question 7

Question 7 In this task i will evaluate the progress my group has made from the prelimanry task to the final piece. The prelim task was unmarked it just had to include certain things. I will cover the progress of our filiming style and equipment use. Firstly my group decided that based on the outcome of the prelim task we would put allot more time and effort into the final task. We felt that our prelim task met the brief however it did not demonstrate our full potential, we had more creativity and class in our group then that task had shown. Perhaps the reason for this was the small time span we had to complete the prelim task when compared with the lengthy filming time we used to create the final piece. The prelim task was also scattered with continuity errors that we wanted to erase for the final piece for instance the sidekick who opens the door for james love disappears when the camera returns in the shot reverse shot technique. He then appears again behind jameses head without any indication that he has moved. In our final piece the errors are minimal and much less obvious if there is any, the movement is much better flowing and makes allot more sense as it follows the story line. The story line is also flawed in the prelim task as james tells his henchman to leave then invites him back 3 seconds later after the criminal puts up the smallest resistance. The final piece the acting is much more thought out and convincing for example the fake blood used when the man is shot. We made sure the actors had a much clearer brief of what they were representing and in the mannor they were doing so. The editing used in our prelim task defiantly needed more work there are various errors that should have been cut out, for example the camera mans leg is in the shot taken in the torture room, also the camera tri pod features in the corner of many of the shots. Question 7In this task i will evaluate the progress my group has made from the prelimanry task to the final piece. The prelim task was unmarked it just had to include certain things. I will cover the progress of our filiming style and equipment use.Firstly my group decided that based on the outcome of the prelim task we would put allot more time and effort into the final task. We made sure the actors had a much clearer brief of what they were representing and in the mannor they were doing so.The editing used in our prelim task defiantly needed more work there are various errors that should have been cut out, for example the camera mans leg is in the shot taken in the torture room, also the camera tri pod features in the corner of many of the shots. This takes away from the realism and makes the piece less believable something that we were very careful to avoid doing in our final piece as we took extra care to make sure the shot was framed perfectly. The fisheye effect was a problem for us, it this covers use of equipment also as in the prelim we used a go pro for the high quality and ended up with fisheye on the piece. In the final task we used a cannon dslr which is much more suited to our desired type of shot. The camera had a lens that resulted in far superior quality and a more immersive film. The fisheye lens is meant for extreme sport not serious drama pieces. We took this into consideration and opted to use a more sophisticated approach and go with a higher quality camera that would produce a more relevant product. Also our mentality towards filming changed as you can see there are shots where the bad guy toomy t is laughing and not taking the acting side of things seriously wheras in the final piece the acting has much improved and this film has a much more serious vibe. In conclusion the first prelim task for me highlights how far my group has come and the progress we have made at creating and producing a media text. The final piece is an example of the creativity and originality present in my group and our capabilities.
