A About RangatiraRangatira is a 33-bedded ward for children aged between 0-14years. The ward specialises in paediatric (children’s) medical conditions.

We look after children from West Auckland, North Shore and Rodney. North Shore Hospital does not currently have a paediatric ward.

Therefore any children requiring hospital admission are transferred to Waitakere Hospital Rangatira Paediatric Ward.

A AdmissionYour child/whanau will be introduced to your nurse and orientated to the ward on admission. You will also be given information packs (pictured opposite) which you may look at when you get time.

In your room on the wall will be a white board (pictured opposite). This is located on the wall above the bedspace. This will have your child’s name, your name, your nurse’s name and any allergies your child may have. Any other information which you feel is important may also be written up on the board.

Information will be given in regards to your child’s care and results discussed with you. Feel free to ask nursing or medical staff questions or alert them to raise any concerns you may have during your stay.
