The school has 35 buses plying in different directions driven by well experienced drivers and a caretaker in each bus. The campus is under the CCTV surveillance round the clock. An institution runs smoothly due to the responsibilities carried out by the cabinet of members which include student representation also. The students from class 4 to 10 of our school elected its Captains & Vice- Captains in a democratic manner by casting their votes for the nominated

thcandidate on 8 of June 2016. Pratigna Sweekar Samarambh of the elected Captains and Vice- Captains was administered on

th18 of June 2016. The guest of honour for the occasion was Shri Radhakrishna Holla, Mahanagar Prachark Pramukh who handed over the badges to the newly elected Captains & Vice Captains. He in his motivational speech spoke about the leadership qualities possessed by Chhatrapati Shivaji Maharaj and requested the students to inherit few of his qualities and lead the students in the right path. The oath was administered to all the leaders by Smt. Manjula, the Pradhanacharya.

Co- Scholastic Activities------Showcase of SkillsSDP (Class 1 to 5)

Activities like storytelling, drawing, colouring, poster making, singing Earth Anthem written by Abhay Kumar, creating awareness about the advantages and use of Bio gas, clay modelling, memory test, dry leaves activity, making book mark, handwriting, debate on Gurukula and Modern system of education & collecting dry leaves and

marking landscapes, skit on Gurukula system and rakhi making were conducted for students of class 1 to 5. SDP (Class 6 to 10)

As a part of CCE the students are divided into various clubs which conduct activities on weekly basis. Organisation club conducted activities like clay model of early tools and chart representing policies and programmes of Modi Government.Science club and Math club organised activities like balancing Equations, geoboard for polygons, model to show different types of pollution, quiz on metal maths and panel discussion – Interrelation between math & other subjects. Literary club conducted activities like writing slogans, reciting shlokas, extempore, presentation on Indian poets, Idioms & Proverbs, newspaper making, collage of Indian freedom fighters, debate etc. in four languages namely English, Hindi. Sanskrit and Kananda. ICT club organised activities like chart presentation on evolution of computers, chart on famous IT personalities and PPT on Photoshop. Inter House Competition was conducted for football & throwball as part of SDP programme. General

sessions for all students from class 6 to 10 was also conducted on health and hygiene taken by Smt. Annet & Shri Vasanth Kumar and basic yoga asanas by ISHA Foundation. Recreation games, running, jumping, throwing & Co-ordinating activities, speed exercises, hoops relay, single leg hopping, jumping high knee action, basketball, kabaddi, etc. was conducted for pupils of class 1 to 5. The students of class 6-10 practised their selected games along with walking walk & jogging exercise, jogging step up exercises and learnt fundamental skills & techniques in sports, basketball, throw ball, dodgeball, kabaddi, etc. Special coaching was given to interested students from class 5 to 10 in athletics, basketball, throw ball & table tennis. The students of class 1 to 10 were taught Om chanting, Yoga mantra, Pancha Sheela mantra & Santhi Mantra, Shitilikarana Vyayama- Jogging and hand stretching practices and Breathing Exercises, Chin mudra & Pranayama- bhramari. They were also taught few breathing exercises like deep, slow and shallow, meditation with breath awareness, etc. They were also taught yogasanas like Veerasana, Parvatasana, Tadasana, Vrikshasana, Halasana, Sarvangasana, Arda Chakrasana, Makarasana & Bhujangaasana etc.

The pupils of class 1 & 2 were taught Ganesha Sthuthi and Gita book songs whereas the students of class 3 to 10 were Saraswathi Sthuthi (Sharada Visharada & Jayadevi Sharade) & Gita book songs. Patriotic songs were also to the students. Under Keyboard the students of class 1 & 2 were taught basic lessons in C#- scale and notes for national anthem, class 3, 4 & 5 were introduced to Ragg-Bhupali and Swargeeth whereas Class 6 -10 were taught Raag-

Brindavan Sarang and Swargeeth. Under Dance the students were taught Namaskara, Dhyana Shloka with action and other dance forms such as Tattadavu, Hastas, Nattadavu, Paravaladavu, terms of Bharatanatyam etc. In Tabla the students of class 1 & 2 were taught basic words of tabla and were introduced to parts of tabla, the pupils of class 3 to 5 were given revision of previous years teachings with increase of speed, students of class 6 to 8 were taught new talas, important words & its development and class 9 & 10 were taught new talas, Tabla Bandish & its variations.

