ABOUT THIS DOCUMENT

This document defines a TPS and Experion Platforms based on the Honeywell-configured DellPrecision R5500 Workstation, which uses a Quad-Core Intel Xeon processor in a single processorconfiguration. The instructions and explanations provided in this document apply to the Experion -TPSR5500-based workstation mounted in a 1000mm deep Honeywell LCN cabinet.

NOTE

If the Local Control Network (LCN) coaxial based system has been integrated with an ExperionFault Tolerant Ethernet (FTE) based system, the node (server) may be upgraded to be anExperion Local Control Network (ELCN) node, which has its ELCN Interface provided via FTE.This node may be installed as a physical or virtual platform.

If the node is upgraded to an ELCN node, and the node is a physical (a.k.a. bare-metal)platform, a Local Control Network Processor (LCNP) board coaxial interface to LCN is not used.The LCN MAU is disconnected, and/or the LCNP board is removed.

Redundant ELCN Bridges are required if the ELCN node is communicating with any otherexisting, coaxial-based LCN node.

Some LCN nodes may have been replaced by their ELCN equivalent nodes, and overall systemfeatures/architecture will differ from that of a non-ELCN integrated system (classic LCN/TPNsystem). In this case it may be necessary to refer to appropriate ELCN documentation, inaddition to the information provided herein.

2.1 Introduction

Platforms sold by Honeywell are engineered for the process control mission of Experion systems toprovide consistent, robust performance. Through an extensive qualification process, Honeywelldefines specific peripheral devices, slot locations, and BIOS settings for best performance andreliability, sometimes even adding cooling fans for longer service. Honeywell platforms are then built toHoneywell specifications by the computer manufacturer.

Honeywell engineering has tested the workstation with other Honeywell hardware and software andhas qualified its use for specific configuration items as identified in the Software Change Notice (SCN).This workstation is not a standard Dell model and cannot be ordered independently from Dell. TheTechnical Assistance Center (TAC) is well trained and supports Honeywell platforms. Use of any otherworkstation, including a similar Dell model, is considered a project special and its TAC support islimited according to the services policy.

The workstation platform provides computer-based functionality for Experion and TPS system,including Global User Stations (GUS) or Universal Station (PCUS). For TPS systems, the platforms mayhave a LCNP4e/LCNP4e2 card installed allowing connection to the TotalPlant Process Network (TPN)coax through the LCN Media Access Unit (MAU). Additionally, these platforms connect to the Ethernetthrough a standard Ethernet adapter card or the optional FTE Ethernet adapter card.

The Honeywell-configured Dell Precision R5500 workstation release for Experion and TPS is qualifiedon Microsoft Windows 7 Professional (32-bit), Microsoft Windows 7 Professional (64-bit), MicrosoftWindows 10 Enterprise LTSB 2016, and Microsoft Windows XP (32-bit) operating systems. Refer to theSoftware Change Notices (SCN) for compatibility with other software products.

The following workstation platforms are defined by the TAB numbers.

l Lower capability processor a single hard drive with Dual video controller card with Tab – 100

l Higher capability processor with two hard drives in a RAID 1 configuration with Dual videocontroller card with Tab – 200

The peripheral electronics assemblies are based upon the Peripheral Component Interconnect (PCI)bus, PCI Express, or USB 1.1 / 2.0 protocols. All mass storage and removable media devices areconnected through the SATA, SATA II 3.0 or USB, depending on the Honeywell-configured DellPrecision R5500 workstation configuration. There is one SATA interconnection for the DVDRW (±)drive.

The Standard memory configuration for this platform is 2GB (2x1GB) ECC. dual channel registeredDDR3 SDRAM memory, which can be expandable to 4GB (4x1GB). However, systems shipped fromMay 2012 onwards provide 4GB (2x2GB) RDIMM as a standard memory configuration. There are nocache memory options.

The standard mass storage is one 250GB / 500GB advanced format drive (for TAB 100) and two250GB/ 500GB advanced format drive (Tab 200) hard drives in a RAID-1 configuration.

The nVIDIA Quadro NVS 300 dual display controller is the standard display controller. The modelnumbers for this platform are structured to include the Dell USB QWERTY keyboard and optical mousewith the platform.

