Project Implementing Organization „DISA‟

Development Initiative for Social Advancement (DISA) is a registered non Govt. organization

working on various development issues in Bangladesh since 1993. DISA‟s main working fields

are Microfinance, Technical Education, Child Education/Protection, Psychosocial & Counseling

Supports, Library & Information, Health Services, Agriculture, Fisheries & Livestock

Development, Adolescents Empowerment, Emergency Support Programs, Skill human resource

producing etc. DISA is working in partnership with National & International donor agencies,

Government‟s relevant departments, Public & Private Banks including financial institutions and

other development organizations.

Introduction of the Project

A project has been implemented in the name of “Ramadan Food Basket Distribution in

Bangladesh” under Emergency Support Program of DISA. The main Purpose of the project is to

Support Rohingya Refugees forcibly fled from Mayanmer to Bangladesh as well as to support

local Host Community people who are affected due to influx of huge number of Rohingyas.

LifeUSA full name “Life for Relief & Development” is a Charity Organization duly registered in

USA showed interest to work in partnership with DISA for the welfare of the Rohingya

Refugees and local Bangladeshi Community needy people. DISA was pleased to extend

cooperation with LifeUSA to work together in Bangladesh as an Implementing organization.

Accordingly an MOU with a service agreement has been signed by the authorities of both

parties/organizations primarily for one year. After signing agreement and MOU, LifeUSA

expressed interest to initiate functioning the partnership of both organizations immediately with

starting the project “Ramadan Food Basket Distribution in Bangladesh” to be implemented

by DISA within the Ramadan Month i.e. by 3rd

June 2019. Accordingly LifeUSA sent a Letter of

Intent to DISA for running the project for Rohingya Community & local host community people.

Project Funding Organization

DISA Management has managed funds from USA based organization “Life for Relief &

Development (LifeUSA) to run the project “Ramadan Food Basket Distribution in

Bangladesh” to support Rohingya Community & local host community needy people.

Project Duration

Project duration was 14 Days from 21st May 2019 to 3

rd June 2019. Accordingly FD-7 has been

approved and DISA has got the approval from the NGO Affair‟s Bureau on 27th

May 2019.

Fund Clearance from NGO Affair‟s Bureau

FD-7 Approval: Project FD-7 was approved by the NGO Affair‟s Bureau with funding Tk. 16,80,000/-

and project duration was 14 days from 21 May to 3rd

June 2019. Fund Clearance letter was issued on the

27-05-2019.

Submission of Approved FD-7 copy Local Authority: Approved FD-7 with clearance letter has been

submitted to the DC office & RRRC Office in Cox‟s Bazar for necessary information within the time

frame accordingly. Also Received copy of DC office & RRRC Office has been submitted to the office of

NGO Affair‟s Bureau.

Project Implementation

Food Baskets: 850 Food Baskets (Bag) distributed to equal number of Families with the

permission and instructions of DC Office & DRRO office in Cox‟s Bazar. Following food Items

was in each Food Basket.

Distribution Permission by the concern Authority: Before giving permission for distribution

of Food Baskets, the authority of DC Office in cooperation with DRRO given the responsibility

to DGFI, SB, NSI and the concern magistrate for inspection of Goods taken by the Two Trucks

to make sure Food Baskets are fine in terms of pricing, FD-7, Quality, Quantity etc. Having all

these reports positive from the concern officers, the DC office authority has given permission to

Distribute Food Baskets 50% to the Rohingya Community through the Army Managed Control

Room and rest 50% to e distributed through the UNO of Teknaf Upazilla to the local Host

Community needy people.

for taking permission to Distribute at the Rohingya & Host Community.

425 Food Baskets distributed to equal number of Families on 29th

May 2019 to the Rohingya

community through the Army Control Office and their supervision and management. Food

Baskets distributed at DP Zone-5 under Kutupalong Capm in Ukhia Upazilla.

Food Basket Distribution at Local Host Community in Teknaf:

425 Food Baskets distributed to equal number of Families on the 30 May 2019 to the local Host

Community needy people of Teknaf Upazilla. Food Baskets distributed at Upzilla Office Based

where the UNO, AC Land, Social Services Officer of Teknaf Upazilla were present in the

Distribution ceremony while DISA‟s Sr. Officers also were present in the occasion.

Upazilla Executive Officer (UNO) in presence of AC Land

Officer, Social Services Officer and Sr. Officers of DISA.

Also some of the Food Baskets distributed for Host Community needy people through City

AC Land Officer of Teknaf Upazilla and a Sr. Officer of Implementing Organization „DISA‟.

Project Implementation Committee (PIC):

A 3 members PIC has been formed by the authority of the organization for implanting the project

activities in Cox‟s Bazar by 31st May 2019. PIC members include 2 Sr. Management staff and one mid

level staff of the organization.

Way Forward

DISA has long plan to work with & for Host Community & Rohingya Community focusing Livelihood,

Child Protection & other needed areas based on available funds from funding agencies or from own

sources.

After Receiving Food Basket, Getting ready Host Community Needy people to go home from

the Office of the Mayor in Teknaf City Corporation.
