Nuvista• Nuvista’s efforts to
Improve energy infrastructure Stabilize electricity costs
• Nuvista Light & Electric Cooperative, Inc. was tasked in 2011 to tackle these issues in a real way.
• With strong support from Y-K communities and entities, we are taking practical steps forward.
• So that rural Alaska’s energy solutions are our solutions.
![Page 5: Quyumta](https://reader036.vdocuments.us/reader036/viewer/2022062301/56815aa4550346895dc83559/html5/thumbnails/5.jpg)
As we the know the needs are great
• Electric generation in rural Alaska is heavily subsidized. Yet the cost remains high.
• Energy sources > petroleum based > fluctuating prices > pollution
• Rural businesses pay full, unsubsidized prices for electricity.
• This is not a sustainable future. Residents of Bethel and Dillingham pay twice what Alaskan urban areas pay
for electricity.
Current average cost of electricity in Anchorageis $0.12 per kWh.
