Terms & ConditionsREGARDING OUR BROCHURES:

Please read these terms and conditions carefully as they incorporate the basis upon which bookings are accepted by Flight Centre Limited (ABN 25 003 377 188) trading as Infinity Holidays (‘Infinity Holidays’, ‘we’ or ‘us’).

EURAIl PASS, EURAIl SElECt PASS, All OtHER EUROPEAN RAIl PASSES & BRItRAIl PASS:

Passes cannot be issued, purchased or used by residents of Europe, the United Kingdom, the Russian Federation, Turkey, Morocco, Algeria or Tunisia.

HOw tO vAlIDAtE & USE yOUR PASS:

(i) Passes are to be validated within six months from the date of issue and prior to the first day of use. To validate your pass, present your passport and your pass to a railway official in a railway ticket office (not the conductor) in the country in which it is valid. The railway official will enter the first and last date of validity on the pass. This must be done before boarding a train, bus or boat or when renting a car for the first time. In most cases validity runs from midnight to midnight for the period shown on the pass but check individual passes/countries for variations. All services, rail, rental car, air travel and travel bonuses must be used within the validity of the accompanying rail pass.

(ii) All persons listed on control vouchers/passes must be present when validating a Saverpass, Twin pass or BritRail Party Pass.

(iii) Under no circumstances is the holder allowed to validate his or her own pass, nor should pass holders enter their own passport number. Tampering with or altering a pass renders the pass void and authorises train staff to confiscate the pass and subjects passenger to a fine payable in local currency.

(iv) Passes are strictly non-transferable and are only valid for those whose name appears on the pass. Use by anyone other than those named will invalidate the pass and will result in a heavy fine in local currency and confiscation of the pass. It is compulsory to present passports to railway officials on request.

(v) Passes are not valid on hotel trains, private or specialty trains unless otherwise stated.

(vi) On Flexi passes, before boarding the first train or ship of the day, you must enter the date in ink, in the appropriate calendar box on your pass. Failure to comply with validation and date of use regulations is considered travelling without a ticket and will result in a fine collected on board the train. Train personnel are authorised to confiscate the pass in addition to levying the fine.

(vii) Passes are available in first and second class unless stated otherwise. Passengers holding first class passes are also permitted to travel in standard/second class. Passengers holding standard/second class passes are permitted to travel in first class only if they pay the difference between the two fares as applicable locally.

(viii) Travellers are responsible for ensuring that they have all necessary visas and appropriate travel documents prior to their departure from Australia.

(ix) Travel documents must remain in their official ticket cover to be eligible for travel.

(x) Refunds – Lost or stolen passes and tickets are neither refundable nor replaceable. Passes may only be refunded if none of the components of the pass or package have been used and the pass or the package is not validated. Refunds when applicable, will only be paid if a pass or ticket is returned to the issuing office, totally unused, prior to validation and in its original jacket. All Eurail, Eurail Selectpass and National European passes* may be presented for application for a refund up to one year from

the date of issuance. (*Some regional passes can only be refunded up to six months from the date of issuance – refer to ticket cover at time of issue). Refunds for unused Eurail and BritRail sector tickets or sleeper reservations may only be considered if the ticket is returned prior to the commencement validity date on the tickets or otherwise endorsed by a European or British railway office as ‘unused’, prior to last day of ticket validity. This may be arranged at any respective European or UK railway station. Tickets not so endorsed cannot be refunded after the validity commencement date. Refunds for BritRail passes will be granted if an unvalidated pass is returned to the office from which it was purchased within six months from the date of issue and bears no evidence of having been tampered with. No refund can be made in Britain or if the pass cannot be produced or if lost or stolen. No refund will be made on a validated unused pass. A 100% cancellation fee will be applied for couchettes and sleepers if space is not cancelled and the vouchers were not endorsed with a railway official stamp. Handling fees and seat reservations are non-refundable.

