• While there were significant economic challenges to contend with (DOD travel restrictions, new DOE guidelines, expected loss of government supporters, BART strike, and an airplane crash at SFO), the 2013 NSREC was a financial success

• Estimated Return - $55,000 ~11% based on expenses of ~$500K (without loan)

Finance Status

Paid all bills and made refunds Sent receipts to NPSS for all expenses which they are

responsible and received transfer of those funds – Adcom meeting, Phelps awards, WIE breakfast, and 50th celebration.

Outstanding budget items• Repay $50k NPSS loan• Pay for REDW publishing mailing and TNS mailing - ~$20k

Currently working with IEEE to close-out the conference books and have the audit performed

Status• Conference planning is on track• CB account opened• May not open a local account in France

– Must open account through a third party (e.g., IEEE France Section or the RADECS Association)

– Loss of direct control over bank account and must deal with any third party requirements

– IEEE France Section requirements• Want a financial return for providing the service• Require the use of their registration system• Committee would have no control of account (no checks, no credit

cards)• Possible benefit: VAT exempt (?) and discounts on socials• Conference committee does not believe this is a viable option under

these conditions

• 2015 - Conference Chair, Mike Xapsos, NASA GSFC– July 13-17 - Marriott, Copley Place, Boston– RESG approved the preliminary 2015 budget in July and the

Finance Chair is in the process of submitting the budget for approval by the NPSS

• 2016 - Conference Chair, Robert Reed, Vanderbilt– DoubleTree (and Portland Convention Center) in Portland, OR– Conference committee currently being selected– RESG has requested a preliminary budget for approval

• 2017 – Conference Chair, Véronique Ferlet-Cavrois, ESA/ESTEC– Site visits are planned for San Diego, CA, and New Orleans, LA, in

Dec.