ATTENTION

These workstations do not include floppy disk drives. During loads using the Experion PlusInitialization media, an external media such as a thumb drive or blank DVD disk is required.

2.1.1 Furniture options

The Honeywell-configured Dell Precision R5500 workstation is a 2U RACK mount workstation platformwhich is provided with sliding RAILs from Dell. It can be mounted in a Honeywell 1000mm deepcabinets only.

The Dell Precision R5500 workstation is shipped with the following Dell motherboards.

2.3 Workstation furniture option

The Honeywell-configured Dell Precision R5500 workstation can be mounted only in Honeywell1000mm deep cabinets.

The Workstation platform is used for TPS and Experion nodes and must be rack mounted in a 1-meterdeep Honeywell equipment cabinet only, model number MP-C1MCB1. When mounted in a cabinet, theenclosure uses 2U of space plus 1U of space for a blank front panel and air duct baffle, which must bemounted directly above each R5500 Workstation.

When mounted in a cabinet, the enclosure is as displayed in the following image.

2.3.1 Electronics module

The electronics module consists of a Honeywell-configured Dell Precision R5500 workstation that canbe positioned horizontally. This workstation is mountable in Honeywell 1000 mm rack mount furniture.The primary electronic module is always connected to the built-in keyboard (man-machine interface)and the lower tier video display.

The Honeywell-configured Dell Precision R5500 workstation has six internal drive bays. However, aSATA back pane installed system utilizes only five internal drive bays. The system configured with one(1) removable media drive is a SATA CD-RW/DVD±RW combo drive. The SATA CD-RW/DVD±RWdrive is connected to a SATA port connector on the motherboard.

NOTE

A Local Control Network Processor (LCNP) board and LCN Media Access Unit (MAU) are nolonger used if the Workstation has been upgraded to be an ELCN node.

Honeywell-configured Dell Precision R5500 workstation provides dual video display by default. Inaddition, the workstation supports both triple screen and quad screen video capabilities using MatroxExtio2 Remote Peripheral Solution (RPS).

The Honeywell-configured Dell Precision R5500 workstation has six internal drive bays. However, aSATA back pane installed system utilizes only five internal drive bays. The power supply circuit is connected to AC power. The power control switch on the front panelonly enables the power supply circuit outputs.

3.3 Pinning media devices

3.3.1 Configure SCSI address for removable media drives

The workstation does not use a SCSI card option. If installing in an Icon Series Console, a SCSI to USBadapter may be used for a SCSI interface.

1 If USB mouse and keyboard are not being used, skip this step. Connect the USBmouse and USB keyboard extension cables to the USB connectors.

2 Connect the audio cable from the amplifier to the audio (green) port.

3 If you are not using Fault Tolerant Ethernet (FTE), connect the Ethernet cable to theRJ-45 connector on the onboard Network Interface port. This port can be locatednear the USB ports at the back of the R5500.

If you are using FTE, you need to connect the FTE cables according to theinstructions in the FTE Installation and Service Guide.

4 For Dual Video adapters, follow steps 5 and 6.

5 The dual display controller for R5500 (MZ-PCWS71 / 72) system is Nvidia QuadroNVS300. It supports two DVI/VGA displays using appropriate converter cable.

o For DVI monitor: Use DMS59 to DVI converter.

o For VGA monitor: Use DMS59 to DVI converter and the DVI to VGA convertercome up with NVS300 cards.

6 Connect themonitor video cable to DVI-I/VGA connector of the Converter and insertthe DMS59 to DVI/VGA converter in to the DMS59 port of the NVS300 card.

Connect the primary display to the display connector mentioned port “1” and connectthe secondary display to the display connector mentioned port “2”.

7 Check the other ends of all the video cables tomake sure they are connected to theappropriate connector on themonitors.

8 If you have anOEP/IKB, connect the Serial cable from theOEP/IKB adapter to theCOM1 port of the workstation.

9 The LCN MAU, if present, is pre-installed in the treadle area. Connect the LCN MAUcable to theMAU connector on the LCNP4E card if one is present. If other networksare being used, configure their MAU and cables appropriately.