RESERvAtIONS FOR SEAtS, SlEEPERS AND COUCHEttES:

A pass does not guarantee a seat on a train, bus, plane or boat. Seat reservations should be made in advance and are compulsory on Premier trains, some buses and boats. Reservations are also compulsory for all sleepers and couchettes and should be made in advance.

ADDItIONAl CHARGES:

(i) All rail passes are issued as open dated. A Pass Issuance Fee will apply.

(ii) Seat reservations, sleepers and couchettes, travel on Premier trains, luggage checking and port taxes, are all subject to additional charges that are not covered by the passes. These, including meals and refreshments, are all to be paid separately.

Luggage checking, port taxes, meals and refreshments as well as seat reservations, sleepers and couchettes reserved locally must be paid abroad in local currency.

(iii) Rail passes do not include the cost of admission fees to sightseeing venues/tourist attractions unless they are listed as a Bonus Travel Offer included with the pass.

GOvERNING RUlES:

All transportation covered by those passes where use is intended for more than one country is subject to the Uniform Rules concerning the Contract for International Carriage of Passengers and Luggage by Rail (CIV). National and/or single-country passes are subject to rules and regulations of their specific countries. Neither the British or European railroads nor Infinity Rail assume any responsibility for damages resulting from a strike.

JAPAN RAIl PASS & AmtRAk USA PASS PRODUCtS:

(i) For Japan and USA rail tickets, the passenger name on the ticket must correspond directly with the name in the passenger’s passport.

(ii) Detailed conditions for each specific product offered by Infinity Rail are detailed in the accompanying transportation company documentation at time of ticket issue. Copy of such conditions may be requested prior to purchase. It is the responsibility of the customer to read all documentation prior to commencement of travel.

(iii) Payments must be made strictly in accordance with the requirements stipulated for each product at the time of booking.

(iv) Refund applications must be submitted to the office where the pass or ticket was purchased, with appropriate, original documentation, such as all components of the

original pass. Any refundable amount is subject to a minimum 15% cancellation charge.

(v) There is no refund on lost, stolen or partially used passes. No refund is available on a Japan Rail Pass once the Exchange Order has been presented for the official travel pass to be issued.

A 100% cancellation fee will be applied for couchettes and sleepers if space is not cancelled and the vouchers were not endorsed with a railway official stamp.

(vi) Fares quoted in AUD or foreign currencies are subject to change without prior notice. Additional local processing and amendment fees may apply to any change, cancellation or refund. Cancellation fees in Australia are subject to 10% GST.

(vii) Travellers are responsible for ensuring they have all necessary visas and appropriate travel documents prior to their departure from Australia.

Sub heading hereWith the ultimate in comfort, safety and convenience, train travel is now experiencing a strong resurgence in popularity. And there are some very good reasons why.

Firstly, trains allow you to travel in safety and comfort. Restaurant and bar cars on day trains, and sleeping accommodation on night trains mean that no matter how long or short your trip, you will travel in comfort and convenience from city centre to city centre, without traffic hassles or airport delays. As an extra bonus, old-worldly charm sets train travel apart from more mundane forms of transport.

Scenic and luxury trains offer full service and catering, and the likes of the Rocky Mountaineer, the legendary Orient-Express, The Ghan, the Indian Pacific and many Swiss scenic trains will take you on memorable journeys through some of the world’s most spectacular landscapes in unparalleled luxury.

Enjoy the freedom of train travel: chat with your travel companions, meet new people, read a book or just sit back and take in the incredible scenery rolling past. Train travel can be an excellent choice for families: children are generally fascinated by trains, and you’ll enjoy the additional space train travel can provide. Very importantly, train travel is recognised as an environmentally friendly travel option.

When purchasing tickets, many countries, such as Europe, Japan, Canada and the USA, offer a great range of rail passes for travellers who need flexible travel options, whether for business or pleasure. The other option is a point-to-point ticket – generally more suitable for shorter trips and often representing excellent value for money.

Many rail tickets and passes offer significant discounts for seniors and students or persons under 26 years, making your dollar go even further.

