We design 10 milllion sqm

REVENUE BY COUNTRY

EVERY YEAR WE DESIGN ALL BUILDINGS NEEDEDFOR A CITY OF 100.000 PEOPLE

10 milllion sqmof buildings

… AND WE ALL KNOW THIS:

Buildings contribute to 40% of global GHG emissions

1/3 of all waste generated in Europe

derives from the building industry

We need to rethink how we design, build

and deliver buildings!

OUR NEW WAY IS … GREEN BIM

6

• GreenBIM is being developed by Ramboll to incorporate the sustainability dimension into classic Building Information Modelling (BIM).

• The new tool provides a structured methodology for evaluating sustainability criteria on a continuous basis throughout a project.

• It facilitates improved interdisciplinary collaboration and thereby ensures that solutions are fully optimised and clients’ sustainability ambitions are realised.

• In addition, Green BIM provides clients with a documented and certified level of sustainability whilst also helping to achieve cost savings.

WE ALREADY KEEP MOST INFORMATION IN OUR BIM MODELS

GENERAL SCOPE OF THE TOOL IS TO ACCOMMODATE ALL WORKFLOWS

IDENTIFICATION OF THE KEY FUNCTIONALITIES

The initial technical functionalities were chosen as they;- have important impact in the design process- can be quantified through simulation tools, databases and calculations:

CO2 emissions [kg CO2 eq.]

Energy [kwh/m2/year]

Daylight Factor [%]

Thermal Comfort [°C], [°F], [PMV] or [PPD]

Life Cycle Cost [Currency/m2]

- Possible to reduce the CO2 emissions related to the building- Awareness and promotion of more sustainable solutions

- Enhancement of transparency of product data- Analysis – Comparison of different solutions

- Keeping track of the cost of the building project concerning initial construction, operation and maintenance

- Keeping track of the energy consumption of the building- Promotion of renewable energy sources

- Analysis of the amount of daylight in the building- Promotion of healthy indoor environment

- Keeping track of the thermal comfort of the building- Securing the desired indoor climate and comfort for the users

Certified & EPD products [%]

SCOPE AND FUNCTIONALITIES OF THE TOOL IS ADJUSTED FOR EACH STAGE

COMPARISON OF THE KEY FUNCTIONALITIES & EUROPEAN LEVELS

European Levels is an attempt to create a common language in EU and a tool to assess and report sustainability performance in the building sector.

MACRO-OBJECTIVES

GREEN BIM WILL BE BASED ON INTEGRATION WITH EXISTING TOOLS

Integration and/or interaction with existing tools used in Ramboll

The function will allow a smooth interaction with existing tools used by discipline specialist throughout Ramboll and across nationalities.

- Daylight simulation tool - Energy calculation tool- Structural calculation tool- Etc.

DATA FROM THE BIM MODEL WILL INFORM SUSTAINABILITY CERTIFICATION SCHEMES

THE FUNCTIONALITY CHANGES WITH PROJECT STAGES AND ADAPTS TO THE ROLE OF THE USER

DALSTON LANE, LONDON

Saving 2,400 tonnes of carbon

Providing high quality, high density housing

World’s biggest CLT structure

OSLOSOLAR, OSLO

17

World’s largest energy positive building

Focus on ground level connectivity

BREEAM-NOR Outstanding building

NORDHAVNEN

40.000 inhabitants city district

“5 minute city” – promoting public transport

Vision for the district to be CO2 neutral
