Judging and prizes 300 semi-finalists Google employees will select the best 15 doodles from each of our five class groups, across each of the four regions in the Republic of Ireland. Our regions are the four provinces: Ulster, Munster, Leinster, Connacht. Prize: • Doodle 4 Google certificate 75 finalists We will have our guest judges select the finalists across the age groups and regions. Prizes: • Invitation to prize-giving event in April 2017 where our winners are announced • Framed copy of their doodle • T-shirt personalised with image of their doodle • Google goody bag • Doodle will appear on our website for the public vote 5 class group winners The public will be asked to vote online for their favourite doodle from each judging group to help select the five class group winners. Doodles will be judged in the following five class groups: • 1: Junior Infants, Senior Infants • 2: 1 st , 2 nd , 3 rd Class • 3: 4 th , 5 th , 6 th Class • 4: 1 st , 2 nd , 3 rd Year • 5: Transition Year, 5 th , 6 th Year Title and supporting statement In addition to producing a doodle, pupils also need to: • Submit a title for their doodle • Write a supporting statement for their doodle – no more than 50 words long. Pupils should explain how they have portrayed the theme ‘If I could create anything it would be…’ in their doodle • Students have to draw their doodle on the new entry form, we can not accept any doodles drawn on blank paper Submitting entries • This year, we also accept online submissions, more details on our website • There is a limit of six entries per school. Consider holding an internal competition to select the best doodles from your school • All entries postal and online need to be received no later than Saturday, 26 th November 2016. Postal entries must be sent to Doodle 4 Google, Google Ireland Ltd., Gordon House, Barrow Street, Dublin 4 • When you are ready to submit your entries, you should complete the online entry form or the printed entry form • You will also need to include the pupils’ doodle titles and supporting statements along with your school details on the form we have included in this pack. • We can only accept submissions by post or online at http://doodles.google.ie/d4g/ Design guidelines • The doodle has to be drawn on the new entry form only • You can download the Google logo template from our website: http://doodles.google.ie/d4g/ • The doodle can be in pencil, crayon, felt tip, paint, or can be created using computer drawing or design software. This theme will provide an opportunity to showcase creativity and tap into the remarkable imagination that children and teenagers have. We have developed lesson plans in English to help teachers prepare a class around the theme ‘If I could create anything it would be…’. These plans can be downloaded from our website, at http://doodles.google.ie/d4g/ The overall winning entry will be displayed for 24 hours on the Google Ireland homepage and will be seen by millions of people. They will receive a €5,000 college scholarship, a €10,000 technology grant for their school and a Chromebook as well as one for their teacher.
