROOM

spacious and light filled personal spaceIt’s hard to tell you what our rooms are like, because we leave that to those who live in them.

We want our residents to feel at home when they come into our care, so we personalise and furnish our rooms to each particular taste. And if they take to our own stylish furniture and vintage artwork - well that’s fine too.

Soft-wood “front doors” with brass numbering remind our residents and care staff that, for many, their room is their home, and Rathmore’s ample windows lay our rooms out to floods of light and vibrant greenery.

Above all, our rooms hold the little details that make life more comfortable. Many are ensuite, fitted with facilities that cater to varying levels of need, and our dementia specialism informs numerous design features in the room, including our dementia-friendly furniture.

Our care homes are homely, relaxed and personalised.

DINING

Good food is one of life’s pleasuresOur residents enjoy a wide choice of home-cooked meals, prepared daily by a team of professional chefs. Our caterers - Caterplus - specialise in care, using fresh, high quality produce and creating flexible menus that balance nutrition, taste and affordability.

We change the menu every four weeks and feature a choice of meals, including vegetarian options. Other meals are available for residents who want an alternative to any of the main choices.

Not only do we take account of all dietary requirements, we go the extra mile to ensure our residents’ varying tastes are catered for. We organise regular meetings between our chefs and residents to discuss the menus and find out every new resident’s likes and dislikes so they’re well looked after from the moment they arrive with us.

We believe that food is at the heart of life. It is more than just nutrition.

YOUR ACTIVITIES

Inspirational life with meaningful activities

We believe that people living in care can have inspirational lives.

Our residents take part in meaningful and social activities, whether that’s one-to-one catch-ups with our staff or a group activity in our busy communal lounge.

Some activities are run by C&C’s Creative Arts programme, which has been providing award-winning artistic and therapeutic activities to our residents for over 30 years.

Activities typically include:

art classes

card and other games

We want our residents to continue to be active citizens.

GARDEN

Enjoy gorgeous outdoor surroundings

There is something about the garden at Rathmore House that is unlike any other.

Residents and visitors enjoy its generous features, including a charming pot-filled patio area for entertaining friends and family and quiet benches for reading or enjoying peaceful solitude.

Throughout the garden you’ll find inspiring ideas that our residents have used to create an area they can take pride in.

Many residents enjoy a walk around the garden and some choose to plant flowers with their friends and carers.

We believe in freedom of movement and independence in our homes.
