Macroeconomic Aggregates1. The State Domestic Product(SDP) is one of the important indicators used to

measure the growth of the state’s economy.2. SDP represents the value of all goods and services produced within the state.3. SDP is a reflection of economic development of the state and its derivative

Per Capita Income is a suitable measure of the well-being of its People.

Directorate of Economics and Statistics, Rajasthan1. The Directorate of Economics and Statistics, Rajasthan has been

bringing out estimates of SDP on a regular basis and keeping it up todate from time to time.

2. The Directorate works as per the guidelines and methodology providedby the National Accounts Division(NAD), National StatisticalOffice(NSO), Ministry of statistics and programme implementation,GOI.

State Domestic Product(SDP)1. The SDP of Rajasthan prepared at both current and constant prices.2. The SDP is prepared for all the sectors of the economy both in terms of Gross

and Net Basis.a. The difference between two is that in the gross estimates, no deduction

is made for Consumption of Fixed Capital(CFC) which takes place in

www.AswaTHinstitue.com 7737313911 CEO: Rajpurohit Anil

Contact: 7737313911the process of production, whereas in the net estimates, CFC issubtracted from the gross value.

i. Net = Gross - Consumption of Fixed Capital (Depreciation) (✓)

Gross Domestic Product (Country) & SDP (State)1. GDP(Country) gives a reasonable estimate of the entire nation's

output, SDP(State) provides more detailed economic details aboutsubnational territories.

Gross State Domestic Product (GSDP)1. Gross State Domestic Product (GDP) is a monetary measure of the

market value of all the final goods and services produced within theboundaries of the State during the given period of time.

Real GDP, Nominal GDP and GDP Deflator1. Real GDP: Real GDP is calculated in a way such that the goods and

services are evaluated at some constant set of prices (or constantprices).

2. Nominal GDP: the value of GDP at the current prevailing prices.a. Example:

i. In the year 2000, the firm produced 100 pieces of bread, each with a price of 10 rs.

1. The GDP at a constant rate/price was 100*10 =1000.

ii. Let suppose in 2001 the firm produced 110 pieces ofbread and had 15rs.

1. The GDP at the current price(Nominal GDP) was110*15=1650rs.

2. And real GDP at the constant price was110*10=1100.

3. GDP deflator= Nominal GDP/Real GDPa. From previous Eg.:

i. GDP deflator = 1650/1100 = 1.51. Means price of product is 1.5 times increase.

GSDP at Current Price1. The GSDP at current prices obtained by evaluating the product at

current prices prevailing during the ongoing year.2. The GSDP at current prices, over time, do not reveal actual economic

growth because these contain the combined effect of:a. The change in the volume of goods and services and

www.AswaTHinstitue.com 7737313911 CEO: Rajpurohit Anil

Contact: 7737313911b. The change in the prices of goods and services.

3. GSDP(Rajasthan) at Current price(2020-21): ₹9,57,912 crore(✓)4. GSDP(Rajasthan) at Current price(2019-20): ₹9,98,999 crore

a.

GSDP at constant(2011-12) prices1. It is calculated to eliminate the effect of price changes/inflation.2. The GSDP are also prepared by evaluating the goods and services at

the prices prevailing in the fixed year known as Base Year and areknown as the estimates of GSDP at Constant Prices.

2. GSDP(Rajasthan) at Constant price: ₹6,43,222 crore(✓)

Growth of GSDP of Rajasthan is as follows1. GSDP at Current price: - 4.11% (✓)

a.

2. GSDP at Constant price(2011-12): - 6.61% (✓)

www.AswaTHinstitue.com 7737313911 CEO: Rajpurohit Anil

Contact: 7737313911

a.3. Note: For both Contant price & Current price of GSDP, shows

decreasing trends in the financial year 2020-21.

Net State Domestic Product ( NSDP )1. It is an annual measure of a nation's economic output that is adjusted for

depreciation and is calculated by subtracting depreciation from the grossdomestic product (GSDP).

a. NSDP = GSDP - Depreciation (✓)

2. NSDP ( Rajasthan ) at:

a.

b. NSDP at constant price: ₹5,70,143 crore(✓)c. NSDP at current price: ₹8,62,633 crore(✓)

Gross State Value Added ( GSVA )1. It is a crucial measure because it is used to determine gross state domestic

product (GSDP).2. Gross value added (GVA) is defined as the value of output less the value of

intermediate consumption.a. It is used to measure the output or contribution of a particular sector.

www.AswaTHinstitue.com 7737313911 CEO: Rajpurohit Anil

Contact: 7737313911b. When such GVAs from all sectors (∑ GVA) are added together and

adding taxes (product) and reducing subsidies (product), we can getthe GDP (at market price). GVA thus shows the production contributionof a particular sector.

