Notes on the power supply lead (yellow)When connecting this unit in combination with

other stereo components, the connected carcircuits rating must be higher than the su m ofeach components fuse.

When no car circuits are rated high enough,connect the unit directly to the battery.

Parts Iist (1)The numbers in the list are keyed to those in the

instructions.The bracket 1 and the protection collar 5 are

attached to the unit before shipping. Beforemounting the unit, use the release keys 6 toremove the bracket 1 and the protection collar 5from the unit. For details, see Removing theprotection collar and the bracket (4) on thereverse side of the sheet.

Keep the release keys6for future use as theyare also necessary if you remove the unit fromyour car.

CautionHandle the bracket 1 carefully to avoid injuringyour fingers.

NoteBefore installing, make sure that the catches on both

sides of the bracket1 are bent inwards 2 mm. If thecatches are straight or bent outwards, the unitwill not be installed securely and may spring out.

Connection example (2)Notes (2-B) Be sure to connect the earth lead before connecting

the amplifier. If you connect an optional power amplifier and do not

use the built-in amplifier, the beep sound will bedeactivated.

First connect the black earth lead, then connect theyellow and red power input leads.

Notes It is not necessary to connect this lead if there is no

power aerial or aerial booster, or with a manually-operated telescopic aerial.

When your car has a built-in FM/AM aerial in therear/side glass, see Notes on the control and

3 To AMP REMOTE IN of an optional poweramplifierThis connection is only for amplifiers. Connectingany other system may damage the unit.

4 To the +12 V power terminal which is energizedin the accessory position of the ignition keyswitch

Notes If there is no accessory position, connect to the +12

V power (battery) terminal which is energized atall times.Be sure to connect the black earth lead to a metal

surface of the car first. When your car has a built-in FM/AM aerial in the

rear/side glass, see Notes on the control and

Notes on the control and power supply leads The power aerial control lead (blue) supplies +12 V DC

when you turn on the tuner. When your car has built-in FM/AM aerial in the rear/

side glass, connect the power aerial control lead (blue)or the accessory power input lead (red) to the powerterminal of the existing aerial booster. For details,consult your dealer.

A power aerial without relay box cannot be used withthis unit.

Memory hold connectionWhen the yellow power input lead is connected, powerwill always be supplied to the memory circuit even whenthe ignition key is turned off.

Notes on speaker connection Before connecting the speakers, turn the unit off. Use speakers with an impedance of 4 to 8 ohms, and

with adequate power handling capacities to avoid itsdamage.

Do not connect the speaker terminals to the carchassis, or connect the terminals of the right speakers

with those of the left speaker. Do not connect the earth lead of this unit to thenegative () terminal of the speaker.

Do not attempt to connect the speakers in parallel. Connect only passive speakers. Connecting active

speakers (with built-in amplifiers) to the speakerterminals may damage the unit.

To avoid a malfunction, do not use the built-in speakerleads installed in your car if the unit shares a commonnegative () lead for the right and left speakers.

Do not connect the units speaker leads to each other.

Note on connectionIf speaker and amplifier are not connected correctly,FAILURE appears in the display. In this case, make surethe speaker and amplifier are connected correctly.

Precauciones Esta unidad ha sido diseada para alimentarse slo

con cc de 12 V de masa negativa. No coloque los cables debajo de ningn tornillo, ni

los aprisione con partes mviles (p.ej. los rales delasiento).

Antes de realizar las conexiones, desactive elencendido del automvil para evitar cortocircuitos.

Conecte los cables de entrada de alimentacinamarillo y rojo solamente despus de haberconectado los dems.

Conecte todos los conductores de puesta amasa a un punto comn.

Conserve las llaves de liberacin6 parautilizarlas en el futuro, ya que tambin lasnecesitar si retira la unidad del automvil.

PrecaucinTenga mucho cuidado al manipular el soporte1para evitar posibles lesiones en los dedos.

NotaAntes de instalar la unidad, compruebe que losenganches de ambos lados del soporte1 estn dobladoshacia adentro 2 mm. Si no lo estn o estn doblados haciaafuera, la unidad no se instalar correctamente y puede

saltar.

Ejemplo de conexiones (2)Notas (2-B) Asegrese de conectar primero el cable de toma a tierra

antes de realizar la conexin al amplificador. Si conecta un amplificador de potencia opcional y no

utiliza el incorporado, los pitidos se desactivarn.

Notas sobre los cables de control y de fuente dealimentacin El cable de control de la antena motorizada (azul)

suministrar cc de + 12 V cuando conecte la alimentacin delsintonizador.