10 Connect the workstation power cable to the workstation.

3.4 Installing workstation in Cabinets

This section provides instructions for installing a newly purchased workstation in a newly purchasedHoneywell cabinet (1000mm deep equipment cabinet with Honeywell model number MP-C1MCB1).The workstation has arrived from the Honeywell factory packaged in the Dell OEM shipping carton. Thisprocedure assumes that a new Honeywell cabinet was shipped from the Honeywell factory withworkstation hardware pre-installed.

The workstation mounts horizontally in a cabinet. The human interface is accessed locally in the cabinetor remotely using Honeywell’s remote access options.

3.4.2 Installing workstation in cabinet

Use this procedure to install the workstation in the cabinet using the telescopic slides included with theworkstation.

To install workstation in cabinet

1. Open the cabinet front and rear doors to access the inside of the cabinet.

2. Remove the telescopic slides from their packaging and identify the slide labeled “right front” andthen perform the following:

a. Orient the slide assembly inside the cabinet such that the label is near the right front verticalrail (viewed when facing the front door) and facing the interior of the cabinet.

b. While lifting the blue colored, spring loaded latch assembly, insert the three pins in the frontslide bracket into aligning square cutouts in the right front vertical rail.

c. When fully inserted, the blue colored, spring loaded latch snaps into the place and securesthe slide bracket to the mounting rail.

d. Next, move to the rear of the cabinet, lift the blue colored, spring loaded latch assembly, andinsert the three pins in the rear slide bracket into aligning square cutouts in the rear verticalrail.

ATTENTION

In the process of engaging the rear bracket in the rear vertical rail, line-to-linecontact may exist between the slide frame and the cabinet mid-depth vertical rail.This contact MUST not prevent correct installation of the slide. However, move the“slide” portion of the slide assembly through its entire stroke to verify that anydeflection of the slide assembly has not resulted in binding.

3. Perform the procedure described in step 2 for the telescopic slide labeled “left front”. Whencomplete, move the slide portion through its entire stroke to verify that no binding occurs.

4. Fully extend both slide assemblies. An audible “click” sound indicates that the slide assemblies arefully extended. With both telescopic slides fully extended, install the workstation chassis into theslides by engaging the pins extending from the sides of the chassis into the slots in the slideportions of the telescopic slide assemblies.

5. Once the workstation chassis is installed in the telescopic slides, gently push the workstation inuntil it reaches the fully closed position.

6. Cycle the workstation through one complete stroke of the telescopic slides. This allows the slidesections to correctly sequence. Once fully closed, engage the captivated fasteners in theworkstation mounting ears into the threaded holes of the slide assembly and tighten it completelyas displayed in the following image. This prevents the workstation from moving inadvertently.

To install air duct baffles and blank panel front covers in cabinet

1. Place the air duct baffle inside the cabinet with the bent tab resting along the front of the rightcabinet rail.

2. Place the blank front panel across the front of the cabinet rails. Attach it to the air duct baffle andright cabinet rail using two machine screws and two external tooth washers threaded into the twoclip nuts, and then tighten the screws.

3. Attach the other side of the blank front panel to the left cabinet rail using two machine screws andtwo external tooth washers threaded into the two clip nuts and tighten the screws.

4. Attach the rear mounting bracket to the rear cabinet rail using two thread forming screws and twoexternal tooth washers and tighten the screws.

5. Attach the air duct baffle to the rear mounting bracket using two machine screws and two externaltooth washers threaded into the two self clinching nuts. Tighten the screws.

3.5 Connecting cables to the workstation

3.5.1 To connect the cables to the workstation

1. Connect a parallel device, such as a printer, to the parallel port. If you have a USB printer, plug itinto a USB port.

ATTENTION

The integrated parallel port is automatically disabled if the workstation detects aninstalled card containing a parallel port configured to the same address.

2. Connect a serial device, such as a handheld device, to the serial port. If necessary, the address forthis port can be modified through System Setup.

3. If you have a standard USB keyboard, plug it into a USB 2.0 port. If you have a PS/2 keyboard, plugit into the PS/2 purple keyboard port.

4. If you have a standard USB mouse, plug it into a USB 2.0 port. If you have a PS/2 mouse, plug itinto the PS/2 green mouse port.

