Croft Nostalgia Weekend

The great thing with Historic Racing is the variety and competition; with six weekends now

completed and five different race winners, the Historic Road Sports Championship certainly leads

the way.

The weather was kind to us all weekend. Saturday morning saw an early start and a combined

qualifying session with the 70's, so a busy track for all. Peter Shaw put his Élan on pole, closely

followed by John Davison also in an Élan. Peter ran a beautifully controlled race from start to finish

to win by 6.351 seconds to John Davison and Kevin Kivlochan taking the last podium spot. Dick

Coffey winning class E in his Turner.

Race two saw John Davison jump into the lead ahead of Patrick Ward-Booth who made a superb

start to jump from fourth into P2 by the first bend. Kivlochan being pushed back to fourth. At Tower

on lap one Kivlochan slipped inside the Élan of Iain Daniels to take third and on the following lap

out dragged Ward-Booth exiting the chicane. There then followed an epic nose to tail battle

between the leading Élan of Davison and the Morgan of Kivlochan with Kivlochan diving in the

inside of the Élan at the hairpin on the penultimate lap. John Davison then suffered another diff

failure similar to Donington and a DNF.

Kivlochan took the win in the Morgan with Iain Daniels taking P2

(having broken his gear stick with a few laps to go, Iain completed

the last few laps in third gear) and Patrick Ward-Booth taking

another podium for the weekend in third.

Again, Dick Coffey showed his dominance of Class E with another

victory in his Turner.

TYRES -THE LATEST NEWS FROM THE MSA

From: John Ryan <[email protected]> Dear Dave,

Thank you for your email.

This has become a complicated topic of which will be discussed at length during forthcoming MSA meetings early September including the MSA Tyre Advisory Panel. We need to collate all of the information from the tyre manufacturers to which list current 1b tyres will still be road legal in 2016 before we establish the best way forward.

We will of course try and accommodate competitors needs as best as possible whilst complying with new road legislation.

I would hope by mid-September we can formally announce any changes. Best regards,

John
