About Our Services:
Caremark Barnsley provides support to people who wish to enjoy an ordinary life

they live in.
We listen to you and take time to understand what’s important to you, thinking
about your aspirations and needs. We plan with you to make sure your wishes are
considered and encourage you to make choices about how you want to live your
life.
We support people of all ages who have Physical Disabilities, Learning Disabilities,
people with Autism and Mental Health problems, providing opportunities to enjoy a
fulfilling life.
By listening to what you want, giving you advise on what activities are available in
your community, we can plan together to ensure the support is flexible for you,
when you want, as often or little as you want. Whatever we plan together with you,
it can be changed as your wishes change and your life progresses.

you.

and household finances. Help you to plan your weekly spending and bill
paying.

practical household tasks, such as cleaning.
• Maybe you have a family member who is your carer and they need a little
time to themselves. We can help you, whilst they have a break away for a
short time or longer periods of time if you wish.
4
Everything we do is arranged with you, around your wishes to make sure you are in
control of your life. We recognise that we all wish to enjoy life and do the things that
are important to us. No matter how little time is needed we provide help that is
personal to you.
o We enable you to do the things that are important to you
o Encouraging you to DO rather than us DOING for, giving you a
sense of achievement and self-esteem.
Our support is available every day of the week at all times. We have no set start
and stop times, life goes on all day, every day and we can be there to help you,
morning, afternoon, evening and night, whatever, whenever for however long you

Safeguarding (Staying safe)
We act responsibly in protecting and detecting threats to people’s human rights and safety, encouraging you to raise concerns you have about your safety or the safety of someone else. Working with other agencies and the safeguarding team, our staff are trained, enabling them to recognise actual or suspected abuse. You should speak directly to your support worker about any concerns or one of our supervisors, registered manager or Directors of the service. We will make you to feel comfortable in raising concerns no matter how low level they may appear to you, listening and treating your comments in the strictest of confidence, with dignity, listened to and assisted in every way. If you do not wish to talk to one of our team or wish to raise a concern anonymously, we can direct you to an advocate, a support group or someone independent who can listen to your concerns.
6
Quality
Our service is flexible to the needs and choices of the individual using it. We ensure people make choices free from discrimination enjoying equality, encouraging and supporting people to take safe risks, reaching their aspirations. We spend time to match a support worker with you, taking account of your needs, wishes and personality. Where appropriate we adopt an ‘enabling’ approach, assisting you to do rather than doing for, improving your independence, building your confidence.
Through regular reviews, looking at what’s working for you, what you wish to change and what else is possible, we ensure that the support you get continues to get better and meet your needs and expectations. We evaluate and enhance our service by consulting customers, families, friends and
advocates, through open forums and confidential surveys,
We ask what and how they would like our service to be, acting on feedback, making
changes to how we do things.
7
Service User Involvement
We encourage involvement from customers through surveys and service user forums:
What’s working well?
What would you change?
What could we do differently?
What other support could we offer?
We listen to feedback, looking for trends in what people are saying. In a recent survey some of our customers said they would like regular newsletters telling them about what we are doing and what services are available in the community. From this we have developed a quarterly customer newsletter that is available in easy read versions. We involve service users in recruitment of support staff, ensuring potential candidates are able to support their aspirations, matching personalities. One service user had a specific need to attend a gym for rehabilitation needing a knowledgeable person to assist them. We found a support worker for them and now offer this service to other service users. Our service is shaped by the people who use it.

Information Relating to the Costing Model
It is important for providers to demonstrate transparency in relation to their costs and
to ensure that the service provides value for money. This information will be
essential to Service Users and families, Commissioners and others, when they are
making their decisions. Likewise where the Council purchases a service on behalf of
an individual using the assessed list procurement guidelines will apply.
Care Managers / Co-ordinators have a duty through this process to ensure that a
service offers value for money and will undertake a check against other provision of
the same or similar where it is deemed that that provision could meet the individual’s
needs.
Below are some benchmarking examples and a guide in relation to activities.
