A joint $1.3 billion investment into newtechnologies designed to reduce CO2

SUSTAINABLE MANUFACTURING. USINGFEWER RESOURCES AND CREATING LESS WASTE

World-class manufacturing facilities, certified to ISO14001 since 1998. As acompany, we are targeting a 25 percentreduction in operating CO2 emissions by2012, 25 percent in waste-to-landfill and10 percent in water consumption, basedon 2007 levels. Our activities include factory energy efficiencies, cutting transport miles and the carbon offset of all CO2 emissions from manufacturingassembly. But it doesn’t stop there.Every new vehicle is designed to be 85percent recyclable and reusable as wellas 95 percent recoverable and reusable,with 10 percent specifically for energyrecovery.

CO2 OFFSETTING. INVESTINGIN RENEWABLE ENERGY, TECH-NOLOGY CHANGE AND ENERGYEFFICIENCY PROJECTS

For every ton of CO2 emitted during themanufacturing assembly of our vehicles,Land Rover invests in carbon-reductionprojects that reduce an equivalent ton ofCO2 elsewhere. In addition, we enableour customers to offset their first 45,000miles (72,000 km) of driving in their newvehicles. We do this in the UK as well ascountries in Europe, the Middle East andAsia. Independently administered by ClimateCare and Forum for the Future,CO2 offsetting allows us to take actionnow, to reduce our impact on the environment, as part of our integratedcarbon-management plan.

CONSERVATION AND HUMANITARIAN PARTNERSHIPS. WORKING PARTNERSHIPS FOR CONSERVATIONAND SOCIETY’S GAIN

Our vehicles are designed for purpose, so they are used by conservation and humanitarian organizations worldwide.Working with our five Global Conservationpartners and the International Federation of Red Cross and Red Crescent Societies (IFRC), Land Rover isproud to support the important work ofthe Royal Geographical Society (with IBG),The Born Free Foundation, Earthwatch Institute, Biosphere Expeditions and theChina Exploration and Research Society.

FACTWe will use lifecycle assessment to understand the environmentalimpact of our vehicles, includingthe use of e_TERRAIN® TECHNOLOGIES, beginning with Range Rover Evoque.

FACTTurning waste food into energy ina trial at Land Rover headquartershas diverted 43 tons of waste fromlandfills and saved 3.7 tons of CO2emissions.

FACTWe plan to offset approximately3,000,000 tons of CO2 emissions by 2012.

FACTIn 2010, Land Rover launched anew three-year global initiativewith the IFRC titled “Reaching Vulnerable People Around theWorld.” Land Rover has supportedthe IFRC’s life-saving work since2007 and to date has given morethan $6.5 million in vital fundingand vehicle support to help vulnerable people around theworld.
