Established in 1990 as the Scientific Research Institute for Labour and Social Protection it became in 1996 the National Scientific Research Institute for Labour and Social Protection (INCSMPS), certified by the Ministry of Education and Research, through the Governmental Decision no 1305, certified again in 2001.

Since 2000, an Excellency Centre for Labour and Social Protection has been active within the Institute, according to the National Plan for Research, Development and Innovation –Programme RELANSIN

The most important of our scientific research fields are:

demography, labour market; prognoses, strategies;

human resources management, labour motivation and productivity; social indicators and living standard;

insurance and social assistance;

regulations on labour and social protection; industrial relations;

resources and development for the SME.

We are an institution self-financed, participating to the competitions by submitting the project proposals on the National and International Research Programmes.

Beginning with 2000, I.N.C.S.M.P.S. undertakes research projects in the frame of the following research programmes:

The most important rewards during 2000 - 2012 are:

1st place in the top of RD & High Tech companies in 2008, 2009, 2010, 2011 and 2012 – awards of National Chamber of Commerce and Industry

1st place for Complex RD projects in Socio-economic Sciences and Humanities, 2007, from the National Authority for Scientific Research;

1st place in the top of RD & High Tech companies in 2006 – award of National Chamber of Commerce and Industry;

medals and diplomas of Excellence for research, at the “Romanian Science and Innovations Fair, 2000” (7 of 9);

reconfirmation of I.N.C.S.M.P.S. as “Excellence Centre” (2000);

coordination of many research consortiums for projects included in the Excellency Research Programme CEEX of the National Plan of RD & Innovation – I and II - of the National Authority for Scientific Research.

Our main activities and previous projects:

In the last years, INCSMPS was involved in projects having as subject and scientific objectives advance the understanding of the relationship between education and labour market.

The main research projects developed on this thematic were focused on the School To Work Transition and Mobility on the Labour Market

Some of these project are: Evaluation and forecasting of potential labor demand for graduates of higher education in occupational structure, in view of year 2020, for the development of appropriate policies on university training

Correlation of the engineering and professional education’s offer with the labor market requirements

The management of correlation of educational system with the labour market

Knowing the degree of professional insertion of technical and vocational education graduates - a new approach of educational offer.

Our colaborators, partners, networks The institute has a large network including partner research institutions, universities, training centres, public institutions in the field of education, labour, employment and other organizations acting in the field of social protection (foundations, NGOs, trade unions).

Our mandate as a support institution for Romanian MMFPS:

Participation together with the MMFPS in the elaboration of policy documents, strategies and action programs, documents related to the European Union. e.g. National Employment Strategy, Lifelong Training Strategy, the National employment action- NAPE, Inclusion Memorandum - JIM, Joint Memorandum on employment Policy - JAP, regional action plans for technical and vocational education PRAI.

The results of the research conducted by the Institute led to the elaboration of employment and vocational training policies, initial training for professional and technical education policies, minimum wage policy, pension policy. There are submited to the minister, secretaries of state, general managers - where appropriate - the MMFPS, the National Employment Agency, the National House of Pensions and Other Social Insurance Rights as direct beneficiaries;
