Question 4) Advertising Positions and Reasoning
Both the positions: Lab Technician and C++ Programmer should be advertised is
some of the following mentioned below along with reasoning:
Advertising Media Suitability Reasoning
1) TV This is not suitable because most of IT candidates are
more into computer technology related stuff and they
do not have interest for watching TV.
2) Billboard Billboards are costly and not suitable because they are
traditional forms of advertising positions and it is more
for targeting customers or greeting to specific person
on specific occasion.
3) Radio Radio is more of entertainment and not suitable form
for advertising IT positions. Most of the people
nowadays are listening to radios for latest music,
competition, greetings, etc.
4) Print (Newspapers, IT
Magazines, Trade Journals, etc.)
Print form of advertising is suitable only if there is
specific section for IT area or IT related information.
Such as some newspapers have IT listing of job
vacancies, so it will be suitable. There are IT
magazines or journals so these are also useful forms of
advertising.
5) Internet Internet is the best form of advertising because all IT
candidates do access internet and they might search

Assignment 3: ITM
directly entering keywords such as Lab Technician
vacancy.
6) Agencies/Recruiter/Headhunters This should last option if the organization is not able to
find appropriate candidate from proposed suitability
advertising forms. They are expensive forms and they
do charge based on salary range as well. They do have
number of CVs but they are also using similar forms of
advertising to attract candidates, which organization
can do the same.
7) Networking IT Managers with high contacts and reach will be able
to easily locate through networking skills. Therefore, it
is one of the suitable form as well. For example, when
attending seminar, conferences, professional courses,
etc. IT Manager might come across potential
candidates. He or she can also recall personal contacts
and find most suitable candidates.
8) Job/Recruiting Fairs It is depending on type of organizations participating
in the job/recruiting fairs. Such as if the purpose of
Fairs are to fulfill government sector needs then
number of potential IT candidates will be less. If it is
more on IT industry related job/recruiting fairs then it
is suitable. Moreover, some of the universities and
colleges conduct career exhibitions and they are
suitable if there is IT department or majors.
