The Department of Electronics and Communication Engineering (ECE) is established in the year 2013 with a vision to develop competent professionals to meet the global challenges in modern engineering society and to educate the students to become enlightened engineers with latest know-how to take on the challenges concerned with the society. At present RIT offers a 4-year B.E. ECE programme with a sanctioned intake of 120 students. The Laboratories are equipped with latest technology in the fields of Electronic Devices and Circuits, Digital Electronics, Linear Integrated Circuits, Microprocessors & Microcontrol-lers, Very Large Scale Integration Circuits, Digital Signal Processing, Communi-cation System, Computer Networks, Optical & Microwave and Embedded Systems that offer opportunities on a wide range of hardware and advanced software packages. The Department encompasses professional associations such as Students Technical Association “Electronica”, IETE, ISTE chapters which pro-vide students the platform to learn professional and soft skills.

In the academic year 2016-2017, the Department had organized vari-ous Value Added Courses, Electronica-Association activities, Workshops, Conference, Guest lectures and Industrial Visits. The students had excelled in both co-curricular and extra curricular activities. The students had participated in various competitions and won prizes. The Department of ECE delights to release the News Letter “Electro Wits” for the academic year 2016-2017.

RIT-ELECTRONICA

The Department of Electronics and Communication Engineering has inaugu-rated the association “RIT-ELECTRONICA 2016” on 30.07.2016. The Chief guest, Mr.M.S.Damodara, Product Manager at Global IEEE, Bangalore delivered a guest lecture on “EDA Tools” for the II & III year ECE students. He shared his experience on EDA tools and insisted them to learn all subjects with interest.

RIT-ELECTRONICA Activities

Department of Electronics and Communication Engineering Association “RIT-ELECTRONICA” conducted various technical events such as Tech thought, Project Expo, Electropuzz, Pinocchio, Sapientia, Techwizard for ECE students during August 19-20, 2016. Second National Conference on

Innovation in Engineering, Science and

Technology - (NCIEST ’17) The RIT has organized the Second National Level Conference on 24th

& 25th March 2017 . The Primary purpose of this conference is to bring the budding Engineers, young researchers together to share the knowledge in various emerging fields of Engineering, Science and Technology. The conference was inaugurated on 24th March 2017 by Mr.D.Rajakumar, Vice President-operations, Tessolve semiconductors, Bangalore, delivered an Invited talks on ‘Technical requirements in Semiconductor Engineering Industry’, he spoke on the various features of Transistor scaling trends, VLSI design, Fabrication of IC’s, Testing process and the Industry expectations on fresh graduates.

The Two day National conference was chaired by two Expert members, one internal and one external faculty. Dr. P.Suveetha Dhanaselvam, Associate Professor, Velammal College of Engineering and Technology for Electronics and Communication Engineering who gave her views to improve the technical skills. The participants had presented 29 papers from the various areas in the discipline of Electronics and Communi-cation Engineering.

Guest Lecture on “Enjoyable coding” was delivered by Dr.JeyVeerasamy, Director, Center for Computer Science & Outreach University of Texas at Dallas, Texas, USA, for II & III year ECE students on 03.08.2016. He explained about the 3D Programming tool and highlight its features & show how it makes learning to program really exciting. It is a freely available teaching tool designed to be a stu-dent's first exposure to programming.

The resource person explained about the ap-plication of semiconductor devices in electronics and optoelectronics. Placement Activities

The Training and Placement Cell of this college provides guidance and all the assistance for the students in order to achieve their career goals. The unit takes right steps in identifying the demands of the current industry and prepares our students towards this need. Adequate emphasis is given for soft skill development complementing the regular academic programmes.

Aptitude Tests and Group Discussions are conducted at regular intervals to enable the students to improve their performance in interviews. Pre–placement training is given based on their core subject for three days before every interview schedule for them. Fur-ther, the Training and Placement Cell were conducted Soft skills and Aptitude Training Programmes by various reputed training organizations like FACE, SMART etc., to enrich their knowledge for successfully to achieve their placements.
