preservation• Technical reporting• Technical writing: aim, purpose and style, introduction

and structure, figures, graphs and tables, good technical writing

Learning outcomes

After successfully completing this course, delegates will:• understand what a Safety Management System (SMS) is• know the purpose and elements of an SMS• know how to conduct an SMS audit• have a basic and more advanced understanding of

incident Investigation procedures, data collection, evidence reconstruction and preservation, and

• have skills in technical writing.

Who should enrol?

Engineering practitioners, railway safety inspectors and auditors and all staff employed by the Railway Safety Regulator (RSR) and railway operators (i.e. Transnet Freight Rail, Prasa, Gautrain). Consultants, contractors and other people working in the railway industry and interested in railway safety, audits, investigations and reporting are welcome to attend.

Course fees

R4 242.00 per Transnet delegate and Railway Safety Regulator delegate (VAT incl.)R4 439.00 per Non Transnet/Railway Safety Regulator delegate (VAT incl.)

Course fees include all course material, lunch and refreshments during the contact days.

Course fees must be paid in full 14 days prior to course start dates. Proof of payment can be submitted to [email protected].

Admission requirements

Prospective delegates should at least have a Degree, Diploma and/or National Senior Certificate/Matric.

It is recommended that attendees should have attended the Introduction to Multi-Disciplinary Concepts in Railway Engineering (IMDCRE) short course before attending this course.