5. Use the back USB ports for devices that typically remain connected, such as a printer, mouse, andkeyboard.

6. If you are using SAWUSB touchscreens or SAW serial touch screens through USB to serialconnector cable, connect the USB touch screen to USB 2.0 port.

7. Use the green line-out port to attach headphones and most speakers with integrated amplifiers. Onworkstations with a sound card, use the connector on the card.

8. Use the blue line-in port to attach a record/playback device such as a cassette player, CD player, orVCR. On workstations with a sound card, use the connector on the card.

9. To attach your workstation to a network or broadband device, connect one end of a network cableto either a network jack or your network or broadband device. Connect the other end of the networkcable to the network adapter port on your workstation. A click indicates that the network cable hasbeen securely attached.

ATTENTION

Do not plug a telephone cable into the network port.

It is recommended that you use Category 5 wiring and connectors for your network. If you must useCategory 3 wiring, force the network speed to 10 Mbps to ensure reliable operation.

1. If you have an IKB that uses the OEP/IKB adapter, connect the PS/2 keyboard cable from theOEP/IKB adapter to the keyboard PS/2 port.

2. If you are not using Fault Tolerant Ethernet (FTE), connect the Ethernet cable to the RJ-45connector on the Network Interface Card.

If you are using FTE, you must connect the FTE cables according to the instructions in the FTE(FE05) Installation and Service Guide.

3. Connect the LCN MAU cable to the MAU connector on the LCNP4E/LCNP4E2 card.

4. Connect the USB devices or Hubs to the USB ports, if any, including the USB IKB if you are usingone.

3.5.3 Connecting monitors

To connect single/dual video card to the monitor

1. Connect the primary display to the display 1 connector of the DMS59 to the DVI/VGA converter.

2. If you are connecting a dual display, then connect the primary display in display 1 and secondarydisplay in display 2 of the nVIDIA Quadro NVS 300.

ATTENTION

The following image just illustrates the dual video connection. Dell R5500 is notqualified to be used with Honeywell Icon Console.

3. Secure any loose cables, and verify that all cables have proper strain relief.

3.6 Connecting Adapters

The workstation has standard 9-pin serial port COM 1. You must connect Honeywell devices to thecorrect serial port as defined in the following table.

To install OEP/IKB adapter

1. Locate a safe location for the OEP/IKB adapter box and secure it using the supplied Velcro.

2. Locate a safe location to place the OEP/IKB power adapter box and secure it using the suppliedVelcro.

3. If the IKB has a trackball, connect it to the mouse PS/2 port on the workstation.

4. Locate and connect the male end of the DB9 M/F COM port cable (51196990-500) to the COM porton the OEP/IKB module assembly/adapter (51305776-100).

5. Secure the connection by tightening the thumbscrews located on the cable end.

6. Connect the female end of the DB9 M/F COM port cable (51196990-500) to COM 1 port located onthe back panel of the workstation and tighten the thumbscrews.

7. Insert the round DIN plug of the supplied IKB PS/2 cable (51305381-500) into the PS/2 connectoron the OEP/IKB module assembly (51305776-100).

8. Connect the free end of the IKB PS/2 cable (51305381-500) to the keyboard PS/2 port on theworkstation.

9. Take the DC power cable from the IKB/OEP power supply adapter (51197184-100) and insert theround DIN plug into the power connector receptacle on the IKB/OEP module assembly/adapter(51305776-100).

10. Connect the existing OEP/IKB Keyboard HD15 cable to the HD15 OEP/IKB receptacle located onthe IKB/OEP assembly/adaptor (51305776-100). Secure the cable to the assembly/adapter bytightening the thumbscrews located on the end of the cable.

11. Perform the following to connect the IEC power cord (51305830-100):

a. Connect one female end to the OEP/IKB power adapter (51197184-100).

b. Connect the other female end to the power entry.

c. Connect the male end to the original workstation power cord.

3.7 Connecting touchscreen power adapter cable

Use the information and procedures in this section to connect the touchscreen power cable for thefollowing touchscreen configurations:

l Touchscreen is connected with the OEP Serial port.

l Touchscreen is connected with the IKB Serial port.

l Connecting touchscreen adapter cable

l Connect touchscreen and OEP adapter cables

3.7.1 Connecting touchscreen adapter cable

To connect the supplied touchscreen adapter cable to touchscreen device andworkstation

1. If your touchscreen uses the touchscreen adapter box, connect the end of the new touchscreencable that does not have the 4-pin connector to the DB9 socket on the box.