Pin Up Board To encourage healthy competition and build up team spirit in children pin up board topics are given and they are displayed house wise. Points are awarded to respective houses according to their display. The topics for the quarter were * Class 1 to 3: Mother Earth, My Favourite Teacher , Our Tricolour Flag and Rio Olympics. * Class 4 & 5 : Natural Resources and

their Conservation, Guru's from Indian History and Stories behind freedom and India’s contribution in Rio Olympics. *Class 6 to 10: My Responsibilities Towards Mother Earth, Guru – A Margadarshi , Make in India and Journey of Bharath in Olympics.

A newspaper is a form of printed media consisting of a number of sheets of printed papers. It contains informative articles on news, education, events, reviews and advertisements. It provides us with information collected from around the globe. Newspaper is a source of knowledge for children as it provides various information on different fields of education and economy. Reading newspaper also enriches the language skills of the students and keeping this in mind our school provides papers for students from class 5 to 10.

Educational trips give students a chance to build closer bonds with their classmates, experience new environments and enjoy a day away from the classroom. It also helps them in reinforcing what a teacher has been instructing in class about a subject and help students understand the topic better. Taking students into a new environment gives them the experience of traveling in a group and teaches them to be respectful of the locations they visit. Keeping this in mind our school organises trips for children. The places that our students visited during this quarter are

Akkayamma Hills & Decathlon on 27 June 2016. They had a wonderful experience of trekking the hills and visited the Lord Siva temple there. They were also taken to Decathlon where they saw various sports equipment and also learnt to play different types of sports.

th The pupils of class 7 were taken to the HAL Museum on 29 of June 2016. The children had an opportunity to see various models of aircrafts,helicopter,aircraft engines, flights simulators a mock Air traffic Control .Tower and exhibit of Indian aviation history. Demonstration on how the aircrafts worked was also given. The tiny tots of UKG were taken to

th thNature study on 29 and 30 of June. The children enjoyed the beauty of nature and saw different types of plants & flowers.

th The students of class 9 were taken to Ghati Goshala on 12 of July 2016. They saw different breeds of indigenous cows and learnt how to keep them healthy and fit. They also learnt about various methods of

preparing fodder and that the Goshala is manged through electricity generated by the Ghosala.th st

The students of class 6 visited Muddenahalli on 20 & 21 July 2016. They first visited the 'Samadhi' of Sir M. Vishweshwariah and the museum where his belongings are kept. Then they were taken to Sri Sathya Sai Institutions where they visited the meditations halls in the campus and then saw videos on the various services rendered by the institution to the society. The children also got an opportunity to see various things that Satya Sai Baba had used when he was alive.

The students visited the following temples and offered their prayers to the lord and chanted shlokas.

rdThe students of class10 visited the Geological Survey of India on 3 August 2016. The students visited the rock museum where they saw different types of rocks. The method of making maps was taught to them and they also learnt about the difference between Topo maps and Geographical maps.

th The students of class 7 visited the Mysore Printing Pvt. Ltd. on 5 August 2016. The students were briefed about the importance of gathering and printing news and where also taken around the press where

they saw the machines used for printing purpose. They also had any opportunity to see the raw materials and specific colours used in combination for printing.

th The students of class 3 visited the Seva in Action on 8 August 2016.They had an opportunity to see the mentally challenged students given training in various fields like candle making, weaving of mat and making of holi powder with flowers. They also visited the library.

rd The students of class 2 visited GPO on 23 August 2016. The children were taken to different sections which involved activities like segregation of letters, sealing, etc. The students also got an opportunity to see various stamps that were used in olden days