Europe & BritainTake the Eurostar from London and you can be in another country in less than two hours! Or enjoy the freedom, flexibility and great value of the large selection of BritRail and Eurail passes: select your pass based on the huge network of train systems available throughout Western and Eastern Europe. At Infinity Rail, we can also help you book separate European rail sectors, so you can leave home knowing for certain that you’ve got a seat on the train you want!

USA & CanadaTake advantage of a great number of passes or point-to-point tickets in both the USA and Canada and explore these vast and exciting countries in reliable comfort. If you’re visiting Canada, a trip on the Rocky Mountaineer through the Rockies is not to be missed.

Australia & New ZealandCloser to home, you can experience rail journeys of complete contrast. Take in the vast space of the Australian outback on the luxury of The Ghan or the Indian Pacific. Explore the tropical Queensland coast from Brisbane to Cairns on The Sunlander. Or marvel at the Southern Alps’ soaring peaks on the TranzAlpine.

AsiaTrain travel through Asia provides the opportunity to gain a unique insight into countries that may otherwise be relatively inaccessible. Meet the locals, experience ancient cultures and get off the beaten track on the railways of China, Tibet, Vietnam, Laos and Japan.

Enjoy the freedom of rail travel Top 5 rail journeysAbitibi, VIA Rail Canada

EurailTravelling by train is one of the most romantic and relaxing ways to explore Europe.Rail travel allows the traveller to experience the contrasting landscapes and the beauty of different regions and countries in Europe. Passengers can relax and enjoy the services on board the train, while avoiding the hassle and costs associated with air or road transportation.

Eurail passes are designed to offer maximum flexibility across this historic continent. No matter what your age, the Eurail is a travelling adventure you don’t want to miss! Choose between the Global, Flexi or Select passes in either first or second class carriages.

Each Eurail pass offers three rate structures: First class (adult), Saver (two or more adults travelling together) or Youth discount (under 26 years).

These passes are exclusively for passengers who reside outside Europe.

Eurail European passesEurail Global Pass offers the most extensive travel possibilities, with practically unlimited travel across 21 countries. With a Eurail Global Pass, you can enjoy unlimited travel within the validity period of the pass. It is available for 15 days, 21 days, one month, two months or three months and is perfect for travel within a set itinerary. The 21 countries are: Austria (including Liechtenstein), Belgium, Croatia, Czech Republic, Denmark, Finland, France (including Monaco), Germany, Greece, Hungary, Ireland, Italy, Luxembourg, the Netherlands, Norway, Portugal, Romania, Slovenia, Spain, Sweden and Switzerland.

Eurail Global Pass Flexi offers all the benefits of unlimited travel within 20 countries with a choice of 10 or 15 days travel within two months – the perfect option for those wanting to stay longer in each destination. The Eurail Global passes also entitle passengers to benefit from bonus discounts, such as reductions on the fares of some hotels, buses and shipping lines.

Eurail Select Pass lets you choose any three, four or five Eurail countries that are directly connected by rail. This allows you to save money and only pay for the countries you need. Adjoining countries are defined as being connected by either rail or ship. For example, France, Switzerland and Germany would be a possible three-country combination, as would Greece, Italy and Austria. The Netherlands, Belgium and Luxembourg are considered one country called Benelux; Slovenia and Croatia are also considered one country, as are Bulgaria, Serbia and Montenegro. Options include five, six, eight or 10 days of unlimited travel within a two-month period, from the first time you use your pass. If you choose five countries, there is an extra option of 15 days of travel.

Eurail National & Regional PassesBergen, norway

Eurail national passesEurail national passes allow unlimited train travel in one European country, allowing flexible exploration. There is currently a wide selection of Eurail national passes. See the list of pass options and pricing, which you will find on page 10. These passes also entitle you to numerous bonuses, varying from free or discounted transportation on the tracks of private railroad companies, national ferry crossings and buses, as well as reductions on car rental, hotels, museums and bicycle rental. Each country has its specific bonuses, all offering great value to the international traveller.

For travel through Switzerland, there are several different pass options available:

Swiss transfer ticket For a quick visit to Switzerland, this pass includes one inbound and one outbound rail journey from any Swiss airport or border to a single destination.