2. If your touchscreen uses the DB9 socket on the back of the monitor, connect the end of the newtouchscreen cable that does not have the 4-pin connector to the DB9 socket on the back of themonitor.

3. If your touchscreen uses the DB9 socket on the touchscreen frame, connect the end of the newtouchscreen cable that does not have the 4-pin connector to the DB9 socket on the touchscreenframe.

4. Connect the other end of the touchscreen cable (the end with the 4-pin connector) to the USB toSerial Converter cable Serial port and connect the USB end of the converter cable to the USB portof the workstation.

ATTENTION

For SAW serial touch screen, connect the USB to serial converter to USB 2.0/3.0 port onthe motherboard.

If steps 3 or 4 do not apply to your configuration, upgrade to a flat panel display fortouchscreen functionality.

If you are mounting the workstation in a console, remove the CRT cover.

5. Connect the 4-pin connector to the remote power circuit assembly card on the workstation.

3.7.2 Connect touchscreen and OEP adapter cables

Connect the touchscreen cables as illustrated in the following image.

3.7.4 Remote Peripheral Solution

The Honeywell-configured workstation can be remotely accessible by using the Remote PeripheralSolution (RPS). The RPS can be used for monitors, keyboard, cursor movement devices, audio anddrives. The RPS was initially implemented for Icon Series console and desktop configuration. For furtherinformation, refer to the EXTIO 2 Remote Peripheral Solutions Installation Instructions EP-DPCX24 andWyse R10L Remote Peripheral Solutions Installation Instructions EP-DPCX26 documents. Thefollowing table displays the model number for the RPS.

4.1 Starting the workstation

This section describes the steps to be performed for turning on the workstation and setting the monitorresolution.

4.1.1 Turn on the workstation

To turn on the workstation

1. Press the power button on the front panel of the workstation.

2. Wait for the power light to become solid green.

4.1.2 Configuring RAID

You must perform the following steps only when the RAID level is not configured on the host machine,and when the workstation contains only two hard drives. While performing the following steps, youcannot access the information present in the hard drives.

To configure RAID

1. Turn on the workstation.

2. After starting the workstation, Press F2 on the keyboard to enter the System Setup.

3. Using the ARROW keys, from Settings, select Drives SATA Operation.

4. Press the TAB key to select options in SATA Operation.

5. Using the ARROW keys, select RAID On, and then press ENTER.

A message SATA operation is being changed appears.

6. Select Yes to accept.

7. Using the TAB key select APPLY, and then press ENTER to save the changes.

8. Using the TAB key select EXIT, and then press ENTER to exit from the System setup.

The computer restarts automatically.

9. After restarting the computer, while the computer is performing POST (Power On Self Test), at thetime of storage controller initialization, a message Press <Ctrl-I> to enter configuration utilityappears.

10. Press CTRL+I to enter the Intel® Matrix Storage Manager

11. Using the ARROW keys, highlight the option Create RAID Volume.

12. Press ENTER to display the Create Volume Menu.

13. Press the TAB key to select the RAID level option.

14. Using the ARROW keys, set the RAID level to RAID1 (Mirror).

15. Press ENTER and set the default for other options (Leave the Default Values for other options).

16. Press the TAB key and select Create Volume.

17. Press ENTER.

A warning message appears prompting you to confirm the volume creation.

18. Press Y to accept.

19. Using the ARROW keys, select Exit and then press ENTER to exit.

A confirmation message appears asking you to restart the computer.

20. Press Y to accept.

4.1.3 Check LCNP status

If the node is a T-node with the LCNP4E / LCNP4e2 board installed, verify that the LCNP passed a self-test.

To check LCNP status

1. From the Start menu, select LCNP Status.

2. Verify that the LCNP status indicates Passed Self Test and is circled in green.

3. Verify that LCN Address appears in the LEDs field of the LCNP Status display

4.1.4 Set monitor resolution

When the workstation is initialized, the monitor configuration is established based on the following userinput.

l FPD type monitors with 60 Hz

After initialization, if you are installing a monitor different from what was originally defined, you mustadjust the monitor settings for optimal performance.

