Ramakrishna Mission Vidyalaya Coimbatore Alumni News Letter An Annual Publication of the All-Vidyalaya Alumni Association (AVAA) November 2002 Message from the President Dear Friends, Coming as it does after Deepawali, the festival of lights, this News Letter brings to you several developments in the Alumni Association. The most important one is the increase in the membership of the Alumni -- now it stands at 3137. The number of members on the Vidalaya Alumni Internet Address Registry (www.srkv.org) stands at nearly 300. We are glad that our former students remember their Alma Mater. The second important development is the enlargement of the Alumnis Executive Committee to include one young alumnus (teaching staff) from each of the institutions of the Vidyalaya. So now there are 18 Executive Committee Members. Their names are given inside. The summer camp for students, which was to be held in April or so this year but could not be held for various reasons, will in all probability be held in the summer of 2003. Further, a zonal alumni meet is to be held in Erode this year, inviting our former students from Gobichettipalayam, Kumarapalayam, Perundurai, Bhavani, Vijayamangalam, Pallipalayam and Kavundapadi. So, while the activities initiated already by the alumni in the past are going on fairly well, we are also trying hard to mobilize more members. Our hope is that this membership drive will finally fructify by way of the members themselves starting some service activity in their respective areas, according to their individual or group capacity. This year we shall be honouring 3 alumni, as mentioned inside. We request as many of you as possible to attend the function on 16.12.2002. Finally, we also invite you all to the Gurupuja on 5.1.2003. Yours affectionately Swami Atmaramananda President Issue No.6
