RADAC® - Lead Intensifying Screens Product Features
✓ Quality Assured – rigorous quality control throughout the production process ensures that RADAC
screens are free from defects that could interfere with the interpretation of the film.
✓ Flexible and durable – the high quality backing used in the production of RADAC screens means that
they can be bent over and over again to a small radius without cracking resulting in a lower whole life
cost. The high flexibility of RADAC screens ensures that optimal film-to-screen contact can be achieved.
✓ High Intensification – A peel-off plastic film cover protects the surface of the RADAC lead screen
ensuring they are received in perfect condition. The high quality un-coated lead used in RADAC screens
results in higher intensification and an absence of problems associated with lacquer coatings.
✓ Full range of cut sizes – RADAC screens are available in all standard metric and imperial sizes and are
cut according to BS3490:1985 and ISO 5655-2000. Bespoke non–standard size screens can be
manufactured to order. RADAC screens feature rounded corners to prevent damage to both films and
cassettes.
✓ Full range of thicknesses – RADAC screens are available in thicknesses from 0.05mm to 3.0mm Pairs of
any thickness combination can be supplied. Intermediate (centre) screens are also available with any
lead thickness.

RADAC® Lead Intensifying Screen Rolls
RADAC Lead Intensifying Screen rolls are available in rolls of 30-meter length, produced in two widths 70mm and 100m widths and two thicknesses 0.125mm and 0.10mm. To reduce the likely hood of kinking the screen particularly when loading long lengths, the non-lacquered lead foil is laminated to a flexible backing material of 0.25mm thickness. RADAC Lead Intensifying Screen rolls are ideally suited to pipeline radiography particularly when used in conjunction with RADAC Custom Flexible Cassettes which can be produced to order in any length or size that may be required.
✓ Savings can be achieved by purchasing RADAC® Screen Roll in packs of 10 or 25 as the higher pack sizes result in
a lower unit cost.

Super Flat Single Envelope
The main advantage of RADAC double – envelope cassettes is that they lie perfectly flat, having no
fold over ends or VELCRO® Brand fastening. RADAC Double Envelope Cassettes consist of two
envelopes an inner and outer. Film and screens are loaded into the inner envelope (the smaller of
the two). The inner envelope is then inserted, open end first into the larger outer envelope. Light
tightness is assured because the open end of the inner envelope is up against the closed end of the
outer envelope. RADAC Double Envelope cassettes are manufactured from RADAC's flexible black
400-micron PVC material and are clearly marked “RADAC BACK” on both the inner and outer for
easy identification in both the darkroom and on site.

RADAC® Image quality Indicators (IQI’s)
✓ Quality Assured – RADAC use of the best materials and manufacturing techniques combined with rigorous quality control throughout the production process ensures that RADAC IQI’s are free from defects.
✓ Manufactured to exacting standards – RADAC manufacture European Standard s, DIN 54 (Wire type)
Image Quality Indicators and ASTM E747-84a/ ASME SE747-97a (Wire Type) Penetrameters.
✓ Full range of materials – RADAC indicators are available in Steel (FE), Aluminium (AL), Copper (CU),
Titanium (TI) and Inconel alloy (IN). The steel indicators are for use on most forms of steel and iron: the
aluminium indicators are for use on aluminium and its alloys: the copper indicators are use on copper
and its alloys and the titanium indicators for use on titanium and its alloys.
✓ Full audit traceability - All RADAC Image Quality Indicators have a unique serial number for Quality
Assurance purposes. From this number we hold records for the wire type, batch, actual measured
diameters and date of manufacture. All RADAC Image Quality Indicators are supplied with Certificates of
Conformity.
RADAC® Image Quality Indicators
EN 462-1: 1994 / ISO 19223-1-2013 Wire Type Image Quality Indicator are also
available in a presentation wallet with the unique individual conformity certificate for
the corresponding IQI.

European Standard EN 462-1: 1994 and ISO 19232-1-2013 Wire TYPE Image Quality Indicators.
Construction
Each RADAC EN type indicator consists of a series of seven parallel wires of different thicknesses, RADAC EN
type indicators are available in both 5mm and 2.5mm wire spacing and in full range of wire lengths from
10mm to 100mm long. The wires are mounted between two thin sheets of transparent, flexible PVC. A lead
monogram indicates the number of the thinnest and the thickest wires, the material and includes the EN
symbol.

and iron: the aluminium indicators are for use on aluminium and its alloys: the copper indicators are use on
copper and its alloys : the Inconel indicators are for use on Inconel Nickel Chromium alloys and the titanium
indicators for use on titanium and its alloys.
These are four sizes: 1 MM EN, containing wires 1 – 7: 6 MM EN with wires 6 to 12: 10 MM EN with wires 10
– 16 and 13 MM EN with wires 13 to 19 (where MM is the metal – FE, AL, CU and TI)
EN indicators can be supplied in wallets, with individual Certificates of Conformity or without wallets and
a single Certificate of Conformity detailing the individual serial numbers and IQI types.

Lead Identification Markers RADAC lead markers are available in two styles. Sharp faced markers are generally used for x-radiography and produce a well-defined, clean image on the film. The flat face style has greater bulk for use with the more penetrating gamma radiations. Mounted markers are fixed to 0.25mm thick rigid white PVC for easy handing. The characters available are arrows, (sharp faced only), capital letters and numerals. Sharp-faced markers are measured with reference to the front, sharp face of the character. Flat-faced markers are measured on the back of the character. Sharp-faced markers are, therefore always larger than flat-faced characters of the same nominal size.

RADAC® Magnetic Marker Tapes RADAC Magnetic Marker Tapes represent a significant advance in marker tape design. They are easier to work with and considerably longer-lasting than the conventional fabric type. RADAC Magnetic Marker Tapes are made to last, manufactured from durable and flexible magnetic rubber, faced with white PVC, the divisions are printed in premium weather proof EN71 ink. The embossed lead identification markers are placed either at 5 or 10cm intervals, the lead markers are securely welded to the tape and protected by clear 400 micron PVC . The lead identification markers are thick enough to ensure visibility on the radiograph without causing glare. RADAC Magnetic Marker tapes adhere firmly to all ferrous surfaces, even when painted or wet, yet are easily re-position able and do not need two-man operation. Tests show that the tapes stretch by less than 5mm over a 10m length after having being in full-time service for several months.

RADAC® Referenced Radiographs
RADAC Referenced Radiographs are specifically designed for training, learning and development. The referenced radiographs display real examples of welding defects, mechanical defects and processing marks. The defects have been intentionally produced to make it easier to learn and interpret the different defect types. When the referenced radiographs are placed on a film viewer for inspection areas of the object where the thickness has been changed by discontinuities, such as porosity or cracks, will appear as dark outlines on the film. Inclusions of low density, such as slag, will appear as dark areas on the film while inclusions of high density, such as tungsten, will appear as light areas. Each radiograph is supplied with a corresponding master report detailing the defect type, defect size, location and inclusion of any artefacts to assist the student’s ability to correctly interpret the radiograph and defect characterisation.
All samples used to produce the standard set of RADAC referenced radiographs are in carbon steel pipe and plate. Each set contains 20 films, showing a minimum of 20 defects and a minimum of 6 processing defects along with corresponding master reports, 10 copies of an example student report template and a defect reference grid showing clear examples of what each detect would look like within a radiograph. RADAC referenced radiographs are also available in bespoke sets for example pipe only, plate only, and different density material to meet individual customer requirements.
