Celebrating 2013

Last year was a good year for the Centre. We grew to the largest number of financial members ever (nearly 950) and gained sponsorship for Open Day from three wonderful supporters, Mark Moran Little Bay, Residential Centre, the Little Bay Apartments in Pine Ave and Ma-roubra Garden Village Retirement Home operated by the Baldwin Care Group. We also enjoyed continued support from the Clovelly Community Bank, Coogee. We were also accepted as a member of the Eastern Sydney Medicare Local.

Members lucky enough to get tickets for the End of Year luncheon at St Michaels Golf Club on 16 Decem-ber enjoyed a humdinger of a party.

There were a record number of 18 Hampers carried away in prizes, the Harvey Exton Award for Excellence in Achievement was presented to Maureen Ledlin and everyone had a ball with MC

Robina Beard’s jokes, as well as bopping along with the tap dancers and zumba crew.

President Leon Goodman welcomed everyone including Michael Daley, MP for Maroubra who announced

a lovely Christmas surprise by telling us we had gained a grant of $4450.

Federal MP Matt Thistleth-waite and honorary solicitor Ann Bowen enjoyed meet-

ing members and presenting special prizes for the best decorated tables and best Christmas outfits.

All the tutors there on the day received a thank you gift and big cheer for their efforts. Tutors not present were posted thank you greetings and personal messages. We also made a record $800 on the Raffle. Thank you to everyone who came and added to the fun.

St Michael’s proved itself an exceptional venue, once again. The staff and management were outstanding.