External Achievements Behind every brilliant performance there are countless hours of practice and preparation. This hard work and strong determination in our students has indeed brought laurels to our school and has given us the opportunity to be proud of them. qualified in 8 events for the National Level Swimming competition by breaking 20 year State record in 50 m Breast Stroke with a timing of 39.98 seconds at the State Level Junior and Sub Junior Swimming Competition

Vidith S Sankar of class 5 secured the first prize in 50 m Backstroke in 36.56 seconds, 50 m Butterfly competition in 33.21 seconds, 200m Individual Medley in 2.46.87 seconds, 4x50 Medely relay and 4x50 Freestyle Relay and

rd3 position in 100m Free Style. Arushi Manjunath of Class 8 secured the second position in 4x50 rd

Medley Relay and 3 position in 100m Breast Stroke in 1min 24.12 seconds. Dhatri Darshan of class 5 secured the second position in 4x 50 Freestyle Relay. Ambar J Singh of class 4 qualified for the finals in 4x50 Individual Medley and 50 m Butterfly Stroke. The overall Individual Championship was bagged by Vidith S Sankar who won 5 gold medals & a bronze medal.

School on 20 August 2016. The school secured the first position by winning 32 gold, 18 silver & 13 bronze medals.

Yoga Vidya Bharathi District Level Yogasana Competition was conducted

thin JGRV Kalyan Nagar, Bangalore on 7 July, 2016. 24 students participated in the competition and bagged 9 gold, 7 silver & 5 Bronze medals in three different categories. They also secured 1 gold and 1 silver in rhythmic yoga. Five students were selected for the State Level Yoga Competition to be held at August.

Basketball Our school secured the first position in the U/14 Boys State and Zonal Level Basketball

st stCompetition held at Sharadha Vidyanikethan School, Mangalore held on 20 & 21 August 2016. The team will represent the school at the National Level Competition.

Athletics Our students participated in the State Level Athletic Meet conducted by Young

nd rdStar Sports Trust on 22 & 23 July 2016 at Kanteerva Stadium, Bangalore. Meenakshi Sundaram of class 6 won the second position in High Jump, jumping a length of 1.18 mts. in the U/12 category.

15 students from participated in the Chess competition conducted ndby Vidyabharathi on 2 August 2016. The students bagged 8 gold medal & 7 silver medals. 6 students

qualified for the State Level Competition to be held during the month of October. 40 students participated and brought laurels to the school by winning 16 gold ,15 silver & 12

th thbronze medals in the Athletics competition conducted by Vidyabharathi on 5 & 6 of August 2016. 15 students qualified for the State Level Competition and the Overall Individual Championship award was won 4 students.

Badmintonth District and State Level Badminton competitions were conducted by Vidyabharthi on 13 of

August 2016 at JGRVK. 3 students from participated in the tournament and they secured the first position in District Level & second position in the State Level Competition.

CHESSth

3 students participated at the Vidyabharthi State Level Chess competition held on 13 August 2016 in Udupi. The students bagged 1 silver and 2 Bronze medals.

ROOTS The first ROOTS (Rashtrotthana Old students Organisation for

Transformation of the Society) meeting for the academic year 2017-17 thwas conducted on 25 June 2016. Around 40 members attended the

meeting which was organised in the school campus. Sri Maheshwariah

the coordinator convened the meeting and urged the students to carry forward the mission & vision of

the institution. A future plan of action to be carried out for the forth coming year and the activities to be

conducted was also discussed.

th ROOTS children of RVK-A were taken on trekking to Shivagange Hill on 10 July 2016. 27 students from different batches took part in this excursion. The main objective of this programme was to reconnect the ROOTS members to the ideology of alma mater. They had a formal meeting to discuss the future activities of ROOTS. After enjoying the trekking to the hill, they met the Swamiji of Shivagange Mutt. He blessed the children with his invaluable words and also appreciated and recognized Rashtrotthana Parishat for its social work. the children collectively gave a an amount to the Swamiji for the welfare of children studying there. The children wore a special ROOTS T-shirt to spread the thought behind Rashtrotthana schools. Overall the programme was fruitful in reconnecting the ROOTS members to fulfil the ideology of the school.

