In the TESOL (Teaching English to Speakers of OtherLanguages) study area you are required to complete:one (1) MEd core unit: EDN611 Conducting andEvaluating Educational Research, plus five (5) studyarea core units: LCN604 Second Language CurriculumDesign; LCN606 Second Language Assessment;LCN612 Sociolinguistics; LCN614 Grammar forSecond Language Teaching and LCN638 Theory andPractice of Second Language Teaching and Learning,plus two (2) Postgraduate Education option units. (atotal of 96 credit points) You are permitted to enrol in aminimum of one (1) unit in a semester, but pleaseconsult the Maximum Course Completion Times. Atthe beginning of each year, it is imperative that youenrol in BOTH semester 1 and semester 2.

ORIENTATION: It is recommended that commencingstudents attend the Master of Education/GraduateCertificate in Education Orientation held at the KelvinGrove Campus on the first Saturday after orientationweek each semester. Orientation will include sessionsexplaining the course structure and content;discussions on relevant topics by academics andstudents; general discussion and question time;meetings with the study area coordinators; andsessions on the Library, QUT Blackboard, andacademic writing. Details will be available on theOrientation Planner on your QUT Virtual. After

accepting your offer, you will receive information aboutthe event via email. Please make sure that you havelinked your QUT email to your personal email so youcan immediately receive emails when you become astudent.
