WE are TIPP! “TOGETHER” WE ARE EXTRAORDINARY!

Next week Tipp City voters go to the polls. One issue on the ballot is the renewal of an Emergency Levy for Tipp City Schools. Voters first supported this issue in 2015 at a time when the district was losing staff to higher paying jobs after having had their salary step increases frozen during a four year period. This levy is a renewal and allows the district to pay competitive salaries to attract and retain high quality teachers and staff our students need to succeed. Our students consistently rank among the top on proficiency and achievement tests, annually boast National Merit recognition, earn significant scholarship awards, and gain acceptance into the nation’s most prestigious universities. Our tradition of excellence adds to our community’s quality of life, attracts new businesses, and protects our property values. Tipp City Schools is a much sought after school district! We are proud of that and want to maintain it. The renewal is for 4.5 mills and brings in approximately $1.85 million annually. For a home market value of $100,000 it costs $157.50 annually per the Miami County Auditor Website. If you have any questions on this issue please contact me at 667-8444.

Nevin Coppock Elementary students were all smiles as they welcomed their special guests to Grandparent’s Lunch Week. Thank you to all who brought so much love to school!

Time to have Lunch Broadway Elementary hosted its annual Parent’s Lunch Week much to the delight of students. Guests toured the school, visited the Book Fair, and played at recess!

College and Career Fair Tippecanoe High School hosted its 2nd annual College and Career Fair. Students selected 2 of eleven sessions to attend. Options included Choosing a Career, Resume Building, Interviewing Skills, and College Admissions Overview. Students also could learn about careers in engineering, computers, law and criminal justice, health services, and biology. Thank you to our visitors!

LT Ball Students Explore Career Fields

LT Ball Intermediate students enjoyed learning about what they might do when they grow up! The 4th and 5th graders attended 6 sessions at the school’s Career Day which is hosted every other year. Speakers shared information about their jobs and the training required to excel. Many also had engaging hands-on activities for students. Thank you to all who participated.

College and Career Readiness

Tippecanoe High School students enrolled in the College and Career Readiness class are learning about career possibilities from a series of guest speakers throughout the semester. Most recently Cindy Frantz, Recruiting and Marketing Specialist with McDonald’s, provided tips on resume writing and interviewing techniques. Dr. Gretta Kumpf, Superintendent of Tipp City Schools, returned to the classroom to talk with students about a career in education and what fuels her passion. Nick Alber’s students will hear from 6 additional speakers before the end of the semester.

Professional Development

The district counseling team attended a professional development workshop hosted by the University of Dayton at Dayton Children's Hospital. Staff learned about the new behavioral crisis center at Dayton Children's and the intake process. They also learned what patient care looks like, prevention programs available to schools, and strategies to help students grieve and grow.

Tippecanoe High School Presents College Planning Night

*Discover how to find and win scholarships

Students and parents are encouraged to attend College Planning Night to gain valuable information on applying to and paying for college. Hear from college admission representatives concerning the importance of college visits, the common application, and scholarship opportunities. The event takes place October 29th, from 6:00 p.m. to 8:00 p.m. at Tippecanoe High School.

Field Trip to Construction Exposition

More than 30 Tippecanoe High School students in the Homebuilding class taught by James Kitchen attended the Construction Expo in Dayton where many different careers in the construction trade were represented. Students talked with local employers and participated in hands-on demonstrations. The guidance department helped coordinate this learning experience.

Congratulations to the Tippecanoe High School Model United Nations for its strong showing at the Bowling Green High School Model United Nations Conference. Thirteen students ably represented THS and four came away with awards. Winning for THS pictured left to right are Amelia Zweizig as the Soviet Union, Joey Dietz, who portrayed Hafez al-Assad of Syria, Aaron Davis as France, and Kayla Williams as Mahmoud Riad, Minister of Egypt.

Another Magnificent Performance by THS Marching Band

The Tippecanoe High School Marching Band put on another phenomenal performance of their show titled “Currents” at the Marion Local Marching Band Invitational, winning awards for 1st Place in Class A and Best Percussion in Class A. In addition to bringing home two trophies, the band also earned their third Superior rating of the season from the OMEA judges. The band performs next at OMEA State Marching Band Finals on Sunday, November 3 at Welcome Stadium. This is the Band’s 16th year in a row earning their spot in the State Marching Band Finals. Their performance is tentatively scheduled for 3:45. Come out and support our award-winning band!

Learning from a Pro Tippecanoe High School students enrolled in the 3D Art class learned about pottery and using a wheel from a THS graduate. Erin Lambers, Class of 2000 and owner of Cornell Studio Supply in Vandalia, shared her expertise with the students.

Pumpkin Patch Members of the Tippecanoe High School Interact Club and National Art Honor Society carved pumpkins at Lost Creek Reserve. The pumpkins are used for Lost Creek’s Halloween Walk.

“Trick or Treat so Kids Can Eat”

Tippecanoe High School students will be donning Halloween costumes to help feed the hungry. Trick-or-

Treat So Kids Can Eat encourages high schoolers to go trick-or-treating and collect canned goods and donate

them to a local shelter. This will take place October 31 from 5:30-9. The students are asking residents to

leave canned goods outside their doors on Halloween night.

WHAT A SEASON TO CELEBRATE!

Athletic Director Kregg Creamer says, “Tippecanoe Athletics has enjoyed a season like no other!”

Varsity Boys/Girls Cross Country are both District Champions and have qualified for the State Meet. Boys are Div. I and Girls are Div. II

Varsity Volleyball is the MVL Champion and District Champion and playing in a Regional Semi-Final on 10/31. (Girls ended the season ranked #9 in Div. II State Poll)

Varsity Girls Soccer is a District Champion and playing in a Regional Semi-Final on 10/29.

Varsity Boys Soccer is the MVL Champion and District Champion and playing in a Regional Semi-Final on 10/30. (Boys ended the season ranked #2 in Div. II State Poll)

Varsity Girls Tennis won the MVL and sent three players on to the District Tournament Varsity Boys Golf won the MVL and was a Div. I Sectional Champions, District Qualifiers Varsity Girls Golf were Div. I District Qualifiers