Celebrations are some of the core aspects of any culture. Whether it is a harvest festival, a religious holiday, or a national observance, our celebrations are woven tightly into our overall cultural identity. These festivals bring them closer to each other as well as the country, and instil a feeling of patriotism as well. For students, it is a great way to understand the rich heritage of India and learn about the importance of various festivals. So, let's have a peep into the various celebrations organized during the quarter.

Moments of Jubilation

th The birth anniversary of Vinayak Damodar Sarvarkar was celebrated on 28 May 2016. Shri Suresh, Vibhag Prachark (Bengaluru North) was the guest of honour and he spoke about the life of the great freedom fighter and his contributions to the freedom struggle. The students of class 9 dedicated a song in praise of the great leader and freedom fighter.

Aksharabhyasa for all new entrants of Pre Primary students (Montessori to LKG) and Prathamapata for all the new entrants

th thfrom UKG to 8 Std. was organised on 29 May 2016. The occasion was graced by Saadvi Uma Bharati, Siddharoodha Mutt, Nelamangala. The day started with

Saraswathi Homa and Gana Homa followed by Poornahuthi in the presence of Saadvi and other dignitaries. Sri.A.G.K.Nayak, Member Management Committee Rashtrotthana Parishat in his keynote address spoke about the aim and vision of the institution, which is to bring about an overall development in children by training them academically as well as imbibing the ageless values and traditions in them Saadvi Uma Bharathi in her Ashirwachana highlighted the importance of parents in a child's life and requested them to teach their wards the value of truthfulness and ahimsa. She also laid stress on

teaching the children to respect elders and their teachers.th

World Environment day was observed on 6 June 2016. The theme of the year being 'Poaching' the students of class 9 performed a mime act on saving our planet Earth and sang a song on Mother Nature which was thought provoking. Apeksha of class 9 gave a speech on how to build a clean and green environment.

th Green Day was observed by the Pre-primary children on 6 of June 2016. The students came in green attire & were shown various things of green colour.

Hindu Samrajya Divas, the day that Chhatrapati Shivaji was th

coroneted as the king of the Hindavi Swaraj, was observed on 18 of June 2016. The students of class X sang a Marathi song in praise of the great leader. The guest of honour Shri Radhakrishna Holla, Mahanagar Prachark Pramukh spoke about the leadership qualities possessed by Shivaji Maharaj and urged the children to live for the country and not die for it.

st International Day of Yoga was observed on 21 of June 2016. The guest of honour for the day was Sri Manjunath Swamy from Vishwa Hindu Parishat who is also a Pracharak in RSS. The students of class 3 to 10 performed yogasanas in the school ground. They were also accompanied by parents and students of PU College. The pupils of class 2 presented a skit on the importance of yoga in our daily life highlighting the benefits doing yoga every day. There was also a breathtaking rhythmic yoga display by the students. The chief guest in his speech spoke about the significance of performing yoga. He said that performing yoga increases the concentration power and also related the presence of names of various animals in shlokas recited in connection with yogasanas with the particular character that can be learnt from it. The students of class 6 visited the nearby government schools and spread the awareness of doing yoga on daily basis.

th Guru Poornima was celebrated on 19 of July 2016. The students of class 8 offered their respects to the guru by chanting a shloka and speaking about the various gurus in Indian mythology.

th The little stars celebrated Red day on 15 of July, 2016. The students came dressed in red attire. They were shown pictures of objects in red colour and they also recited rhymes related to red. The children learnt a lot about things in red and enjoyed the day.

st We observed the Punyathithi of Bal Gangadhar Tilak on 1 August 2016. The students of class 7 spoke about the life of the great patriot and also presented a skit highlighting few incidents from his life. They also highlighted the fact

that the festival of Ganesh Chathurthi was introduced by him. Our school paid their respects to the Marty's who sacrificed their

ndlife during the Kargil war by observing Kargil Vijay Divas on 2 of August 2016. Neha of class 10 delivered a speech which was both thought provoking and triggered a

strong feeling of patriotism in the children. A skit was also presented by the students of class 9 & 10 which threw light on the life of soldiers who have dedicated their life for the well-being of the citizens of India.

rd Flowers Day was celebrated by the tiny tots on 3 August 2016. Different varieties of flowers were placed in a trolley and was exhibited and explained by a child dressed as a flower vendor.

