This page shows the pratice on grasshopper which focus on the loft by using dofferent numbers of curves. in the grasshopper, the points are be actived and can be changed by different domain of dividen points. Using the same operation formula, we can achieve different ersions of model. My design was focus on the construction of the pavilion by using some crazy curves. However, some of the design were quite mess. The structure can be simpified, but also keep the abstract appearance. Moreover, some of them were not geometric and dimensional. The curves may be lifted more vertically. The rounded and flowing curves are the main elements that i utilize in the model.

Defines curved surface to box formDefines rectangular by using gride

This page shows the pratice on trangulation algorithms . The fisrt model on the left was designed by the two bending planes and tried to overlap them. The geometry of the model is quite elegant. The irregular arrangement of the little box provide a sense of distinction on height. The second one is the box which designed by the trangulation system. The delation of some parts made the model more abstract. The model which in the middle is quite similar to that one.

Box Morph

Page 7: Ran tao 668728 sketchbook

Flexibility- This form of the wall is drived ffrom the last lofted surface which utilize the box morph to fill the surface which can detele some of the booxes on the wall to make the wall not common.Elegance-It is a really simple and common form of the vertical wall. The wave form of the edge of the wall provides the a sene of flowing to the geometry.Economy- It can be built in any material very efficient. The structure of the wall is also simple. It will not time consuming.

Flexibility- I set one mesh on the rhino and tried to used as the refernce geometry and twisted and rotated the each reference part. The gap between each part make the different visual perience.Elegance- The apperance is quite elegance. It like the fence, but each part is indenpend and has diferent form and direction.Economy-It is quite easy to construction this form out.

Flexibility-This one is also drive from the one mesh in the rhino. Each part is allow in the center. I can change the arrangement of the holw by altering the algorithmic satisticsElegance-The hollow part allow the sunlight and view can be through the wall. Which provides more fun for the wall.Economy-This kind of wall is difficult to construct. The hollow part is time consuming and labour consuming.

Convert to mesh

Flexibility-This wall is quite different from last one. This one both side of it are morph in the same referencing geometry. The thick of the wall is reduced.Elegance-The hollow part allow the sunlight and view can be through the wall. Which provides more fun for the wall.Economy-This kind of wall is difficult to construct. The hollow part is time consuming and labour consuming.

Flexibility-This mesh is setted on the curved surface. The picture presented quite simple. The mesh just showed out the line on the surface. The sufurce is divided into several different parts which in different geometry.

Flexibility- We can change the shape at any form we prefer and keep the hole in the middle.Elegance-The arhed appaerance of this mesh is quite unique. The difference of the height level will provide different experience for users.Economy-It can be finished by using different kinds of materials. It can be used as the pavilion as well.

Flexibility- This model is achieved from the brep command. Idesigned to combining two solid geometries. And using brep system to rounded the whole modelElegance-The slope on the surface of the geometry make the whole structure more elegant.Economy-It can be eaily constructed by using concrete.

Triangulation

Page 13: Ran tao 668728 sketchbook

This triangulation is achieved from the surface by rotate and twist the mesh on thesurface. It probably can obtain in 2D viewing.

Flexibility- This set of models achieve by traingulating the meshed suface. In oder to make the height distinction, I use sliders to alter the height of the inside and ouside of the individual colunms.Elegance- Each column ais in diferent form, the height different make them like to concentrate in the middle of the whole structureEconomy- It quite difficult to handle that. First, the arrangment of the columns should be connect to the topography.

Flexibility-This structure is created by different kinds of curved surface. And triangulatiion them into octree. The combination of the sphen and boxes is quite elegant and comfort.Elegance-The arrangement of the different shaped geometries is quite elegant and regular.Economy-It is difficult to create the structure. It may spend more currency on inviting structural engineers.