To set the monitor resolution

1. Choose Start > Settings > Control Panel.

The Control Panel window appears.

2. Double-click Display.

The Display Properties dialog box appears.

3. Click the Settings tab.

4. In Screen resolution, drag the slider to the appropriate resolution.

5. Click Apply, and then click OK.

4.2 Network connections

Each Honeywell-configured platform must be connected to an ETHERNET network.

NOTE

A Local Control Network Processor (LCNP) board and LCN Media Access Unit (MAU) are nolonger used if the Workstation has been upgraded to be an ELCN node.

4.2.1 Ethernet network

ETHERNET 10/100/1000 Base T connection is standard on the Honeywell-configured Dell PrecisionR5500 platform. You must use the onboard dual Broadcom NIC for configuring FTE or Ethernetconnection.

4.2.2 Local Control Network

The connection to the LCN Network is made via the LCNP4E/LCNP4E2 mid-size Local Control NetworkProcessor card model number TP-LCNP04/TP-LCNP05. This card provides the communication path forthe Honeywell-configured Dell Precision R5500 to other LCN modules. The LCNP4E/LCNP4E2consists of a PCI Express 3.3 Volt LCNP4E/LCNP4E2 Medium Size card, a MAU cable and the LCNMAU (Media Access Unit).

The LCN node address should be set to the address the customer requires. If the LCN address is notknown, then the node address should be set to zero (0). Setting the address to zero (0) allows the nodeto be connected to the LCN without the risk of an address conflict with some other live node in acustomer network segment. This is consistent with the current LCN standard procedure.

5.1 Accessing the components in the workstation

This section contains steps for removing the workstation from furniture and accessing the componentswithin the workstation.

l Perform workstation shutdown

l Remove the workstation from a Cabinet

5.1.1 Perform workstation shutdown

The following workstation shutdown procedure is applicable to workstations mounted in a Z or EZConsole, Cassic Console, or Cabinet.

1. Perform a double SHUTDOWN of the native window and a SHUTDOWN of the Windowsoperating system.

Refer to the Global User Station User's Guide for instructions.

2. When RESTART message appears, place the Power Entry breaker in OFF position (applicable toconsoles only).

3. Turn off power to the computer if it has a separate power switch, and disconnect the AC powercord.

4. Turn off power to the monitor(s) and the printer, if applicable.

5.1.2 Remove the workstation from a Cabinet

If the workstation is mounted using the slide mount option, remove it from the furniture before servicing.

To remove the workstation from a Cabinet

1. Open the rear cabinet door.

2. Disconnect the cables that are connected to the back panel connectors of the workstation. Do notdisconnect the peripheral ends of the cables unless specifically instructed to do so. Tag the cablesso that they can be properly reconnected to the workstation.

3. Open the front cabinet door.

4. Remove the captivated panel fastener screws from the threaded inserts.

5. If the retaining brackets are attached, loosen the two captivated fasteners on each retaining bracketand remove them. The following image illustrates the two captivated fasteners being removed.

6. If you are using a slide mount option, pull the slide try out and place the workstation on a suitablework surface or you may service the workstation while still on the slide tray.

5.1.3 Open the enclosure

To simplify servicing when using the slide mount option, internal hardware components can be servicedwithout having to remove the enclosure from the console or cabinet.

To open the enclosure

1. If this is a slide mount workstation, slide the tray from the furniture.

2. Unlock the top cover and gently lift the latch up as illustrated in the following image.

3. Using the latch lift the top cover of the workstation as illustrated in the following image.

4. Service the hardware components as required.

l For servicing other Honeywell installed options, refer to section Adding/replacing cards inexpansion slots

l For other components, refer to the Dell service manual.

5.2 Servicing the LCNP4E/LCNP4E2

The LCNP4E/LCNP4E2 board is soldered to the board and has an on-board memory of 16 MB. TheLCNP4E/LCNP4E2 board is utilized as the TPS co-processor for the GUS and other PC platforms thatrequire LCN connectivity. It plugs into a PCI-Express bus connector of these PC platforms.

