Race Around the Island Sanctioned by PNWORCA

Race Packet Columbia River Outrigger Canoe Club (CROCC) is proud to present the 22nd Annual Race Around the Island (RATI) as part of the 2017 PNW-ORCA Summer Race Season. We hope you will join us at Chinook Landing Marine Park in Fairview Oregon on May 6, 2017.

A continental breakfast, coffee, and water will be provided to our participants. We will also be selling a BBQ lunch.

At the end of the day, there will be a Raffle and Awards presentation.

Events:

The Long course is a 8-10 mile paddle open to all divisions.The Short course is a 4-6 mile paddle open to all divisions.

**All course lengths are subject to change due to conditions.

Open to Mixed, Women, and Men with Novice, Open, Masters, Senior Masters, and Kupuna Divisions.

Pre-registration opens immediately and closes on May 1, 2017. Since we ran out of Salmon in previous years, we have added another incentive to Early Entries. You will receive 2 raffle extra tickets per paddler AND we will place a hold on a lunch plate to insure you get one. When you check in and pay for the lunch, we will set aside the Salmon fillets for your team. Make checks payable to “CROCC”.

Participating clubs who choose NOT to pre-register are encouraged to contact CROCC at crocc.events@comcast.net to let us know how many canoes you plan on entering into the race.

Safety boats will be on the course to offer assistance, but are not responsible for paddlers or equipment. PNW-ORCA Race rules apply www.pnworca.org/racing/official-rules/. Please have an extra paddle, whistle, and 6 PFD’s accessible on all OC-6’s. Skirt covers may also be required at the race director’s discretion if conditions prevail.

Helpful Information: • All participants and equipment must comply with PNW-ORCA rules

not have enough competitors.• The Columbia River is a popular recreational boating area and motor boat traffic

may be heavy at times. There is also commercial shipping traffic that has the right of way. There are wing dams off shore and strong currents.

• The race director reserves the right to change the course due to conditions (e.g. weather, boating traffic, water conditions) that may pose a threat to participants.

Directions:

Take Exit 14 off I-84 and head North. The boat ramp is at the end of NE 223rd Ave. Parking: Fees are $5.00 per day Visa or MasterCard only, No Cash. Overnight parking requires a 2-day pass. There are 74 parking spaces plus 300 slots for trailers.
