HEBREWS 12:28A

Happy Thanksgiving!

I wanted to start off by saying how thankful I am for the Lord’s provision! He is SO good! Praise Him!

This year has been a doozy! We had a record number of kids come out for Awana, Sunday school, three VBS weeks, and special events. We hosted a short-term mission’s team from Colorado Christian University. And we had a baby! Through it all, the Lord has been our rock and our firm foundation.

I must be honest with you . . . because of a variety of things, we were discouraged last year. Seeing the Lord work this year has given us a renewed since of purpose and a stronger faith in Him. I have tried to be better at communication as well. We started a YouTube channel (search Matthew Annanie)

that showcases different parts of the ministry and lets you see the ministry, not just read about it. I have tried to make it fun, but I am still a novice.

Last year, as Sarah and I became discouraged we questioned the need for children’s ministry out here in Okinawa. There are a variety of reasons as to why we were discouraged. After being on the mission field for multiple years (five years

now), we were tired. Doing that much hands-on direct ministry is tough and tiring. The military community is always changing. With each PCS (permanent change of station) season, we didn’t know what the year was going to look like. We would often wonder if we were going to have people excited for ministry.

For the past couple of years, it just seemed that people were not interested nor excited about the ministry. So, we began to pray to God for some encouragement and direction. The Lord answered our prayers. It all started to change over the past nine months. People started to engage in the ministry. We saw families show up who wanted to build community with each other. They wanted to be part of outreach and

reach the Camp Foster military community with the Gospel. It has been a refreshing and welcomed change.

We have also become parents of two kids. Our newest addition to the family is Felicity Hope Annanie. She is

currently two months old and doing what babies do. Piper is doing well with the change. She is a very helpful big sister. Since Felicity’s arrive, Piper has turned all her stuff animals into babies that need to be swaddled and read to consistently. It is a joy to see! Sarah has recovered well and is making this mom with two kids thing look simple and easy, while she won’t say that. IT’S TRUE! We are both tired but hanging in there. I stand in awe of parents even more now that I have two kids. Impressive work, parents! You are doing great!

As you think and pray for us this holiday season, pray that we can find some rest. Would you also pray that people want to partner alongside of us financially to bring the Gospel to the military people of Okinawa?

Over the years things have changed—we grew bigger as a family, things cost more, supporters have had things come up, we have lacked in our communication, and a variety of other reasons have resulted in us being down $1,000 dollars a month. We are praying that as you think about your year-end giving, you would think of what God is doing out here in Okinawa and consider partnering with us.

We are so thankful for you and what you have given to God on our behave. We pray that the Lord continues to bless you!