Si el automvil dispone de una antena de FM/AMincorporada en el cristal trasero o lateral, conecte el cable decontrol de antena motorizada (azul) o el cable de entrada dealimentacin auxiliar (rojo) al terminal de alimentacin delamplificador de antena existente. Para obtener msinformacin, consulte a su proveedor.

Con esta unidad no es posible utilizar una antena motorizadasin caja de rel.

Conexin para proteccin de la memoriaSi conecta el conductor de entrada amarillo, el circuito de lamemoria recibir siempre alimentacin, aunque ponga la llavede encendido en la posicin OFF.

Notas sobre la conexin de los altavoces Antes de conectar los altavoces, desconecte la alimentacin

de la unidad. Utilice altavoces con una impedancia de 4 a 8 con la

capacidad de potencia adecuada para evitar que se daen. No conecte los terminales de altavoz al chasis del automvil,

ni conecte los terminales del altavoz derecho con los delizquierdo.

No conecte el cable de toma a tierra de esta unidad alterminal negativo () del altavoz.

No intente conectar los altavoces en paralelo. Conecte solamente altavoces pasivos. Si conecta altavoces

activos (con amplificadores incorporados) a los terminales dealtavoz, puede daar la unidad.

Para evitar fallos de funcionamiento, no utilice los cables dealtavoz incorporados instalados en el automvil si su unidadcomparte un cable negativo comn () para los altavocesderecho e izquierdo.

No conecte los cables de altavoz de la unidad entre s.

Nota sobre la conexinSi el altavoz y el amplificador no estn conectadoscorrectamente, aparecer FAILURE en la pantalla. Si es as,compruebe la conexin de ambos dispositivos.

Precautions

Choose the installation location carefully sothat the unit will not interfere with normaldriving operations.

Avoid installing the unit in areas subject todust, dirt, excessive vibration, or hightemperatures, such as in direct sunlight ornear heater ducts.

Use only the supplied mounting hardware fora safe and secure installation.

Mounting angle adjustment

Adjust the mounting angle to less than 45.

Removing the protection collarand the bracket (4)Before installing the unit, remove theprotection collar 5 and the bracket 1 fromthe unit.

1 Remove the protection collar 5.1Engage the release keys 6 together with

the protection collar 5.2Pull out the release keys 6 to remove the

protection collar 5.

2 Remove the bracket 1.1 Insert both release keys 6 together

between the unit and the bracket 1 untilthey click.

2Pull down the bracket 1, then pull upthe unit to separate.

Frequency select switchThe AM (FM) tuning interval is factory-set to the 9k (50 k) position. If the frequency allocation systemof your country is based on 10 kHz (200 kHz)interval, set the switch on the bottom of the unit tothe 10 k (200 k) position before making connections.

Mounting example (5)Installation in the dashboard

Notes

Bend these claws outwards for a tight fit, if

necessary (5-2). Make sure that the 4 catches on the protection

collar5 are properly engaged in the slots of the

unit (5-3).

Mounting the unit in a Japanese

car (6)You may not be able to install this unit in somemakes of Japanese cars. In such a case, consultyour Sony dealer.

Note

To prevent malfunction, install only with the

supplied screws 4.

How to detach and attach thefront panel (7)Before installing the unit, detach the frontpanel.

7-A To detach

Before detaching the front panel, be sure topress (OFF). Press , then pull it off towardsyou.

7-B To attach

Attach part A of the front panel to part B of theunit as illustrated and push the left side intoposition until it clicks.

Warning when installing in a carwithout ACC (accessory)position on the ignition keyswitchAfter turning off the ignition, be sure to

press and hold (OFF) on the unit until thedisplay disappears.

Otherwise, the display does not turn off and thiscauses battery drain.

RESET button

When the installation and connections arecompleted, be sure to press the RESET buttonwith a ballpoint pen, etc., after detaching thefront panel.

Extraccin del marco deproteccin y del soporte (4)Antes de instalar la unidad, retire el marco deproteccin 5 y el soporte 1 de la misma.

1 Retire el marco de proteccin 5.1Una las llaves de liberacin 6 al marco de

proteccin 5.2Retire la llave de liberacin 6 para extraer

el marco de proteccin 5.

2 Retire el soporte 1.1 Inserte ambas llaves de liberacin 6 entre

la unidad y el soporte 1 hasta que encajen.2Presione el soporte 1 y, a continuacin,

levante la unidad para separar amboselementos.

Selector de frecuenciaEl intervalo de sintona de AM (FM) ha sido ajustadoen fbrica a la posicin 9 k (50 k). Si el sistema deasignacin de frecuencias de su pas se basa en elintervalo de 10 kHz (200 kHz), ponga este selector,situado en la base de la unidad, en la posicin 10 k(200 k) antes de realizar las conexiones.