Swiss Card Same inclusions as the Swiss Transfer Ticket, but also includes a 50% discount on additional trains, bus and boat travel.

Swiss Consecutive Pass is valid for specific periods, from four days to one month, and unlimited travel is permitted over the duration of your pass. Perfect for a short stay where you want to see as much as possible.

Swiss Flexipass Valid for one month, this pass allows between three–six days travel within the month. This pass will suit the more relaxed traveller who wishes to take their time exploring.

Swiss Glacier Express Eurail Passholder Available only to those holding a valid Eurail pass that includes Switzerland, this is a discounted ticket that allows travel on the amazing Swiss Glacier Express – travelling through the ‘Grand Canyon of Switzerland’ and the heart of the Alps.

Eurail regional passes Regional passes allow you to travel within two countries. These passes are ideal for those who are on a short stay in Europe or who only want to visit a couple of countries. Options range from four to 10 days of unlimited travel within a two month period.

The regional pass is so simple and easy to use and there are so many possible combinations, you really can tailor-make to suit your own individual needs.

Two countries are combined as long as they share a border. There are some additional ‘rules’ when combining some counties which allow you to experience even more on your regional pass. They are:

The Netherlands, Belgium and Luxembourg are considered the same country and are referred •to as ‘Benelux’.

Croatia and Slovenia are also considered the same country.•

Denmark, Finland, Norway and Sweden can be combined into one Scandinavia Pass.•

Italy and Spain can be combined using a ferry service between the two countries.•

Greece and Italy can also be combined using a ferry service.•

European East – combines Austria, Czech Republic, Hungary, Poland and Slovakia.•

Balkan Flexipass – allows travel to Bulgaria, Greece, Macedonia, Serbia and Montenegro, •Romania and Turkey.

If you need more than two countries, simply use a Select Pass, as found on page eight.

Experience the excitement of New York City, the power of Niagara Falls or the New England charm of Boston.

Amtrak is the largest rail operator in the USA, providing intercity passengers with rail services to more than 500 destinations across 46 states on a 35,406 kilometres route system. You can take advantage of this huge network and travel on either a point-to-point ticket or a rail pass, offering you the flexibility to choose the cities you want to visit and explore at your own pace.

Amtrak USA Rail PassTravel the length and breadth of the USA on one of three pass options. Choose from eight segments in 15 days, 12 segments in 30 days and 18 segments in 45 days. Amtrak considers a segment to be any single journey. So as soon as you change trains, you start a new segment.

For example, if there’s no direct service between Washington DC and Kansas City, and you need to change trains in Chicago, you would be using two segments on the one way journey. There are some restrictions on which trains you can use, so check with your travel consultant.

Amtrak point-to-point faresRegional Tickets Perfect for those wanting to visit one or two cities. Choose between standard or business class seating and pre-book your seat before you leave to guarantee your place on the train and avoid disappointment.

Acela Express Tickets Enjoy superior comfort and service at speeds up to 240 kilometres per hour. The Acela Express services Boston to Washington DC, via New York City and Philadelphia with first and business class carriages. First Class service also includes a meal and beverage service, newspaper and lounge access.

Sleeper Tickets For longer journeys, arrive refreshed by booking yourself a sleeper. Both bedroom and roomette options include bedding for two passengers, the only difference being a bedroom has the added benefit of private ensuite facilities.

The Ghan & Indian PacificThe GhanExperience one of the most fascinating, great train journeys of the world. When The Ghan first departed Adelaide for Alice Springs, it was always intended that it would one day travel through to Darwin. More than 70 years on, in 2004, that dream became a reality, making it possible to enjoy two nights on board this great train in either direction. Marvel at the spectacular Australian landscapes, from fertile countryside surrounding Adelaide to the rusty hues of the Red Centre, onto the tropical splendour of the Top End. The Ghan is the ultimate journey through the heart of the continent.

