MN 45, MN 65, MN 80, MN 110 & MN 140Star-Delta starters are available only in FASDversion.

ConstructionMN starters consist of MNX contactors & MNrelays. The relay is directly mounted on thecontactor. The colour of the sheet steel enclosureis two-toned. The box is powder coated and grayin colour. The cover is powder coated with ivorycolour. The push button is flush mounted in anenclosure cover, which has been given analtogether `new look'.

Operational DetailsRelay Setting

A screwdriver is used to set the relayindicator (which is on the dial) to thefull load current setting. This ensuresoptimum protection under Overload andSingle Phasing of the motor. In case ofStar-Delta Starters, the relay must be setat the values In /j (0.58 In) as given inthe selection table, since the connectedrelay carries only the phase current inMotors having Delta connected winding.

• MN 16, 25, 32 DOL startersincorporate MN 2 relays.

• MN 45, 65 DOL starters incorporateMN 5 relays.

MN Star-Delta Starters

MN Star-Delta starters are available insemi automatic and fully automaticversions.

MN 16, 25, 32, 45, 65, 80, 110, 140Star-Delta starters incorporate typeMNX contactors.

• MN 16, 25, 32, Star-Delta startersincorporate MN 2 relays.

• MN 45, 65, 80, 110, Star-Delta startersincorporate MN 5 relays.

• MN 140 Star-Delta startersincorporate MN 12L relays.

In case of SASD Starters, the motorgets connected in Star connection whenthe green button is pressed, afterreleasing the green button motor getsconnected in Delta connection. Thebutton must be released only when themotor reaches its normal speed.

In case of FASD Starter, motor getsconnected in Star connection, whenthe green button is pressed. An electronictimer automatically performs the change-over function from Star to Delta.

Single Phasing Protection

MN relays having phase failuresensitive tripping mechanismprovides reliable protection againstSingle Phasing & Overloadconditions. MN relays arecompensated for variation in ambienttemperature from -5°C to 55°C.

Terminal BlockMN Star-Delta starters are providedwith terminal block with properterminal marking for ease of wiring.Terminal block can accommodateboth aluminium & copper cables.

Features & BenefitsBase Plate Mounting

MN Star-Delta starters are mountedon base plate that can absorbvibrations and it makes MN startersmaintenance friendly.

Electronic TimerMN Fully Automatic Star-Deltastarters are provided with ElectronicTimer for high repeat accuracy.

Trip Test FacilityThis facility enables the user tomanually check the operation of thetrip mechanism. Move the trip slide inthe direction shown on the relay. Therelay trips with an audible 'Click'sound, indicating that the tripmechanism is in good working order.

Off / Reset Push-ButtonThe relay will trip in case of overloadsor single phasing conditions.

Simultaneously 'Alarm Contact' (97-98) will close. The motor cannot berestarted until the relay has beenreset. To reset the relay, allow thebimetals to cool down sufficiently &push this button to reset the tripcontact (95-96).

If the relay is in reset condition,pressing this push-button will open'Trip Contact'. But now the alarmcontact will not close. This indicateshealthy operation of the relaymechanism. The trip contact willagain close when this button isreleased.

Auto-Manual Reset SwitchThere are two modes of resetavailable : Manual and Auto. Bydefault the relay is in the Manual resetmode and can be converted to Autoreset mode by moving the switch toAuto position marked on the label.
