Principal’s Desk With the process of time the role of teachers

in society, in general, and the Principal/

Teacher-in-Charge, in particular, has changed

to a great extent. As this present society is an

organization and information society, the role

of the head of an institution/ organization has

metamorphosed into a co-ordinator, motivator

and leader who only co-ordinates, motivates

and leads from the front. Maintaining a

congenial academic atmosphere and building

up of an informal structure to support the

format structure is the main purpose so that

the active involvement of all students, teaching and non-teaching staff is ensured.

College. About 3000 Sq.ft. is the total carpet area of the central Library.

Library has a collection of more than 36,000 books on various subjects offered by the college

along with books on religion, biography, different types of dictionary, encyclopaedia etc. The

library subscribes a number of journals and daily newspapers such as: Economic and political

weekly, Journal of Indian Chemical Society, EkakMatra, Polyphony, Aajkal. The library is a

member of the Project entitled "National Library and Information Services Infrastructure for

Scholarly Content (N-LIST). Through the N-LIST website (http://nlist.inflibnet.ac.in) number

of e-books and peer reviewed journals can also be accessed on-line.

Research A major portion of faculty members of the college is actively engaged in research and lot of

research papers are published by them regularly in reputed journals. Collaborative research

work is ongoing with Chaos and Complex Systems Research Laboratory, Department of

Physics, The University of Burdwan.

The college has research collaboration with Indian Institute of Tropical Meteorology

(IITM), Pune and Kohima Science College, Kohima.

NSS

College has two NSS units actively engaged in various social works throughout the year.

Units organise special camps in the adopted villages/ area in which several cultural, social

events are organised to make the people aware of the threats in health, superstition etc.

Fresher’s welcome and annual function

Several cultural events are organised by the students as part of the co-curricular activities.

Observation of days of National and International Importance

The college observes several days of national/ international importance such as Netaji’s

birthday, Republic Day, International Mother Tongue Day, Independence Day etc.

Student Health Home

The college also has student health home which caters to the health needs of the students and

organises health related seminars.

Grid-connected rooftop Solar PV system

The college has taken initiative for using Green energy. A 20 KW Solar Photo-Voltaic

system has been installed on the rooftop of the main building of the college.

Anti-Ragging Cell

The anti-ragging cell has been constituted according to the regulation of UGC.

Vishakha Committee

The committee has been constituted to promote gender equality among the students and staff

members. Any complaint is amicably settled through this committee.

RTI

Application may be addressed to the Public Information Officer for any information falling in

the domain of the college under the RTI act. A Public Information Officer has been appointed

by the Governing Body to address the issues raised time to time.