Indian PacificCruise across the vast continent of Australia on one of the world’s longest and greatest train journeys, from the spectacular Blue Mountains to the treeless plains of The Nullarbor desert, where the train travels the world’s longest straight stretch of railway track, 478 kilometres. See the sights of some of Australia’s most famous outback towns on an optional off-train sightseeing tour offered during scheduled stops at Broken Hill, Adelaide and gold-rich Kalgoorlie. Cook, a remote outpost on the Nullarbor Plain, presents a further opportunity to stretch your legs.

All along the Indian Pacific route, keep an eye out for the magnificent Australian wedge-tailed eagle, the symbol of this great train. With a wingspan of up to two metres, it’s easy to spot in a clear desert sky.

Service features and inclusionsThe Ghan and the Indian Pacific have two levels of service, Red and Gold service. In September 2008, The Ghan introduced the new luxury Platinum service.

Red Service Daynighter Seat With a comfortable recliner lounge chair and generous leg room, the Red Service Daynighter Seat is perfect for a shorter journey or the budget-conscious traveller. Video entertainment and complimentary on-board magazines will help pass the time. Toilet and shower facilities are at the end of each carriage, and towels and soap are provided.

Red Service Sleeper Cabin During the day, the cabin consists of two lounge chairs facing each other, which convert to an upper and lower sleeping berth at night. The cabin also has private washing facilities, as well as a fold-away table, wardrobe, reading light and mirror. Please note: guests travelling alone may be required to share a sleeper cabin.

Gold Service Sleeper Cabin Choose from an elegant twin or single sleeper cabin. Twin cabins feature a three-seater lounge chair converting to a lower and upper sleeping berth and private ensuite. Single cabins feature a lounge chair converting to a single sleeping berth. Shower and toilet facilities are located at the end of each carriage. All Gold Service guests receive a complimentary toiletry bag, certificate of travel and a collector stick pin.

Platinum Service Sleeper Cabin – available on the Ghan only Platinum Service is a new luxury level of train travel, like no other Australian train accommodation. Platinum Cabins are approximately twice the size of our standard Gold Twin Cabins, with each room offering deluxe accommodation, including double beds, a spacious ensuite with full size shower and extended room service. They have all the modern comforts, in a classic style, with a distinctly Australian character. You will receive a welcome drink and appetiser on arrival in your cabin, complimentary nightcap and turndown service, freshly brewed tea and coffee delivered to your cabin each morning and for afternoon tea. China RailwaysCrossing China’s vast and ancient lands may seem a daunting task; however, it has never been easier. China Railways have links to all major cities, and provide a safe, comfortable and reliable way to travel.

With bustling cities, relics and temples, China is like no other place on earth – it isn’t just a different country, it’s a different world. Take the train to Beijing, the capital of China and one of the most historical and cultural cities in the world. From Beijing you can easily access incredible wonders, such as the Great Wall, the Forbidden City, Tiananmen Square, the Ming Tombs, the stunning Summer Palace and more. Or travel by rail to Shanghai: once called the ‘Paris of the Orient’, this riverside city boasts remnants of its decadent French colonial past, as well as temples, gardens and bazaars.

Venture outside China’s major cities into regional areas and discover another side to this fascinating country. Xi’an, the eternal city, offers you the Museum of Terracotta Warriors and Horses, lauded as ‘the eighth major miracle of the world’, along with the Mausoleum of Emperor Qin Shi Huang and the City Wall of the Ming Dynasty, the largest and most intact Ming Dynasty castle anywhere in the world. Southern China’s Guangzhou is one of the 24 cities that are the first to have been announced as famous cities of historic and cultural interest in China. Only 125 kilometres south-east of Guangzhou is Hong Kong, a city that takes you from east to west, past to present, city to nature.

Travel optionsThere are three options for seating on China Railway services: Seats are suitable for short rail journeys. Soft sleepers are comfortable four-berth compartments with full bedding provided. Deluxe sleepers are available on some major train routes and consist of a comfortable two-berth compartment with private ensuite.

