In what ways does your media product use,
develop or challenge forms and conventions of
real media products?
By Rebecca Wilson
ConventionsOur two main focuses for our title
sequence were to establish the genre for our audience and to keep continuity throughout.
Titles were created and fitted to the sequence to fit the conventions of the opening to a film which appear over the clips in a significant order, used by the majority of films: production company, film title, actors, editors, directors.
ConventionsMost title sequences have a
voiceover or music. We have chosen the song “Higher
and Higher” by Jackie Wilson. This has been added in after
editing, making it non diegetic, although the protagonist is dancing to her own song.
FormTo represent the romantic
side to the genre, the protagonist falls into the arms of a boy and they gaze into each others eyes.
Special effects in iMovie to slow down the clip made the genre more apparent and the meeting more significant to the rest of the film.
FormThe lyrics in our soundtrack fit in
with the romance and the name of the title "Lucky in Love". The ‘rom-com’ genre should make the audience feel good therefore must evoke happiness. The lyrics say:
Your love, is lifting me higher,Than I’ve ever been lifted before,So keep it up, quench my desire,
And I’ll be at your side forever more,You know your love, keeps on lifting me,
Higher. Higher and higher.
FormThe comical elements
of the genre were displayed through the acting.
The protagonist endures slapstick, like walking into a lamppost, stumbling in high heels and elaborate dancing.
