Racial segregation in the United States, included the racial segregation of facilities, services, and opportunities such as housing, medical care, education, employment, and transportation along Racial lines.

Everything was segregated, schools, restaurants, and even water. “Separate but equal” was the phrase, however as you can see nothing was equal.

White men and black men couldn’t even eat together. Restaurants were segregated between a white and colored section.

Black segregated schools were horribly under funded and the children paid for it. Most African-American schools received less public funding per student than nearby white schools.

Even waiting rooms were segregated. African-Americans had to wait twice as long at bus lines, as white passengers did. Even then they had to sit at the back.

While some like Rosa Parks believed in free and equal rights some did not. American abolitionist were persecuted for what they believed in.