Vietnam demands to be experienced, not just seen! This country offers the traveller a wonderful variety of natural beauty: from the charm of the Mekong Delta to its stunning central coastline, the soaring mountains of Sapa in the north, awe-inspiring Halong Bay, emerald-green rice paddies and traditional cuisine to tantalise the tastebuds.

Vietnamese trains are the ideal way for independent travellers see Vietnam at ground level. The trains are safe, comfortable and inexpensive. Your train journey will be an experience in itself and become an integral part of your visit to Vietnam.

Air-conditioned trains link Hanoi, Hue, Danang, Nha Trang and Saigon (Ho Chi Minh City). Hoi An has no station, but it’s just 30 kilometres by bus or taxi from Danang. There are also trains from Hanoi to Haiphong (for Halong Bay) and Hanoi to Lao Cai (for Sapa).

Reunification Express Trains between Hanoi and Saigon are sometimes referred to as the ‘Reunification Express’ by guide books or tourist agencies. However, there are now many trains on this route and no single train officially carries this name.

Travel optionsWhile there are no pass options available in Vietnam, there are a myriad of point-to-point fares to take you to almost any destination.

Soft-class sleepers are the recommended way to travel. The four-berth compartments with air-conditioning are perfect for any journey involving overnight travel. Soft-class sleepers have western-style toilets at the end of the corridor.

There is also the option of having a hard-sleeper or seat, which aren’t recommended for most western travellers or long journeys, but are available for the budget-conscious traveller.

With the first major civilisation flourishing on Indian soil almost five thousand years ago, it’s no wonder that India has the utmost respect for tradition, culture and ancient history.

Even the mere mention of the word India provokes thoughts of spice-scented air, colourful festivals, deeply mystical and spiritual people, ornate temples and grand palaces.

Modern-day India is a land of contrasts, from bustling cities, housing millions of people, to sleepy beachside resorts. In 2010, Delhi will host the Commonwealth Games and the world’s attention will be well and truly focused on this amazing country. India is a modern culture that manages to maintain the ethereal quality of its past.

There is no better way to travel this vast and contrasting land than by train. Relax in the cool comfort of your luxury coach while the exotic scenes slide by your window, from the aridity and striking beauty of the desert state of Rajasthan, to the long stretches of beautiful beaches lining the west coast.

You may feel humbled as you step into the shadows of some of India’s most famous sights, such as the Taj Mahal and Pink City of Jaipur, or amazed as you stumble across new and exciting discoveries, but one thing is for sure; India will stamp its passion, vibrancy and energy in your memory for a long time after you’ve left. This is one destination that will reward you for your sense of adventure and will have you coming back for more.

The Royal Palace on WheelsThe Palace on Wheels has been rated as one of the ten most luxurious train journeys in the world. Once on board you will feel like royalty, as your personal attendant, or Khidmatgar will be on hand to take care of all your travel needs. Relax in the lounge and take in a game of chess or bridge. Enjoy a refreshing aperitif in the well-stocked bar and dine at one of two lavish restaurants, ‘The Maharaja’ and ‘The Maharani’ with a Rajasthani ambience serving mouth-watering Continental, Chinese, Indian and Rajasthani cuisines.

There are 14 coaches in the train, each coach is provided with four bedded chambers with plush Rajasthani interiors. The coaches provide facilities to make your voyage comfortable, including channel music, intercom, ensuites with shower and running hot and cold water.

Palace on Wheels takes you on an amazing eight-day journey, starting in Delhi and taking you to the majestic state of Rajasthan. The route continues to the ‘Pink City’ of Jaipur; Jaisalmer; ‘Sun City’ of Jodhpur, Sawai Madhopur; Chittaurgarh and Udaipur or ‘Venice of the East’, then finally to Bharatpur and Agra, ‘City of the Taj’.

The railway official will enter the first and last date of validity on the pass. This must be done before boarding a train, bus or boat or when renting a car for the first time. In most cases validity runs from midnight to midnight for the period shown on the pass but check individual passes/countries for variations.

This may be arranged at any respective European or UK railway station. Tickets not so endorsed cannot be refunded after the validity commencement date.
