Introduction
Gone are the days when the roads werepacked with cars emitting obnoxious fumes, because now its time for the AIR CAR to roll
on everybody into a clean, green and eco-friendly future!

NSPIRATION AND INNOVATION
The idea of the air car was first perceived by Roy J.Meyers.
Four air tanks filled with compressed air propelled thecar 500 miles at a speed of 35 miles an hour.
The engine did not require a cooling system, ignitionsystem, carburetor, nor many moving parts included in astandard gasoline motor

How Compressed Air Can Fuel aCar
Compressed air at 300 bars isstored in the carbon fiber tanks A.
Air is released through the main lineand decompression takes place in B.
The now cold air passes through aheat exchanger C,adds thermalenergy for air conditioning D.
Warmed compressed air now passes to the engine E, where two morestages of decompression and re-heating take place.
Engine drives the rear axle G through transmission F. Control of enginespeed is through a conventional accelerator pedal H controlling a valve
within the engine.

Compressed air tanks
Air tanks store 90m of air at 300 bars ofpressure.
In the case of an accident, there would beno explosion or shattering because the tanksare not metallic but made of glass fiber.
An elongated crack would appear in thetank, without exploding, and the air wouldsimply escape, producing a loud butharmless noise.
Before compression, the air is filtered to get rid of any impurities.Carbon filters are used to eliminate dirt, dust, humidity and other particles.

How do air engineswork?
Engine provided with three chambers
namely-Intake and compressionCombustion chamberExpansion and exhaust
Car at speeds below 60 km/h runs oncompressed air and above it on air-fuel
mixture
Injection similar to normal engines, usesspecial crankshafts and pistons, this
allows more power to be developed in theengine.
Energy recycler system utilizes energy wasted in braking anddeceralation to power an onboard compressor and at car start up andacceleration.

Refilling methods for AirCars
At home
Tanks are refilled by pluggingthe car into a mains socket tofeed the motor-alternator whichcompresses the air with themotor-compressor.
It takes 4 hrs at 230 volts for it.
At service-station
Uses high pressure aircompressor to pump in just 3mins.

The chassis
MDI has put together highly-resistant, yet light, chassis, aluminum rods glued together. Also it incorporates aHoneycomb structure.Using rods enables us to build a more shock-resistantchassis than regular chassis.Rods are glued in same way as aircraft, allowing quickassembly and a more secure join than with welding reducingmanufacture time.

Advantages of Air Car
Refueling can be done at home using an air compressor or at servicestations.
Compressed air engines reduce the cost of vehicle production by about20%.
Expansion of the compressed air lowers its temperature; this may beexploited for use as air conditioning.
The price of fueling air powered vehicles will be significantly cheaper
than current fuels
Most of all,its a zero-emission technology and will help reduce pollutiondrastically.

Disadvantages
Any conversion of energy between forms results in loss..
For compressed-air cars, energy is lost when electricalenergy is converted to compressed air.
Tanks get warm when filled rapidly. It would be difficult to
cool the tanks efficiently while charging and would eithertake a long time to fill the tanks, or they would have totake less than a full charge.
Refueling the compressed air container using a home orlow-end conventional air compressor may take as longas 4 hours.

:Time to driving without oil Now an AirCar from Tata Motors
Tata Motors has signed an agreement with MotorDevelopment International of France to develop acar that runs on compressed air, thus making it veryeconomical to run and be almost totally pollution free.
The car could cost around Rs 350,000 in India andwould have a range of around 300 km betweenrefuels. The cost of a refill would be about Rs 90.

Conclusion
From all the disruption made one can say that by using aircar there is reduction in air pollution. The emissionbenefits of introducing this zero emission technology areobvious. Also, the aim of project is to cut cost, create job
locally. Also air car provides an answer to the shortageof fuel and high price of fuel.
With petrol and diesel prices going up and the price of oilsubjects to fluctuation for motorist, this becomesheadache; use of air motor is only the solution. All knowthat there will be shortage of gasoline (petrol, diesel), infuture, engine that runs on compressed air is only thealternative for it.
