• Dec 2005: signature agreement for project by EWS-WWF & Fujairah Municipality for establishment of a Protected Area sponsored by HSBC bank middle east (3 years)
• 2006-2008: Mainly field work and public awareness activities to asses the feasibility of creating a protected area in Wadi Wurayah.
•2009 the area was declared officially as the first mountain protected area “law No.2-2009”
•2010 Wadi Wurayah National Park became the second Ramsar site for UAE

300 species of plants (orchid)
20 species of mammals ( The last placein UAE with Jebel Hafeet where the Arabian Tahr thrive )
75 species of birds
16 species of reptiles and amphibians(5 endemics)
1 species of fish (threatened): Garrabarreimiae
74 invertebrate families (55new species) 25 of them were described for the first time

Fund Raising – Successful Partnership
Local Corporate Fujairah Emirate is famous with its crushers. 70% of Fujairah area is covered with mountains and more than 50 crusher and other related industries are based in Fujairah, which contributed to the conservation efforts in Wadi Wurayah Mountain protected area like Fujairah Workshop which was sponsored by the local government, private sector and Ramsar Regional center.
Social Responsibility International or Multinational CompaniesThe high economical profile of the United Arab Emirates was the main attraction for the well established and international corporate to settle down and contribute to the social development and nature conservation in the country.