3. The relationship between GVA and GDPi. GVA = GDP + Govt Subsidies on products – Tax. (✓)

Sectoral contribution of GVA at Current & Constant Price

GVA at Current Price ( 2020-21 ):(✓)1. Agriculture: 29.77%2. Industries: 24.80%3. Services: 45.43%

4.

GVA at constant ( 2011-12 ) price: (✓)1. Agriculture: 29.45%2. Industries: 28.15%3. Services: 42.40%

Per Capita Income (PCI)1. The per capita income derived by dividing the Net state Domestic Product by

mid-year total population.

a.2. Per capita Income is a pointer of the standard of living and the well-being of

people.

Price Statistics1. Price tends to change over time as well as across geographical areas due to

various economic, social and political factors.2. Prices influence various economic decisions, particularly financial monitoring

of price change is extremely important as they have a direct bearing oneconomic policy and planning.

3. The primary tool for monitoring these changes is the price index.a. A Price Index measures the relative change in the price levels of

commodities or services in a region during a given period of time.

www.AswaTHinstitue.com 7737313911 CEO: Rajpurohit Anil

Contact: 7737313911b. Consumer Price Index(CPI) and Wholesale Price Index(WPI), are two

important indices which measure the prices at retail and wholesalelevel respectively.

Price Statistics in Rajasthan1. The Directorate of Economics and Statistics( DES ) has been collecting

the wholesales and retail prices of the essential commodities regularly since1957 from selected centres across the state every week.

a. On the basis of wholesale prices, monthly wholesale prices indices arebeing prepared.

b. The Consumer Price Indices for industrial workers are prepared andreleased by the Labour Bureau, Shimla for Jaipur, Ajmer, andBhilwara centres of the State. (✓)

Wholesale Price Index ( WPI ) of Rajasthan1. WPI is the only general index capturing price movements in a

comprehensive way at the overall economic level and is an indicator ofmovement in the price of commodities in all trades andtransactions.(✓)

2. WPI serves as an important determinant in the formulation of trade, fiscal, monetary and other economic policies by the government and isalso used by financial institutions, industries and business circles.

3. Besides monitoring the price changes in the economy, WPI is alsoused as an indicator in the computation of GSDP.

4. It also helps in monitoring changes in the relative prices of differentgroups of commodities like primary articles, agricultural commodities, raw material, industrial products, food and other non-food items.

5. WPI helps in the comparative study of changes in prices at the nationaland global level.

6. The Rajasthan government releases the WPI on a monthly basis. (✓)a.

1. The wholesale price for all commodities moved from 310.56 inthe year 2019 to 330.86 in the year 2020 registering an increaseof 6.54 %. (✓)

Consumer Price Index(CPI)1. CPI is a measure that examines the weighted average of prices of a

basket of consumer goods and services, such as transportation, food, and medical care.

2. It is calculated by taking price changes for each item in thepredetermined basket of goods and averaging them. Such changesaffect the real purchasing power of consumers' income and theirwelfare.

3. There are four types of Consumer price index prepared every month.a. Industrial workers(CPI-IW) by Labour Bureau, Shimlab. Agricultural Labourers(CPI-AL) by Labour Bureau, Shimlac. Rural Labourers(CPI-RL) by Labour Bureau, Shimlad. Rural and Urban(CPI-R&U) by the National Statistical

Office(NSO), New Delhi

Note:1. The General Consumer Price Index for Rajasthan stood at

153.06 in the year 2020, which was 144.91 in the year 2019showing an increase of 5.62 % point.(✓)

Consumer Price Index for Industrial Workers ( CPI-IW) ( Base year2016=100) (✓)

1. The CPI-IW measures the temporal change in the retail prices ofa fixed basket of goods and services consumed by an averageworking-class family. Thus, it is an essential indicator of thechange in the country’s average industrial worker’s consumptionlevel.

2. The target groups of CPI-IW are factories, mining, plantations, motor transport, ports and docks, railways and electricityproduction and distribution establishment.

3. The consumer price indices for industrial workers are preparedand released by the Labour Bureau, Shimla for Jaipur, Ajmer, and Bhilwara’s centres.