5.2.1 Replacing/adding the LCNP4E/LCNP4E2 board

If the LCNP4E/LCNP4E2 board is located in the PCIe slot 6 of the workstation, use this procedure toreplace the LCNP4E/LCNP4E2 assembly in PCIe slot 2.

ATTENTION

Honeywell-qualified Dell R5500 workstation (model numbers MZ-PCWS71 and MZ-PCWS72)are shipped with single CPU configuration.

The PCIe slots 5 and 6 of the Dell R5500 workstation are used for communicating with the CPU-2 through QPI (Intel Quick Path Interconnect). If LCNP4e/LCNP4e2 is installed in slot 6, whichcommunicates to CPU-2, (physically not available) then the PCI communication is redirectedthrough a second QPI to communicate with CPU-1. The data transfer through the QPI to CPU-1 isirregular and results in large amount of data being transferred causing the HM (History Module)to crash. Hence, to avoid such scenarios, Honeywell recommends you to place theLCNP4e/LCNP4e2 card in PCIe slot 2.

To replace/add the LCNP4M board

NOTE

If upgrading to an ELCN node, perform Steps 1 thru 8 to remove the LCNP4 board.

1. Perform all the tasks described in section Accessing the components in the workstation.

2. Disconnect the LCN MAU cable from LCNP4M board.

3. For nVIDIA Quadro NVS 300, remove the DMS59 to DVI dongle.

4. For Extio, remove the fiber optic cable connected to the PCIe card.

5. Remove the side cover of the workstation.

6. Remove the top cover of the workstation, perform the steps mentioned in section Open theenclosure

7. Lift the center riser board to access the LCNP4E/LCNP4E2 board as illustrated in the followingimage and remove the riser board from the motherboard.

8. While wearing a grounded ESD wrist strap, unlock the LCNP4E PCI bracket notch, grasp theLCNP4E/LCNP4E2 card in PCIe Slot 6 at the corners and gently remove the existing card.

9. Place the PCIe bracket filler that was previously removed while installing the LCNP4e/LCNP4e2card in the empty PCIe slot 6. Lock the bracket notch such that the filler does not move.

10. Insert the center riser board back on the motherboard.

11. Replace the card holder and card retention arm making sure the tab locks into place.

12. Replace the workstation cover and place the workstation in the furniture using the appropriateinstallation procedures in section Installing.

13. Reconnect all the cables.

14. Restart the operating system.

5.2.2 Inserting the LCNP4E/LCNP4E2 board in slot 2

If the LCNP4E/LCNP4E2 board is located in the PCIe slot 2 of the workstation, use this procedure toreplace the LCNP4E/LCNP4E2 assembly in PCIe slot 2.

To replace/add the LCNP4M board

1. Perform all the tasks described in section Accessing the components in the workstation.

2. Disconnect the LCN MAU cable from LCNP4E/LCNP4E2 board.

3. For nVIDIA Quadro NVS 300, remove the DMS59 to DVI dongle.

4. For Extio, remove the fiber optic cable connected to the PCIe card.

5. Remove the side cover of the workstation.

6. Remove the top cover of the workstation, perform the steps mentioned in section Open theenclosure

7. Lift the center riser board to access the LCNP4E/LCNP4E2 board as illustrated in the followingimage and remove the riser board from the motherboard.

8. In PCIe slot 2, unlock the bracket notch and remove the bracket filler.

9. Insert the LCNP4E/LCNP4E2 board assembly in the PCIe slot 2 and lock the bracket notch, suchthat the card does not move as illustrated in the following image.

10. Insert the center riser board back on the motherboard.

11. Replace the card holder and card retention arm making sure the tab locks into place.

12. Replace the workstation cover and place the workstation in the furniture using the appropriateinstallation procedures in section Installing.

13. Reconnect the LCN MAU cable and the other cable that were removed.

14. Restart the operating system.

15. For Experion R3xx and TPS R4xx perform the following:

a. Log on to the system with Administrator privileges.

A dialog box appears, close the dialog box.

The Found New Hardware Wizard is displayed.

b. Select No, not this time option and click Next.