The festival of Nagarpanchami was celebrated in a traditional thmanner in on 6 of August 2016. The students of class 3 highlighted the

importance and the various rituals performed during the festival and also spoke about the various beliefs behind celebrating the festival was also told.

Blue Day on 9 August 2016. The students were shown various objects that were in blue colour & also videos and rhymes.

th The 70 Independence of our nation

thwas celebrated on 15 August 2016 with a strong feeling of patriotism displayed by the

students through their performances. The programme started with the lighting of the lamp by the chief guest Air Commodore K Vijay Kumar, who is currently posted as Command Engineering Officer at Head Quarters, Training Command, IAF Hebbal. Air Cammodre Vijay Kumar in his speech appreciated the students for their marvellous performance. He spoke about the various patriots who laid down their lives for securing the freedom of our country. He also urged the children to

imbibe in them the qualities of honesty, integrity and appropriateness and highlighted the importance of elders and parents in a child's life. The programme proceeded with a hoops performance, yoga display and pyramid formation by students of class 5. The students of class 8 also exhibited their talent by performing a scintillating dance which portrayed unity in diversity of Bharath. The students of PU College presented a dance & song as well. The students who excelled in class 10 and 7 in

academics and those who made our school proud by bringing laurels to our school in co-scholastic fields during the academic year 2015-16 were felicitated by the Chief Guest. National Library Day was observed in the memory of eminent Mathematician and Librarian

The message of brother-hood was further strengthened when the students of class 6 to 10 visited different schools in and around Arkavthy Layout where they gave a speech highlighting the historical significance of the festival and sang a song about unity & brotherhood. rd The tiny tots celebrated Vegetable Day on 23 August 2016. Various vegetables were on display and the students highlighted the nutritional value of eating each vegetable.

th Krishna Janmastami was celebrated on 26 August in a traditional manner. The children came dressed in traditional attire and the students of class 6 performed a dance and also spoke about the mythological significance of the festival in the morning assembly. Lord Krishna's idol was taken around the campus in a chariot pulled by the students of class 10. The students from class 3 to 9 offered flowers to the lord while the chariot was being pulled combined with various dance forms performed by the students of class 6. The procession ended with the 'Dahi Handi' being broken by the

The second session was by Ramachandra Kotamanay about 'Yoga & Health'. He spoke about the significance of chanting 'Omkara' and the positive effect it has in our body. Dr Bhim Rao Ambedkar, popularly known as Babasaheb Ambedkar, is a celebrated leader, who flagged the 'Constitution of India'. He was a well known statesman who fought for the rights of the Dalits and other socially backward classes. Born on 14th April 1891, his reforms are echoed across the country in the form of 'Ambedkar Jayanti'. Ambedkar was appointed as the nation's first Law Minister in the Cabinet of Jawaharlal Nehru. He was posthumously awarded the Bharat Ratna, India's highest civilian honor in 1990.

According to Ambedkar the only way to enhance Indian economy was to instill growth in the industrial and agricultural sector. Ambedkar advocated national economic and social development by laying stress on education, public hygiene, community health, residential facilities as the basic amenities. In 1951, Ambedkar established the Finance Commission of India He opposed income tax .for low-income groups. He contributed in Land Revenue Tax and excise duty policies to stabilise the economy.He played an important role in land reform and state economic development. According to him, the caste system divided labourors and impeded economic progress. He emphasised on a free economy with a stable Rupee along with equal rights for women for economic development.
