► The earliest examples of electronically guided model The earliest examples of electronically guided model aircraft were aircraft were hydrogen-filledhydrogen-filled model airships of the model airships of the late late 19th century19th century. They were flown as a music hall act . They were flown as a music hall act around theater auditoriums using a basic form of spark-around theater auditoriums using a basic form of spark-emitted radio signal. In 1920s, the Royal Aircraft emitted radio signal. In 1920s, the Royal Aircraft Establishment of Britain built and tested the Larynx, a Establishment of Britain built and tested the Larynx, a monoplane with a 100-mile (160 km) range powered by monoplane with a 100-mile (160 km) range powered by a Lynx engine. It was not until the 1930s that the a Lynx engine. What is a MAV???

►MAV is basically a much smaller prototype of an actual aircraft and hence its dynamics are much different and tougher to understand.

►There are 3 degrees of freedom for a MAV: roll, pitch and yaw.

►To achieve these motions, there are three control surfaces: ailerons, elevators and rudder.

CONTROL SURFACES

Forces on a MAV

Steps to make a MAV

Choose Material for body :1. Balsa‐Soft and light Easy to work on Available in strips Most widely used in aero modeling2. Thermocole / Foam‐ Choose High Density Thermocole (HDT), Foam Very light Needs Reinforcement

Steps to make a MAV

Get a Brushless Motor to power your MAV and a speed Controller

Remote ControlRemote Control

►Frequencies and sub-channels Frequency determines the line of communication

between a receiver and transmitter.

The transmitter and receiver must both be on the same frequency so the plane can be controlled.