The Honeywell LCNP4e page is displayed.

c. Select Install from a list for specific location [Advanced] option and click Next.

The Please choose your search and installation options page is displayed.

d. Select Don’t search, I will choose the driver to install option and click Next.

The Select the device driver you want to install for this hardware page is displayed.

e. From Show compatible hardware list, select Honeywell LCNP4e and then click Next.

The Please wait while this wizard installs the software page appears. The selected driver isinstalled.

f. On the Completing the Found New Hardware Wizard, click Finish.

g. From the desktop, right-click the My Computer icon and choose Manage.

The Computer Management window is displayed.

16. For Experion R4xx with Microsoft Windows 7 Professional perform the following:

a. Log in to the system with Administrator privileges.

ATTENTION

The system may take a few minutes to initialize the network and theLCNP4e/LCNP4e2 card inserted in PCIe slot 2.

b. Choose Start > Computer, right-click the Computer icon and choose Manage.

The Computer Management window is displayed.

17. In the right pane, ensure that Honeywell LCNP4 appears.

This ensures that the LCNP4E/LCNP4E2 card inserted in PCIe slot 2 is detected.

18. Shutdown the workstation and disconnect the power cable for 30 seconds.

19. Power on the workstation and log in with Administrator privileges for the LCN status and Nativewindow to function properly.

5.3 Replacing/adding optional components

This section contains procedures for adding or replacing optional components in the workstation.

l Replacing/adding video card

5.3.1 Replacing/adding video card

The video card is located in the PCIe slot 4 in the workstation.

To replace/add the video card

1. Perform all the tasks described in section Accessing the components in the workstation.

2. Disconnect power from the workstation.

3. Remove the workstation from furniture

4. Disconnect cables from the from the video card.

5. Remove the top cover of the workstation, perform the steps mentioned in section Open theenclosure

6. Lift the center riser board to access the LCNP4E/LCNP4E2 board as illustrated in the followingimage and remove the riser board from the motherboard.

7. While wearing a grounded ESD wrist strap, unlock the Video board PCI bracket notch, grasp thevideo card in PCIe Slot 4 at the corners and gently remove the existing card.

8. Insert the replacement LCNP4E/LCNP4E2 board assembly in the PCIe slot 4 as illustrated in thefollowing image.

9. Lock the PCI bracket notch and insert the outer riser board on motherboard.

10. Replace the card holder and card retention arm making sure the tab locks into place.

11. Replace the workstation cover and place the workstation in the furniture using the appropriateinstallation procedures in section Installing.

12. Reconnect the cables to the video card.

To add additional memory card

1. Perform all the tasks described in section Accessing the components in the workstation.

2. Disconnect power from the workstation.

3. Remove the workstation from furniture

4. Remove the top cover of the workstation, perform the steps mentioned in section Open theenclosure

5. Lift the CPU shroud as illustrated in the following image

6. To access the memory slots, unlock the HDD tray notch and slide the HDD tray towards front asillustrated in the following image.

ATTENTION

The DIMMs are hot to the touch for some time after the system has been powered down.Allow time for the DIMMs to cool before handling them. Handle the DIMMs by the edgesand avoid touching DIMM components.

7. The DIMM sockets are now exposed. Refer to the Memory configuration for DIMM socketconfiguration.

8. While wearing a grounded ESD wrist strap, press the ejectors on the memory module socket downand out to allow the memory module to be inserted into the socket.

9. Align the memory module’s connector with the alignment key on the memory module socket, andinsert the memory module in the socket.

ATTENTION

The memory module socket has an alignment key that allows you to install the memorymodule in the socket in only one way.

10. Press down on the memory module with your thumbs.

Pull up the ejectors with your index fingers to lock the memory module into the socket.

When the memory module is properly seated in the socket, the ejectors on the memory modulesocket align with the ejectors on the other sockets that have memory modules installed.

11. Reconnect the white connector on the drive power cable. Replace the card holder and cardretention arm making sure the tab locks into place.

12. Replace the workstation cover and place the workstation in the furniture using the appropriateinstallation procedures in section Installing.

5.4 Verifying the BIOS settings

Honeywell configures specific BIOS settings in the factory for each workstation configuration, and thissetting must not be altered. You may verify the settings if required.
