    Alessandro Balzan kept his

remarkable Troeo Pirellirecord alive with a controlledrace one victory at a wetSpa-Francorchamps circuit, ollowed by a lights-to-agdomination in race two thesecond confrming his sixthconsecutive victory.

The Venetian, who drivesor Ferrari Moscow and onlyjoined the series at thesecond round in Imola, wonboth races at Spa as he did

in Mugello and Budapest and has now recordedseven wins rom eight starts.

In terrible weatherconditions at the spectacularBelgian circuit, Balzan hadthe upper hand over the

entire feld, producing twoperect drives. He was always

on the attack despite theincessant rain which plaguedthis fth round, to dominatethe Troeo Pirelli.

Come rain or shine Balzanis always in ront, it appears, and he has established aseemingly unassailablelead in the series.

In race one, he wasollowed across the fnishingline by his team-mate BjornGrossmann, his closest rival

in the championship. TheGerman fnished secondater some spectacularduels which confrmed thesupremacy o the FerrariMoscow team in Belgium.

Grossmann inheritedsecond place ater AndriiKruglyk o Ferrari Ukrainaspan wildly, just momentsater setting the races astestlap. Robert Pergl (Scuderia

Praha) also inherited thirdplace, fnishing 22 secondsdown, with a ast butrustrated Kruglyk ourth.

    RACE 2

In race two, Balzan made it

an astonishing six race winsin a row, with his Germanteam-mate again fnishingsecond, but this time threeseconds adrit.

Behind the Ferrari Moscowdrivers, Motor MalucellisMax Blancardi who hasbeen moving up the ordersince the start o the season fnished third ater survivinga scrappy start to the ourthlap. Robert Pergl (Scuderia

Praha) and Andrii Kruglyk(Ferrari Ukrania) had beenfghting over third position, but on lap our the pair cametogether, allowing Blancardito sweep past.

Pergl then clashed withthe British driver AlexanderMartin, both drivers orcedto retire on the spot. Kruglykmanaged to avoid the Pergl/Martin crash, but couldnt

hold o Alexandr Skryabin(Ferrari Moscow), the pairfnishing ourth and fthrespectively.

Race one in the Coppa Shellat Spa-Francorchamps wasstarted behind the saety carbecause o the amount o wateron the track and the victorywent to pole man Daniele diAmato (CDP), the only man

capable o breaking thedominance o Ferrari Moscow.

The Russian team fnishedsecond, with Alexey Basovboosting his title chances bymoving 42 points ahead o hisnearest rival, Raaele Giannoni(Motor/Piacenza).

    RACE 2

Race two rounded o theBelgian weekend in style and

    eatured plenty o on-track

fghting and passing moves, which served to make the resultar rom clear right up to thefnal lap. But in the end, Basovwas again frst past thechequered ag, ahead oGiannoni and Giacomo Stratta(Forza Service), mirroring the

order at the top o the seriesstandings.

Giannoni is now the onlydriver with a realistic chance ocatching Basov in the CoppaShell. Having come third andsecond at Spa he will be lookingto go one better in round sixand climb onto the top stepo the podium at Silverstonein September as he aces thechallenge o stopping Basov

Built on the site o a WWII Royal AirForce bomber station, Silverstone hashosted motor races since September1947, when a local group o riends setup an impromptu race on the airfelds

runways. The frst British Grand Prixwas held there in 1948, and though itpreviously alternated with other venues,Silverstone has hosted the BritishGrand Prix every year since 1987. Thecircuit itsel has seen several changesin its confguration, the most recentbeing the construction o the Arenacircuit in 2010, a 25m project whichincreased the length o the track by 760metres and included a new pit complex.
